per Oregon reporter: http://www.oregonlive.com/nfl/index.ssf/2011/07/quarterback_matt_moore_to_sign.html Credit to PhinsRock on twitter. I don't believe that's the same PhinsRock that posts here. Have to think the Orton deal is not going to happen now.
OMFG. This is just too rich. Wow. Suck for Luck is on ladies and gentlement. Maybe not intentional, and I'm not saying I want it to happen, but this team has the potential to be BAD. EDIT: Then again, this COULD be a precursor to trading Chad Henne as part of the package for Orton. Just saying. If so, I recant what I said about Suck for Luck. They could win games with Kyle Orton.
I've got nothing against the signing per se. It's worth figuring out who the real Matt Moore is - the one who lit it up in 2009 or the one who stunk it up a year later. On and by itself, this is a low risk signing with a potentially high reward. The thought of going into the season with Henne and Moore though is not one that instills me with a major confidence boost in our record.
Well , from the importance the QB position has held for this team we cant't be surprised , disappointed perhaps , surprised no. Better than overpaying however.
but they can't with Henne? Is our QB position really worse? with Henne/Moore vs Henne/Thigpen? I would say it is the same.
Matt Moore is not an upgrade over Henne. I guess we will suck and draft a QB in the top 10 next year. I have no confidence in our offense now. Feel kinda bad for the D.
I watched a lot of him his senior year at OSU, and I liked him very much then. Very very much. Granted that is not the NFL.
The commotion is that it appears it will be yet another year without an above average QB ... or average to be more precise .
He has been efficient as a back up and spot starter , I don't think that is the area most of us were looking to address though.
I like Henne, so I don't mind this. Moore will be a serviceable backup and good competition for Chad.
Again... not sure what signing a #2/#3 QB has to do with who our starter will be? This has zero bearing on whether we trade for Orton or not.
I have to think if this is real then it's over on the Orton front, I just don't see a package where Denver would take or want Henne.
I've never sat and broke down any of Matt Moore's plays (I figure we'll have a dozen videos and analysis in no time when this becomes official), but going by purely by the stats, I have a hard time believing that someone could light it up in a five game stretch like Moore did in 09 and not have some talent to work with. Then again, you got to wonder where that talent went when he completely stunk up the join a year later.
IS IT???? With how crappy this team will probably be, you'll overpaying for any ticket or DirectTV you purchase to watch these butt-scrapers.
we are not anywhere near that bad to be in postion to be picking top 3 with this team we have.....no way
It looks like the Broncos are standing there with their pants down, hold their collective crotches, staring up the "what do we do now" river.
I'm ok with that if Denver wants a high draft pick. Moore and Henne both have some level of potential and we need our picks.
It all depends on one's opinion of Henne. Our D is awesome, but I have no faith in our offense if Henne is at the helm. None. We went 7-9 last year. Has our offense improved? I would say no. Has our defense improved? I would say no. We could EASILY go 5-11 this year and have a top 5-7 draft pick.
Are you serious? You're NOT seeing what the commotion is? The Dolphins now have 4 QBs on roster, at the very least SUGGESTING that the Orton trade is dead in the water, and you're NOT seeing what the commotion is? Give me a break! Even if you're a Chad Henne supporter you've got to be wary of this. It means that EITHER they're giving Chad Henne 16 games to start again, OR they're dumping him outright in the Orton trade.
I love how all of a sudden we are doomed and 7-9, or 6-10 because we didnt get neckbeard ****ing orton. REALLY!?!?! Jesus christ dolfans. You know who Mark Sanchez is? Chad Henne (in my opinion) is NOT worse than Mark Sanchez. Hell, he does things better than him. But Mark Sanchez goes to the afc championship 2 years in a row. Are the jets trying to trade for Kyle Orton?! No. They have a sick defense, good running game, and good coaching. We have a good defense, potential for good running game, and crap coaching. I like Henne, we can win with him IMO.
Typical butthurt Dolphin fan comment. Matt Moore has shown potential so far. At the very least, he becomes a decent backup (something Pigpen was never for us). Already an upgrade. Henne still has potential as well. QB- Henne, Moore, Brandstater/Devlin RB- Thomas, Bush, Hilliard, Grigsby/Sheets WR- Marshall, Hartline, Bess, Gates, ??? FB/HB- Polite, Clay TE- Fasano, Clay?, Shuler OL- Long-Incognito-Pouncey-Jerry-Carey That's a damn good offensive depth chart, compared to last season (and free agency isn't even close to being over). Even if Henne sucks ***, this defense has the ability to win 7-8 games alone. We have enough offensive talent now imo to carry Henne to a few extra wins if he sucks. We'll be fine. If Henne is awful, we have the draft/FA/trades next year. lol
I recall Russ Lande liked Moore much more than any other draft guru before the 2007 draft. Seemingly every other source had him as low round or priority free agent level player and Lande raved about him and had him like a top 5 QB that year. Granted Lande is far from infallible, but I've thought for a while that QB was one of his better positions to analyze, based on some of his against the grain predictions that turned out to be pretty correct.
You like Brandstater better as a #3 developmental QB over Devlin? IMO, Devlin would be more likely to win that battle.
