Nothing new. They say some progress was made. No more negotiations scheduled until June 7. Much more boredom in the football forecast.
Told ya SB, from the twitter feed the owners lowered their March offer, so they basically are negotiating downwards which of course Mo Smith should never put up with unless the owners then make concessions, which they have no intention of doing. 44 days until the CFL kicks off, that is all I need to know.
Which is nice, the Braves are doing great and I do have a taste for the CFL so for me this is kind of static in the background. Hearing maybe ESPN handles CFL or UFL games this yr if this drags out which would be just great, put Flutie on them and there ya go. Real problem in all of this is "if" Doty awards the players hundreds of millions for the TV contract stuff, the owners will of course seek not to pay it, which means a real standoff. Eh, Ft Lauderdale's Qb Matt Johnson signed with my BC Lions, looking forward to watching him play.
I have the Braves and that's it. please let there be football. I just can't get into CFL. I can have it on in the background while doing work on my laptop, but I can't jump up and get excited over it. I could care less about NBA since my team was eliminated already (and we put up a much better fight vs Dallas than the Lakers).
I guess I just never really "bought into" the nfl brand, and TBH the gyrations I have to go through to watch a NFL game that I actually want to watch online piss me off a little bit, the NFL feels "I" should only watch the games they force me to watch, such as the Carolina Panthers, the local team, never mind if they were getting the snot kicked out of them week in and week out, "I" should waste my time watching a crappy product. Already been through the dreadful 2007 season why in the world should I be forced to watch yet another team get the snot kicked out of them for 4 months?
The players are going to take it on the chin most likely....hey as long as they have a rookie salary cap.... https://twitter.com/#!/AdamSchefter/statuses/70812484705075200
Yeah this really sucks. I can't stand baseball it bores me sick so the only thing I have to look forward to are my Bulls winning a championship. I still think there will be a season so haven't lost hope yet but this is looking to be one lame off season.
Thanks to the lockout and the lack of NFL offseason i've been following baseball once again, starting to watch more MLS, NBA, and not to mention i'll have college football to keep me occupied throughout the NFL regular season. I'm not worried. The only thing that bums me out is the lack of money i'll win from Fantasy Football.
I just cannot really get into NCAA football any longer, it is just to absurd to me, though I will watch the Canes but it boils down to semi pro football and it just has lost it's taste. OSU, USC, Auburn, all dirty, Boise runs into trouble for Track and Tennis and: http://www.toledoblade.com/sports/2011/05/04/Boise-State-imposes-sanctions-for-NCAA-infractions.html That's me, done.
We'll see how the Heat and the Bulls do tonight. I'd love to see the Heat win over the Bulls. The people that are suddenly Derrick Rose/Bulls fans are more annoying than the Heat bandwagon fans. Everyone talks about how good Rose is but if Rose is so damn good then why didn't he put up these stats the last 2 years? He averaged .24 from the 3-pt line. But now he is suddenly god. Get outta here.
I don't understand why the two sides don't just keep talking/negotiating until they figure something out. Both sides have admitted that nothing will be settled in the courts, so why are they wasting their time?
Because the owners backed by the courts decision are in a "take it or leave it" stance....the players are running out of room to play with...
