LOL. Exactly. I'm still more worried about our coaching than I am about any player depth. Watching the games, I can't say whether or not Henne is doing what he is coached to do. It's really impossible to say unless you are involved with the team. What I can say 100% for certain is that so far in Miami Sparano's offense and preparation have been a joke.
Well I did watch and study all of Moore's plays, well before this free agency finally started. I did the same with all the potential starting QBs from Vince Young to Donovan McNabb, Matt Hasselbeck, Carson Palmer, Seneca Wallace before I realized he had re-signed, Troy Smith, Tarvaris Jackson, Drew Stanton, Caleb Hanie, Tyler Thigpen, Jimmy Clausen, Kyle Orton, Matt Flynn and Kevin Kolb. Matt Moore was near the bottom of all those guys, to me...from what I saw. And I'm not the only one to think so. If you were to rank all 85 QBs that played this year on PFF's ratings list...you know who ranks #81, ahead of only Rusty Smith, Derek Anderson, Todd Collins and Max Hall? That would be Matt Moore.
really???15 starts in carolina where he had to compete with clausen!!!!!**** my 14 year old son could have gotten 15 stsrts
Lande still likes him: http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/sto...ore-may-be-best-young-qb-on-free-agent-market Also, from his Twitter this morning: "@RUSSLANDE Russell Lande While I like Orton, I think Matt Moore is a vastly under-rated QB and will easily win the starting QB job and will shine in 2011."
The one positive is Ireland didnt cave and send a 2nd round pick for Orton. That being said, i live in Charlotte, and have seen a lot of Matt Moore, i am not a fan, and one of the big knocks on him down here was that he was not willing to put the classroom work in to be a starting QB.
right..... because the difference between Henne and Orton is the difference between drafting 1st and playing in the Super Bowl.
I love the gigantic leap forward on Offense we've taken drafting a Center... who plays better at another position, bringing in Matt Moore, and a 10 carry a game running back. OH, and ****ING CLEVELAND'S Offensive Coordinator. Hang on to your butts. 7-9, yes we can.
So how come he had a pretty darn terrific five game stretch in 09? I'm not trying to be confrontational here, I just haven't watched any tape and it's rather unusual for a bad QB to play like that for more than a game or two before reverting to his old sucky ways.
It's not because they didn't get neckbeard, it's because they didn't get ANYONE. And no, Matt Moore does not qualify as "someone".
For me it definitely is better than overpaying. I am luke warm to Orton , for the right price I think it would be a good signing/trade , for an overvalued price I completely am not. If we spend a 2 on Orton and god forbid he isn't the QB this team needs to actually compete and win against this division and the AFC then we have less assets to PROPERLY address the QB position next year. Direct tv is rumoured to be free this year , the NFL's gift to fans , maybe if you had last year , for me it is less than 10 dollars a week . Even if I wouldn't watch the Dolphins that is a bargain to have any game I prefer to see each and every week. There still are a lot of really good players available so I will try to be patient , I would have liked to sign VY , Olsen would have been a great receiving TE for whatever QB we start . Sidney Rice was a bargain imo , let's see what today brings besides Eminem .
I like this. Let them live or die with their guy Henne. It's the nature of the business. Although given the verbal fellatio Stephen Ross performed on Ireland this morning I imagine that Ireland thinks he's safe and that he's not jeapordizing his future for Tony. If they suck so be it. Ireland will have a new coach that he helps choose and all draft picks at his disposal to pick his QB.
No, it doesn't inherently mean either. They are not committing a grave resource or snap count sin if Moore ends up at the #3 QB behind Henne and Orton. He's very similar to Tyler Thigpen in that regard. He's a developmental prospect that has seen NFL action and at least had some sort of upside.
yes we are doomed, but only with guys like you who see the bridges burning with no actual snap taken...unbelievable
Did you catch my posts in a few threads briniging up how many Spread scheme players we have brought in this off season? Devlin ran the most devoted Spread scheme of all the QB's on our roster. I wouldnt be shocked at all if he stands out early. I also think it's worth mentioning that the Spread is not at all a complicated scheme to learn and operate. It can be very simple in terms of many of its reads and operations. Most the time the offense knows what it is going to do before the ball is snapped on many of its reads and the whole Spread concept is based on forcing the Defense to tip it's hand on its coverage by spreading them out. Anyhow back to your comment - Devlin may very well be the best QB on our roster right now. I'm not getting too excited about anything until I see what we are going to run and how we prepare our players for success. Daboll better be aggressive in terms of pushing his philosophy because if he's a submissive to Sparano we could be doomed. If he pulls his "we're saving what we are really going to do for the regular season" BS he needs to be kicked to the curb!
