We didn't control the seam, or the flats for that matter. When teams Cover 2d us to death, the opposing safeties were allowed to cheat to the outside b/c we had no one down the middle, CBs could carry WRs further up the field b/c we didn't anchor them in the flats, and of course, no one had to gain any depth out of fear for our speed. Add in no running or play action game, and you're going to have some pretty small windows to throw into. My biggest wish is that we have a real offense this year.

I respectfully disagree. The offense did not see only 2 Zone, they saw a lot of 2 Buc. I'd argue they saw more 2 Buc than 2 Zone. That's where you saw the safeties widening out, covering thirds opposed to halves. It looked like 2 Zone and the safeties widening because there was no seam threat. Since there was no seam threat and mainly crossers, the MIKE was not dropping down the pipe. The majority of the time, from what I saw, it was a Hi-Lo concept of some sort, whether it be Floods or Levels or something else. We didn't control the flats enough through flares or arrows you could argue but there were flat threats because this team did pretty much live in flood concepts.

This conversation makes me think what was discussed in this old piece:
    http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...shall-admits-to-drawing-up-his-own-plays.html
It was annoying that they did seem to run so many of the short in-routes with Marshall. It's ok sometimes, but it seemed that they didn't take advantage of his strengths as in being a big guy whom can go deep and "go-up-and-get-it", sometimes regardless of the coverage.

Sooo freakin' true! "just throw it up" ..exactly.

Let me muddy the waters even further. Anyone here, who played or did not play, ever hear of a screen pass?

I think that has to be right up there with a 3 step drop. It is a legal play. LOL

Which brings me to a question. In one of his recent interviews, Henne mentioned Gates participating in their players only workouts. How come Gates can find a way to do that, but Clay cannot?

Not sure about the terminology, by 2 Buc & 2 zone are we talking about classic Cover 2 vs Tampa 2?

    Well away from here
Could come down to personal finances mate. Some guys come from bad backgrounds financially or may have responsibilities already.

I would not say it like that. Putting him in motion and placing him in the slot are good ways to get him up the seam!

Yes, and it's a shame that our offense was terrible at executing them last season.

That's right! The stupidest thing Henning did was not send a player up the seam no matter what. When he did it was usually Fasano and we saw him have a chance at a few big plays. Even the chance of a big play can bring the two safties inside a little more which gives a go route more of a chance with slower Wr's. It also can create a nice hole in the flats.

I figure he knows the difference since I've seen him post about it before so I think he just wrote it like that.

I asked PFF if they could tell if extra blockers were on Henne or coaches. They said they would have to be in the huddle. :)

So, I took a look back to the start of our 09 season, where Penny was the QB. In the Atlanta game, there were 36 pass plays. Penny, or coaches, kept in Fasano 15 times, Haynos-2, Ronnie-12, Polite-3, Ricky-5, and Cobbs-1. Total of 38 extra blockers, with Penny. Atlanta had -2 extra rushers.

In game #2, 30 extra blockers for 5 extra pass rushers vs the Colts.

Game#3 was split, when Penny got injured, and Henne played. 20 extra lockers and 14 extra rushers.

Game #4 was Henne. 27 extra blockers, and 18 extra rushers.

This would seem to say that Henne was not a fault in calling for extra blockers.
