As much as I always like your input on football, I would say we can't always agree! :)

The only way I'd sign off with Young is if he were nearly the last option.

dj..I've thought about the same type of thing..it would be unstoppable with the right players.

Imagine the Eagles with Vince and Vick (an actual possibility)..What if they had them both in the shotgun 2 yds on either side of the center (if that's legal)--with Vick (Lefty) on the left, and Vince on the right (or maybe the opposite would make more sense). The Dline wouldn't know where to rush the QB, especially bc either one can scramble around after he gets the snap. They both can run or go out for a pass, and they've both become dangerous passers. Then, have another formation where you put a RB in the center...behind them both so he can take a handoff or direct snap. If that RB is a D-Thomas or something...yet another threat to pass the ball. The possibilities are endless..it's a DC's worst nightmare.

I still don't understand why people are so in love with Jeff Fisher. Can someone please tell me?
hint: the answer is not because psycho Bud Adams gave him a 17-year tenure

As far as I can tell, the guy has been a chronic underacheiver, and watching him these last few years I have seen countless poor coaching decisions (and I'm not even talking about his treatment of VY here). Trust me, look through a Titans message board this season and look how actual Titan fans think of him--they all wanted him fired (not bc of VY either--many wanted both gone), and the only ones who supported him only did so because they took a "Fisher vs VY" mindset and sided with the coach.
In 17 years, he's had 6 winning seasons. 5 playoff wins. 0 Super Bowls. Winning % barely over 500. He's had 17 years to build this team however he wanted, with his style of play, yet no results. The Titans have developed a rep as the dirtiest team in the league, and I can't dispute it having watched them play. As for being a players coach--ask Keith Bulluck or Steve McNair how much they like the guy..

This sums it up nicely (note the points about the QBs Fisher has "developed"):

Funny you bring that up as lost in the Young stuff is the fact Jevon Kearse also walked off from the Titans, I just recalled that happening, he found out he was yet again a healthy scratch and he just put on his street clothes and went home, Fisher put him on the "non football list" and that was the end of the Freak's time in TN.

He was working out with Dolphins/Jets/Bills players last week which sort of brought that to mind.

Do you know why that happened finagain?

I've been searching high and low for a backup passrusher/nickel rusher to use with Wake and have been thinking about Kearse.

Ha, good call Padre, I totally forgot about that. Don't remember much about it, but I guess that kinda sets a precedent for what VY was going through.

I'd expect Jevon to be a little old by now, but he could be an interesting pickup if he's in good shape..

I'll throw this into the mix as well, from another former Titan great who got screwed by Fisher (this was the Pitt game, not the "tantrum game" btw). From the main Nashville paper:

It sure seems like Fisher's rep as a player's coach is hard to justify. Who knows, maybe the guy changed at some point after McNair's bitter separation with the team (another to add to the list), but lately at least, there seems to be lots of proof on Vince's side of this deal.

Not quite the same deal, but you could also add guys like Pacman Jones, Haynesworth, Lendale White, Cortland Finnigan (on-field only).

I remember one game a few years ago, either a game that winning would put them in the playoffs or a first round playoff game. The Titans had a 1st and goal from the 1 or so. Like a minute or 2 left. A TD would win it and a FG would tie it. He ran 4 straight RB dives in the A gap and they didn't gain a yard. I think this was when McNair was the QB. Can't recall if George was still there. No imagination whatsoever. It was like he'd decided they were going to score his way or not at all.

Kearse is a South Florida guy, he's working out and would be 34/35 so who knows, cannot hurt to take a look.

I can recall Collins playing poorly in the blowout by the Pats (funny, Fisher caught no flak for that one) and keeping his job, that was the 55-7 game or something like and Collins kept the job that is when Adams had to step in and say "it shall be thus" Young led them to 8-2 the rest of the way, by gm #6 in 2010..back to the bench, which is simply bizarre, add in the Rusty Smith stuff and Fisher appears to have been making moves that made sense to only himself but were fundamentally poor football decisions.

Well, if one thinks about it, once a yr for the last 4 seasons:

    2007: Steve McNair
    2008 Albert Haynesworth
    2009: Jevon Kearse
    2010: Vince Young

Odd, never really thought about those situations, mostly it has been a one sided "Young is a screw up" sort of thing, the fact is Fisher has had issues with players for quite sometime, all 4 are pro bowl players as well.

59-0 actually. Collins was 2-12 for negtive-7 yards and 1 int. That loss took them to 0-6 on the year. you're right about the rest.

Add Keith Bulluck to the list, and depending on your criteria, Lendale White and Pacman Jones too.

This is what I've been trying to say the whole time. You never hear the other side of the story, which is equally or more important. Fisher has had 17 years to schmooze with the media, and it's paying off big-time.

and MrClean--I don't remember that, but it does not surprise me at all. Fisher is the most over-conservative playcaller I have seen, and that is one of the big reasons Titan fans wanted him gone.

I've always believed that if V. Young can get his med's dosed right he'd be a really good QB.

I wouldn't mind it at all if Miami gave him a shot. Most of you know that I believe Henne can be a good starting QB, but it never hurts to have competition. I do believe the Dolphins are interested, but only if the price is right. His upside is extremely high, but the chances of him losing his mind again is also high. So, the price would have to be low.

Is what it is, with word coming out that the Broncos want a Conditional #2 pick, that could become a #1, for Kyle Orton, the Qb's who fit the metrics:

    -30 or younger
    -20 career starts
    -60% completions
    -50% Td to Int ratio

Just lost one more name if Orton is that expensive, down to Young and Grossman with Matt Leinart and maybe Travaris Jackson just outside of the group.

Head to head, Vince Young vs Rex Grossman?
