Thought some of you might find it interesting since it details what is in the new CBA (whether or not that is agreed to by both sides is another matter )... The calendar continues on the link below.... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...prove-comprehensive-agreement-?module=HP11_cp
Some other interesting points... This would assume a player who is holding out, Chris Johnson? has until that date or loses an accrued season. Chris Johnson has been in the league only three years. Meaning if he doesn't report by Aug 9th, he would still be considered a restricted free agent (see below) So much for the 48%? This is just for the 2011 season.
So basically The Day After Tomorrow...all hell breaks loose. I don't care if the guidelines say clubs may negotiate with but not sign players...deals will be reached.
Yeah, the resigning speculation will begin in full fury on Saturday. Even though deals won't be official until Wednesday, they can be agreed to beforehand. Of course, only original teams can negotiate with those same free agents, but as we all know that is never the case. This is going to be a little like the NBA. Deals are going to be in place, trades even, before Wednesday official announcement date. We'll have rumors running rampant. And then Wednesday we'll know for sure. ASSSSUMING the players do the right thing on Friday... ehem....
