http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/07/15/pass-rushing-productivity-third-and-fourth-down/ Here's a VG read on pass rushers, and some VG stuff on Cam Wake. Pass rushers having success on 3rd & 4th downs is a good read on them because the O knows they're coming, and the VG ones are going to get double or even triple teamed.
I don't even want to talk about such a ridiculous notion. Why doesn't PFF take into account holding calls against the pass rusher...Its a highly accurate statistic on pressure, and is every bit as good even better as a hit or pressure. we add those and we might be talking about the best pressure player in the game.
Yeah or, PISS him off and don't pay him. Making a game changing, or saving, play does not happen often for any pass rusher, maybe one a year if you're very lucky. What did Wake do last season?
SB, do not entertain Padre..lol. Yeah lets go out and get the guy, watch him become one of the best OVERALL defenders in the game, top 5 linebacker, and trade him for a running back..sure man. Sh$#, I just entertained him...That will not happen again.. He our's, he's true, and he's elite..
NOT entertaining anyone DJ, Padre's only playing. I thought your idea was a VG one, and it most definitely does make a difference on 3rd & 4th downs. Hell, a holding penalty is better than a sack.
well only point is edwards has never player LB on a professional level, antawn barnes has and could be the cheaper solution, i think barnes is a miami native too
Wake hadn't played LB at a professional level either before 2009. I don't see that as nearly as important as looking at the player's skills and evaluating whether they fit the position. In Edward's case I thin they fit what Miami wants very well.
Good point, I'll ask them via Twitter. And yes I'm playing, though head to head I'd take the point generating running back over the Kracken as points win ball games and the NFL is just not set up for 3-0 games. As for Misi, my goodness have not seen a bright young prospect tossed overboard so quickly in quite a while..well..since last offseason anyway, give the lad a chance to hit the field in yr #2 as resources in a Salary Cap environment come scarce and you have to be wise with whom you sign.
Thing is, there is a huge opportunity for a pure, speed rusher type of passrusher who can attack the left tackle. Wake is most effective rushing from the Right Side of the formation, where the Qb can see him coming, which is actually somewhat difficult to find, "if" they can find a 240 pdish speed rusher to pare with him our passing down defense will be amazing. Speed Rushers, guys who dip a shoulder and head upfield are a dime o' dozen and all we need is maybe 150 snaps and the ability to play on Special Teams out of one of them.
I'am on the record, the only way I sign off on a move like Edwards is because Nolan wants Misi in the middle, otherwise, I'am looking for a situational pass rusher like Barnes and that is it..I'am not wasting that value of my 2nd round pick.. I'am trying to figure out which is more important, to go after the situational rusher, or a new inside linebacker.
I have never tossed Misi overboard. I thought he was potentially a good but not likely to be great player when we drafted him and I still think so. I have not seen him do anything that would make me radically revise my original assessment.
At some point, ability stops becoming a factor toward winning. Trading Peyton Manning for Tom Brady would not result in a gain or loss of wins theoretically for either team. I think if we can land DeAngelo Williams, we're set. I just don't see Chris Johnson adding more wins than a healthy (hopefully) DeAngelo Williams.
Never said "you" Rafi, you are not a tosser overboarder () in general the impression I have is most dolphins fans do not really see Misi as a young up and coming OLB, they see more or less a replaceable part.
In Stat Monkey terms: VORP Value Over Replacement Player Or WAR Wins Above Replacement Adding Williams for a contract vs trading our best pass rusher for a more accomplished runner is not necessarily going to mean additional wins.
I mean the difference in ability. Rodgers and Rivers are more prolific than Roethlisberger. Do you really think their ability is counts for extra wins? Considering he has helped his team to 3 SB appearances.
