I liked our helmets more when they didn't look like they were painted with bass boat paint.

When I was young, I thought that there were light bulbs on the Vikings helmets. I don't care for those too much.

I agree. If the Bears and Browns are high on the list then its nothing more than a sentimental popularity contest.

Take a look at the list, our helmet out of the ten if probably the newest, none of the new teams are on it as are teams that have changed their helmets in the last few decades really made the list, and I bet if the Chargers didn't go back to the white helmets from the blue ones they would have never made the list.

And I'm surprised the Giants didn't make the list.

The Bears' helmet is cool because it's Da Bears. That's it.

IMHO the reason the Browns are ranked two spots above the Miami Dolphins might have something to do with LeBron and the 1997 Florida Marlins (among other things). That poop brown good-for-nothing stock helmet shouldn't even be ranked. Or maybe on top of the list of most unimaginative pieces of headwear of all time.

ESPN is getting to be more and more like a Japanese schoolgirl. I swear to God they'll start ranking QB's asses before the year is out...

The Browns Helmet is the only Helmet in the Nfl that has decal on it, the darn thing is plain old brown. Who ran this ranking and was he sober?

In the ongoing effort to rattle our cages from time to time, I suspect there's a few interns over at ESPN having a hoot of a time pulling these senseless power rankings out of their acses (the Browns), before arbitrarily assigning them to various ESPN analysts and/or brown-nosed guest personalities, who in turn have no knowledge nor interest in the article, but who simply signed on to allow their notoriety to be freely used with this innane, yet purely innocuous sort of banter, perhaps for an extra attaboy around the company Christmas tree.

The Vikings and the Browns in the Top Ten????

I would put the Browns at #31 and the Bengals Tomato helmets at #32.

I hate the Raiders, but I think they probably have the best logo and colors on their helmet. It just goes together nicely.

While you and I frequently disagree on politics, I gotta agree with you here. I used to LOVE watching Sunday NFL Countdown, when they had in depth comprehensive coverage of EVERY game being played.

Now they have all of those STUPID segments...
    "Young is Restless"
    "The Mayne Event"
    "Ditka's Doghouse"
    "Fantasy Tips"
And ALL of them brought to you by....Staples, Pizza Hut, Toyota, etc...

It's become a JOKE! It's no wonder they haven't won an Emmy in 5 years nor a Cable Ace in 11 years! Just give me in depth analysis of all the games. I don't need nor want all of those stupid segments. As much as I despise Keith Olbermann, I can see why he and ESPN had their falling out.

Sunday NFL Countdown used to be gold standard of Sunday morning football analysis. No longer. I wish they'd get back to what made them the gold standard...as I wish ESPN in general would get back to what made them the gold standard.

But alas, ESPN has become the National Enquirer of sports.

Perhaps you should do a youtube search for Japanese schoolgirls. ;) Maybe you would not use them to make a negative connotation then.:tongue2:

I hate how they attach the sponsor's name to front of college bowl games. When I was a kid we had the Rose, Cotton, Sugar and Orange Bowls, with a myriad of minor bowls like the Liberty Bowl and Bluebonnet Bowl. Now, it's the Fed Ex Orange Bowl, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, etc etc.

I hear you and agree with you whole heartedly. All of this commercialization of games has just disgusted me anymore. To me it will always be their traditional names. Screw FedEx, Tostitos and all of those others. I wouldn't mind it so much if it were labeled, "Welcome to the Orange Bowl....brought to you by FedEx". At least they would be keeping the tradition of calling it by it's proper name. Hell, even the logos for these bowl games anymore are more about the sponsor than the bowl itself, with the logos predominately focusing on the company and not the bowl game.

Off topic, but can you remember when baseball refused to have advertisments in the outfield like they allowed in the minor leagues? Then they caved and started allowing it?

    It all aggrevates me anymore.

One thing about baseball, when they show pics of the old ball parks like back in the 1920s etc, Ebbets Field, The Polo Grounds, et al, I seem to recall seeing advertisement signs and to see them in the old photos they IMO add to the nostalgia. Such as this shot of the left field bleachers. [IMG]
