But the vitriol all year came from those fans.

They are all now lifelong Mavs fans..you know?

BTW, Stevenson is the genius that posted a picture of his black card complete with his account numbers on the internet.

Yeah but it wasn't an issue prior to the finals. That's my point. Heat fans didn't have any problems with the criticism from what I saw but now that they lost the Finals, they are playing victim to criticism. Had they won, it would be an entirely different story and that line above your avatar would be said quite a bit.

I am not supporting the hatred of Miami. I don't really care about any team in the league. I'm simply commenting.

I've always believed that you hurt yourself more than others when you wish ill on others or cheer when bad stuff happens to others so I try to behave as you're suggesting here. Now I'll root for certain teams to win or lose for the purposes of playoff seedings or even favorable match-ups etc., but not to lose b/c I want people or teams to suffer.

I don't see how anything has changed. I've been saying since before the season that the hate was irrational and I see the rejoicing as the same thing.

According to them, there are no real Heat fans to listen to in the first place. There are also apparently no Heat fans at the AAA in the first quarter, either.

Because it's quicker to just address your primary point than to wade through the supporting details.

You missed the part where the Heat SHUT THE HATERS UP, by BEATING their teams.

But they insist on piping up.

All I am saying is that the Heat shut you up...so stay quiet. I want proof of Mavs fandom to talk **** to us. SHow me a season ticket ID number, a Dirk Jersey, a Rolando Blackmon blow up doll..show me something..till then, it is just pretty stupid.

I didn't miss the point, I just never knew that beating a team meant everyone had to shush. I guess Miami Dolphins fans should pipe down for every game since, well, everyone's beaten them.

Some feel that same exact way about Heat fans.

So we then come back full circle to the question of why it became acceptable and trendy to bash Heat fans directly.

Relevant, yes. But in the end, it's still just bullet points indented below the main point. Quicker to address the main point.

It's acceptable to bash Heat fans and Miami fans in general because ESPN has decided that Miami is a crappy, illegitimate sports town.

No matter that I proved in another thread that the Heat outdrew the Knicks and Lakers four straight years from 2004-2007 and that the Cavs only outdrew the Heat twice during LBJ's time there.

But Cleveland is a great sports town full of true fans while Miami has a bunch of bandwagoners. I know I shouldn't care about this, but it pisses me off, because it's an insult to me, the other posters here, and my firends and family. When people like Charles Barkley run their mouths about something they don't know anything about it pisses me off.

Sorry...if you are a Dolphin fan and you spend a year hating and spewing vitriol at the Jets and then the Jets beat you 35-13 in the playoffs (which is the equivalent of a 4-1 series) YOU BETTER SHUT UP.

All I ask is that you identify your loser team before you talk about ours.

I am just glad that nobody tried that crap on this site. But we have posters with brains and some self respect. But everywhere else? The Media? LOL!

The Heat fans are hilarious today. Not too much about the games themselves. The argument has turned to "everyone is picking on us, make it stop!"

Seriously? That is where we are going with this?

And get out of here with that garbage that everyone who didn't root for the Heat and aren't primary Mavs fans are haters. Ugh guys, I am a Lakers fan, they lost, but I still enjoy watching basketball so I am gonna root for the teams that are left over.

I rooted for the Heat to beat the Celtics. Does that make me a Celtics hater (I am)?
I rooted for the Thunder to beat the Mavericks. Does that make me a Mavericks hater (I'm not)?
I rooted for the Bulls (who I hate) to beat the Heat (a team that I am growing to hate. A team I previously liked, A LOT), so does that make me a Heat hater?

Honestly, the fans of other teams that aren't playing anymore have to choose up sides at some point, or just quit watching. And if you are a basketball/sports nut, not watching ismply wasn't an option. Thus, you root for whoever you want at that point. For me, I wanted to see Dirk and Kidd win a ring (especially Kidd) and I happen to be a fan of Cuban so it was nice to see a passionate owner win it all.

Now, as for the open attacks on Heat fans...isn't that every sport and every team? We talk about how classless Jets fans are on here, for example. It comes with being a fan, because quite frankly no one if more passionate about their team(s) than fans. Not players, not media types, and not even owners. Fans. And you can't cast stones when you are beating your chest at the same time daring other team's fans to shut up because their team got dominated.

It doesn't work that way. Miami is not the center of the universe...just the center of yours. And fans of other teams have the right to say whatever the hell they want about you and your team. Hell, LeBron came out and basically said, "it doesn't matter that we didn't win it all, I am rich, you aren't so I am better than you, suck it." That's what his little blurb translates to. Yet you wonder why people dislike him so much?

Again, Mavericks won it. They deserve the praise. Heat lost, they deserve the scrutiny. That is how sports works. Everything is black and white in the short term.

Miami's prospect long term appear to be greater than Dallas's and Vegas agrees (I think I saw 3:1 favorites for next year). But for the right here and now, the Heat lost and are flawed because of it.

No one cares what you are saying about Heat fans. We care that the national media bashes us, which in turn makes people like you more brazen with it. Why on Earth is Mark Cuban even thinking about Heat fans minutes after winning the championship, let alone verbalizing that we suck? It's because it's an acceptable thing to say and get a laugh from the national media.

    No, actually, it hasn't.

The dialog has turned to "Fine, the haters have their moment. Go revel in it. Leave us out of it, unlike what you've done all year."

    Heat fans are busy elsewhere.

Exactly the point - there are idiot Heat fans that were overly cocky and now there are idiot fans from other teams rubbing it in.

