http://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...r-pass-blocking-efficiency-offensive-linemen/ Big Jake is #2 over the last 3 yrs combined, Vern Carey is #11 or so over the last 3yrs. Now, if the "secret" of the Jests success is looked at: -Ferguson -Woody -Moore -Mangold All rank in the top 15 best pass blocking stats over the last 3 yrs, the key is, none were drafted by Rex Ryan, he inherited them all.
Interesting that Wade Smith (yes that Wade Smith) is the #6 guard, followed by Richie Incognito at 11. And Samson Satele is the 3rd-worst center. Alan Faneca kept making Pro Bowls despite being the 3rd worst guard. I really hope we've hit on our #1 pick. You look at the top centers -- though this is only pass blocking stats -- they're generally on some pretty successful teams.
The secret of the jets' success is not only their o-line, but the amazing HEALTH of their o-line. These guys have played together for years without injury. I don't have the statistic, but it is astounding at how healthy these scumbags have been.
They went from late 2006's injury to Pete Kendall all the way to late 2010's injury to Damien Woody without a starter missing a single game. And they were not "some dudes" guys like Mangold and Moore are some of the best players in the NFL, wereas we cannot even keep our Cory Proctors healthy.
Imagine if Long hadn't gotten injured. I like that he's getting the recognition as a premier player in the league.
these are examples of why I get frustrated when people think that year 3 was the year to judge our regime...what the hell kind of oline did we inherit 3 years ago?...exactly..This regime's starting point was real bad.......Bottom line..4 year plan..