We didnt improve a team that went 7-9 while guys like YOU beat your chest, every team in our division got better.
I live here in Charlotte, I heard all the "Moore is the future" after that stretch. But the fact is (i watched the games, 2 of them live), the guy was slinging it around, backyard style football, and not one defense had any tape on him to prepare. He threw rainbows up for steve smith to go get (its worked sometimes), he never really made throws that made me so "omg hes good"....hes serviceable. Also, he was playing the giants and vikings, the last 2 weeks of the season i believe, and those 2 teams were either resting starters, or had NOTHING to play for. Matt Moore came out last season, week one against the giants, with the giants having tape to watch on Matt, and he was absolutley ABYSMAL!
All I can say is what stuck out to me in his 2010 tape. And that was that, believe it or not, his surrounding cast played a lot better than most would lead you to believe. They made plays and even bailed him out on plays. HE was the one that let that offense down, far more often than not.
absolutley correct. He was playing defenses with no ways to prepare for him. He was slinging it around, and throwing it up for guys to bail him out, and they did sometimes. He is NOT a good qb
I'm fine with this move. I lost confidence in Henne during this last season, but he wouldn't be the first QB to have something in his brain click in his third season as a starter, and I am interested to see how he would do when not being completely hamstrung by incompetent playcalling and untimely wildcat calls (assuming those two things improve this year). If he improves, we're set for ten years, and if he sucks, we probably finish with a middle of the road record, a new management team, and the ammo to move into the top ten for a QB. Preferable to the possibility of 10-6 and a first round exit every year with Orton and no changes IMO.
They're already running a circus down here, so there's no need for another clown like Vince make it even worse.
well what about the young guys on our roster, you think they don´t have a learning curve and will be better after another year of experience, thats what we have to assume no ?
Meh..so what? If he comes in and plays lights out and beats out Henne, GREAT! If he comes in and plays like the back-up we need, great! The future QB for the Miami Dolphins will either be Henne or next year's 1st round pick. Henne will get this year to show if he is or isn't our future.
You act like the other teams in our division didnt get young talent. Stop it. We are no closer to winning the division or a playoff game then we were in January.
We do have a good defense , but we have needs there too , the run game has questions that equal the potential imo , and crap coaching speaks for itself unfortunately. Say what you will about Sanchez , he didn't have many starts in college and has won and made plays to win when needed , Henne has been a starter since he was how old? and his decision making doesn't appear to have significantly improved since he was a starter at Michigan. I don't think he is garbage , or more so I do feel he can be better without Henning , but if this team is banking on him to lead this team into the playoffs then imo then imo we will have a new regime next year. Maybe that is actually what we need though.
so how is matt moore arm strenght wise, any throws he can´t make ? just from a physical standpoint guys, so no trash talking please
actually no the other teams in our division dont have young talent, the jets are an old team, so are the patriots, the nucleus of young players is in our favor
You sure? I think thats only for vet free agents, we traded for Reggie Bush. Hes on the field with a dolphins visor on, I think he already signed the contract....
The nucleus is in our favor. If my fat *** is the back up for the Pats, I still take their nucleus of TOM BRADY AND I over Matt Moore and Chad Henne.
A bad joke , and an old one that has worn out it's welcome. Would like your opinion , do you think Henne reads the field , recognizes defenses well and quick enough to be the QB Miami needs to compete and win ? A so so QB isn't making the playoffs in this division imo.
Ya funny ha ha More like hard to believe We do seem to be evolving into a team of one step forward two steps back...........and usually on the short end of being able to evaluate anything..........but every once and a while throw in a ligit (Dansby) to give us a resemblance of credibility and needed hope......... How do we go forward when we don't know which way were facing ?
The second this trade goes down, I am rooting for 2 wins all year....against the Jets.....that should wrap up Luck....call me a hater whatever guys I really dont care....
