Me too. In a Club thread it was referred to as a stinker game for Henne. Also that he made and also missed more deep passes than in any other game. I thought Henne did alright vs Cincy, despite having a 69 QB rating. He had a good completion pct, but a low ypa, 5.9. Carp kicked 5 FGs the last one giving us a 1 point lead. Then early in the 4th, Henne led a 96 yard drive for a TD, 1 yd Ricky run. One thing I found interesting, the last pass attempt Henne made in that game was during that drive. With 12:50 remaining, on the TD drive, he threw an incomplete pass to Bess. The rest of the drive was a Hartline 30 yd end around, an 18 yd Ricky run, then the TD. When Miami got the ball back, we went into total conservative mode on offense. The next drive being 3 and out, all Ronnie runs. At that point, Palmer found his groove again for 4 minutes or so, had the Bengals down to our 22. Then SS24 made a pick at the 7 and brought it out to the 25. Ricky gained 13 on 2 combined runs, then 3 Henne kneel downs end the game. It indicates to me the game plan was to play close to the vest as much as possible on offense and let the defense win it. We certainly never went for the jugular on the subsequent drive after the TD and we started at our own 34, solid field position. Look forward to DJ's report on this game for sure.
Totally agree, and we fans generally know about half of what we think we know. Especially with Miami, since this regime stays in a lockdown mode as much as any of them.
Exactly! Good example here of the good ol' boys network, aka NFL coaching fraternity, taking care of one of their own.
See, this is why tape is so important. From memory, the Bengals game was meh, except the last drive which was orgasmic. I really would like to see that again.
Fixed it for you sir I'm sure that was what you meant. Of course the very last drive, of 2 Ricky runs and 3 Henne kneel downs felt pretty good too.
Completely agree--- I love his Game rewind thoughts, especially since we know Deej tells it how he sees it.
DJ's style reminds me of that dude Drew Boylhart who writes for The Huddle Report. I like Drew's style for same reasons as with DJ, refreshing, different, and just a dedicated fan who writes about just what he sees with his own two eyes.