Bwahahahahahahahahaha! I am sorry Heat fans. There was a time when I rocked Heat gear and adopted this franchise as my East team. Harold Minor, Glen Rice, hell even Bimbo Coles were fun to watch (albeit less successful, obviously). But this team, as it is currently constructed, and how the fans have stood up and beat their chest like gorillas sending out a warning, is laughable. Especially when you factor in that this all went on PRIOR to winning a damned thing. Making it to the finals and losing wasn't the end game for this team. And yes I know all about ho wmuch better they are going to be going forward and how Dwayne Wade has never missed a shot unless he was fouled, etc., etc,.

But you guys are painting with a pretty broad brush. The whining about the national media has got to stop. You guys lost. The media is going to pile on. Especially when the supposed best player in the NBA disappeared faster than a fart in the wind. It's a story. they were favored to win by everyone and came up short to what seems to be an inferior team (at least on paper). An injured inferior team to boot.

The funny thing is, aren't you guys the same fanbase that rocked the "Miami Hated" BS all year? And now that they lost, the talk turns to how unfairly treated they were? Again, with the exception of THIS YEAR, Miami has been a darling of the NBA. Once Riles went there, once Wade was dratted and turned out to be pretty damned good (and marketable) and ESPECIALLY when Shaq was traded there, that team was on every magazine cover, the front page of every website, newspaper and other published works and had their asses slathered by every major media outlet there was.

And why? Because Shaq and Wade and Riles know how to handle the media. They know how to flash a smile, talk to beat writers and disarm the people covering them. LeBron? No clue how to handle them. Spo? He tried extremely hard to keep falling on the swoard but ended up cutting a few of his own in the process. Hell, even Wade started buying into this "everyone hates us," schtick. The truth is, the public and the media didn't hate them until they were given reason to question them, and then were routinely calle dout by the players and fans alike. Self fulfilling prophecy I guess.

As for media members 'attacking' the Heat fans. Lets be honest, we are talking about Charles Barkley. Who is pretyt much known for stirring **** up with all fan bases of all teams. It just so happens that most teams simply ignore his barbs are at least realize that Sir Charles is a big fat talking head who sort of gets paid to make comments like this. And the other one everyone is scraming about is Cuban.

Huh? This is new? Cuban digs at EVERYONE. It is part of his act as well. Quite frankly, I enjoy his brand of ownership more than any other owner in sports. He is involved, he does everything he can for his players and yet, lets his coaches coach and players play. Did he need to hit the Heat fans? No, not really, but so what if he did? The guy probably actually DID read the comments on these boards, as he spends an awful lot of time reading **** like this, and as a dig, he probably sent it back at you and anyone else that belittles him. I can only pray that the rumors of him wanting to buy the Dodgers are true. I would love to see him bring that to baseball. In particular, my team.

I could care less about the Heat fans or any other NBA fan. Queen LJ brought this to Miami and as a outsider, I don't like the bum. Sir Charles Barkley was right about crying and whining.
Next year maybe LJ can just shut up and play, then the Miami fans can be happy again.

As far as the couple posters that were *****ing about the officiating, do you really believe that the league would rather give Mark Cuban a championship over a stud filled team like the Heat?? Isn't Mark Cuban the idiot owner that causes more problems for the league??

As far as the Heat fans on here, I feel for you since this is a Dolphins board. I said this last night, the Heat QUIT. How in the hell do you let Dallas pretty much run out the clock when there was a good 2 minutes left? They didn't even try to foul.....shows me that they quit.

Eh, they lost Dirk too many times for a guy that big and that critical to his teams success. LeBron is very arrogant and I think thats what turned people off to him. I was never turned off until he started running his mouth post-decision. I recognize most athletes have that "swag" or confidence because they need it to fuel themselves. It motivates them, it creates their image, it creates their game. When it gets shaken or taken they fail to exist as they were...and to a degree I think its happened to LeBron. He does need a meanness infusion from Wade..problem is he will always be LeBron and Wade will always be Wade. I think I was wrong a few years ago and you were right...I think I'd take Wade even if he is more brittle because I think LeBron might be too fragile mentally to handle it.

I agree attacking other fans is not cool. I hate the Jets, not necessarily all Jet fans. My best friend is a Jet fans. I hate the Heat dating back to the rivalry with NYK but I feel a connection and friendship with members here. But too a degree there was a lot of arrogance among Heat fans, not necessarily limited to this board. That doesnt make it right but when you get name players you get the scrutiny that comes with it.

LOL, Beiber got booed out MSG for no reason back when I went to see NYK vs Dallas earlier in he year. No real reason either. They just showed his face on the big screen and everyone started hating.

Dude, I call bull****. When the Phins were out of the playoffs, and NE was making a run at the undefeated season you HAD to be cheering for them to lose. You HAD to. There's no Miami fan on this planet that didn't hit the ceiling when the Giants sealed the deal. I know I spent the ENTIRE playoffs rooting HARD against the Patriots. Didn't matter who it was, just wanted them to go down. Could care less who won that year...just as long as it wasn't them. It was equal parts wanting to keep the undefeated record to ourselves and not wanting a classless team to be the ones to equal the phins record.

You have to look at it like that. The HEAT have played the roles of the "we don't care what you think" villains this entire season. This was the closest thing I've seen the NBA get to that NE run. People outside of the sport are getting tired of hearing about Lebron. Like I say, I HATE pro-basketball, and I can't help but to have heard how they've done all season despite trying to avoid it all :P
