IF a deal is done today, tomorrow will be crazy. We can sign, re-do contracts, and cut our own players. We can negotiate, but not sign, our draft picks, rookie FA, and other team's FAs, and can talk, but not make, trades.

Has the makings of a GREAT weekend.

What i do is, drink 1 bottle of water for ever 2-3 beers. I can drink more beer, and not have a headache the next morning. (especially when I will be drinking into the night with this damn Free Agency frenzy HOPEFULLY about to begin)

Nope. We wouldn't be able to do anything until the league year begins either the 27th or 28th if it is ratified today. All we could do is have contact with our players and let them in the facilities.

That's absolute nonsense. Showing respect for a lady's death is soooo far different than hiding behind it. Really surprised you posted this. It's total BS.

The players should take as much time as they want to make a decision. They weren't the ones that initiated the work stoppage. They shouldn't be rushed into doing anything, nevermind rushed into unionizing.

Absolutely, positively, beyond any shadow of any doubt. Both sides said the same two days ago.

Players were upset last night because they were not informed, as they should have been, and the owners pulling a power play. Half should be resolved today.

Do you, or anyone, really care about what Chester Pitts cares about? LOL

The delay will change nothing, ans it is for a part of a day. However, it does show respect, a human thing, not endorsed by everyone.

Players will wait til the very last day until the first preseason comes in jeopardy, whatever that day will be is when they will sign.

Anyone still believing this is a power play or that Heath Evans knows wtf he is talking about is woefully misinformed. Foxworth, the actual player rep from Baltimore has come out in favor of this plan before ratified by the owners. The only contention is the owners looking to force the union to recertify which is illegal, and Smith's ego which would take a huge blow if he gave in. The owners should have given them more time to work out the disciplinary rules and Smith shouldn't be so head strong.

Sure looks like they are just spooked at this point and have some fear of signing the deal. They say it is too soon but it is only a five page deal. Didn't look too awfully complicated.

The CBA the owners voted on is 700 pages.

NFL is trying to do some structural things that will simply stop growth in young players wages, think lower rook minimums, and lower salaries moving forwards for 4 seasons, and a team option #5, then by yr #6 FA.

Problem is, few players reach yr #6 stats speaking.

Sounds like this deal has collapsed.

Thank the Lord for the CFL baby.

If Omar Kelley on twitter is your source for this concern I'd step off the ledge.

While it's true that there might be stuff "in the fine print" that has some issues I doubt there is enough to keep a deal from getting done. The owners didn't put this thing thorugh on their own. It was negotiated with Smith and the PA. The minimum salary has gone up. The cash spending under the cap has gone up and the total percentage of revenue has stayed roughly 50/50 as the players get 55% of TV money which is largest piece of pie.

This is a good deal for the players. Certainly not as good as the one they had before, but pretty good nonetheless. If they were really concerned about an opt out then they should have negotiated one before last night.

Mike Golic was funny. He explained that back in his day, while walking 3 miles to school, both ways uphill, he had to go through 2 a days in full pads. He said that his uniform was completely soaked, and he was sweating bullets.

This was after the stretching exercises.

I have no idea how these players do it. The heat index in Miami for July and August is often 100 degrees, and field temp is higher. I've read where some players can drop 10 pounds in a day of practice.

It is a fair deal for both sides, and it will be done. I believe that IF the owners would have STFU, and not had the press conference, it would already be done.

Try doing it in Oklahoma when its 115 degrees outside.

Its called toughness and desire. Hydrate, be smart and such, but otherwise suck it the **** up. Its football.
