Hopefully, it's also an effective and explosive Bush.

    Wait, what?

Honestly I would have taken Mark Ingram, Andy Dalton or Ryan Mallet. Did you watch any of the Gator games last year? Pouncey was responsible for so many turnovers, it was not even funny. Mallet will be a star in this league, he was very good in a tough SEC. Ingram was the best RB available this year, instead we had to trade picks just to move up to take Thomas. We should be stockpiling picks not giving them away.

Its not hard to Monday Morning a QB selection we could have had. Its also easy to play this fantasy game where we could have traded away everything for a guy that went in the top 5. Most of those guys were unreachable through trade. We also could have traded everything away for Ryan Leaf, its easy to look back now and say we shoulda woulda coulda. I'm pretty sure that Ryan is the only one we really passed on and we did get an anchor at LT for the next 10 years, that was pretty much a lock for the probowl for his career.

And all of those besides Matt Ryan (sorry, no way I'm going to include Tebow) were from before this regime? Yet, he is being critical of this regime?

That is easy the answer is Matt Ryan, look what he a done for the Falcons. It is simple when you need a QB, take the best one available with your first pick. It is really not that hard to find a great QB.

Ingram doesn't fix the QB position, Dalton played for TCU not facing top level teams all year and Mallet had extreme character issues, that made every team in the NFL pass on him for the entire first round. If anybody else really believed he was going to be a for sure star in the NFL sombody would have picked him up early in the first round now the second.

Basically your problem is with Pouncy, which is fine its your right to not like a pick. I just dont see your logic for the most part.

Saints fan here, just wanted to give my 2 cents on Reggie. Don't worry I'm no punk/troll, been a regular MB poster for several years now on a couple boards.

Today's bittersweet, as it's great to clear all that cap space, and it was also obvious it just wasn't going to work out long term with Bush in Nola. But at the same time, he is an electric player. Great member of the community too, he was a little Hollywood when he first arrived in '06, but he's grown into a nice kid, and he works very hard (not a "takes a play off" type player). Good attitude. Team player.

Things I'll miss: GREAT 3rd down back, you will love him for that. When in trouble, hit it to him in the flats & watch him work his magic. I'll miss the athleticism too, seems he's good for several NFL Network slow-mo commercial type plays every year. Another area where Reg is quite underrated is his pass blocking. For a small guy, you'll be surprised how well he can pick up (and snuff) a blitz.

Things I won't: The dancing on PR's. He'll get you a couple TD's back there, but he'll lose 3-5 yards on PR's quite frequently too. Also, the fumbling. Ya, he does that. My heart was always in my throat when Reggie had the ball. You just never knew what was going to happen. Sick cut for a big gain? Fumble? So boom & bust, dude's probably taken 5 years off my life from that stuff. The injuries. He's always banged up with something it seems. Athletic as hell, but unfortunately he just doesn't have the frame for this league as a full-time guy

If the Phins are planning on making him the go-to back, I give him until Halloween (if not earlier) before he's missing multiple weeks with something. But as a change of pace back, he'll flourish. Best of luck to you in Miami Reg, he'll go down as one of the more memorable Saints in club history.

PS- Just looking at the gifs in this thread, I heart all the Saving Silverman ones, seems to be an inside joke here. Haha I thought I was the only guy who loved that movie (or was even aware of it). I wanna party with you! I wanna party with YOUUU!!!!

He has done an amazing job of handing the ball off.

When the running game isn't as good he has looked pretty Henne like.

You are right it is easy to be a Monday morning QB and say we should have drafted this person or that person. Here is my point though, QB is the most important position it should be be adressed in the first round with the best one available at the time, until you finally get it right. When you take the best one available with your first pick I think it would dramatically increase your odds of hitting on an ALL-PRO pick. Waiting to pick one in the 2nd round baffles me

I will let you answer your own question? Which would you rather have, going to a conference championship game like Ryan did last year with the Falcons or having an ALL-PRO LT that lead your team to a 7-9 record. Me I will take the playoffs all day long. So yes I was very disappointed in Long's success in leading this team last year to a below average record.

Are you implying that the only difference between the Falcons and Dolphins is Ryan and Jake Long?

    REALLY?!?

Here is my logic, the team should be built around your QB. You just keep drafting one until you finally find one. And by picking one with your first pick you increase your odds of finding a successful one. Can you tell me the logic of not drafting a QB in the first round in 28 years, this is really sad.

Team sport my friend. Matt Ryan is what he is because of the team he went to and the team he has right now. If it were all up to one player Tom Brady and Peyton Manning would be the AFC championship every year. Ryan has a great running game to lean on, HOF tight end, very above average recievers, and a good line. Doesn't suprise me that he has had success. You can't talk about how bad our O-Line and team is then say that Henne or any other QB's should have been so much better. Ryan would have struggled here just like any other QB.

What I am saying is you build your team around a QB, not a LT. Who was the LT of the last two Super Bowl Champions? QB's wins championships not LT's This is not just about not drafting Matt Ryan, is about not having the guts to take a chance on a QB in the first round, which the Dolphins can't seem to do. IT is also about trying to take the best available QB when you pick in the first round.
If you were a GM and were trying to build a Super Bowl winner, would you want to try to find the best QB you could? Or would you just keep trying to pick up other teams leftover QB's? You have to admit the most important position in football is QB?

Good Qb's find a ways to win games. Just look at last years playoff teams, for the most part they all have strong leaders at the QB position. To me finding a great QB to lead the team is more important than finding a great LT. All I am saying is finding a QB to lead the team should have been a higher priority than it has been. Give a great QB and an average LT, any day over a average QB and a great LT!
