Lex Hilliard seems more than adequate for a #3 and is under contract. Plus Charles Clay will probably get some carries.
just say no to Ronnie or Ricky ..... there really are a lot of options here should we decide to go that route .... RBs are not selling like hot cakes ....
Still would love Bradshaw.....then Ronnie If we are basing our success on our RB and the running game I'd think that we'd a least have one solid experience known factor. Be nice to see D thomas out their for a least a qtr FGS....... Bush come on he won't be able to pull a full load and it's just out right stupid to put him in that position, JMO And if coach S does do that you can add another check mark in the what was I thinking column
We carried 4 running backs last yr (RB/RW/Cobbs/Hilliard) with Lexy more or less slated to replace Cobbs as the #4 back, we need one more. May sound crazy, but I want Clinton Portis, though Ronnie B would also fit in well as he can also do the WC and block on 3rd downs and catch well.
I'd be cool with Ronnie. Yea, he was off last year, but so was everyone except Wake and...........our damn kicker. Can't believe I gave kudos to a kicker, I must die now.
If they go with 4 spots: You have Reggie and Daniel 1a and 1b I believe Sheets and Grigsby is fighting for 1 spot Then you have Hilliard. If you want to bring in someone to compete with Lex: I was thinking Kevin Smith, Jerrious Norwood, Laurence Maroney, Jason Snelling. I wouldn't bring someone of the caliber of Ricky or Ronnie or Portis, unless the top 2 guys gets hurt.
Daniel Thomas, Reggie Bush, Lex Hilliard, Nic Grigsby, Kory Sheets Looks fine to me. I'd like to keep 4 of them. Grigsby/Sheets could be nasty STers and both add more speed to the offense. edit: My wishlist is Bush, Thomas, Hilliard, and Grigsby. But I like Sheets a lot too.
Except RW outplayed RB. So it wasn't JUST Wake. RW would be good here for one more season at least. Who would have thought an old Otis Anderson would have been the Giants Super Bowl MVP at his age. RW still has enough to give this team a boost. Even more than a younger, yet injury prone Ronnie Brown.
Can you elaborate? Why not someone of the caliber of Ricky or Ronnie? These guys, especially RW would be a good mentor for our Rook. And Williams, with more zone blocking, would excel, IMO.
You better change your mind regarding Carpenter because he didn't have as great a season as you think.A matter of fact he was tied for 4th with 30 field goals made but he also tied for most field goals missed last season with 11. Percentage of field goals made was 37th in the NFL... From 0-39 yards Carpenter was money...40 yards or more not so much as far as touch backs he was just average with 14 His average of 65.8 yards put him 16th...nothing special Not a great season for a kicker
My pick would be Ronnie B....at this point he is one of the best RB's available for what I am assuming to be a rather inexpensive contract. He's already familiar with the guys on offense and since it doesn't look like we are going after Bradshaw I think he is just the best fit. I love Ricky but he just fumbles too much and can't pound the ball like RB can between the tackles
After letting Barber go to the Bears, we would be fools not to resign Ronnie. Lex is a pre season all star, but cannot run the rock in this league. Get Ronnie a 2 year deal please! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd be fine with either Ronnie or Ricky as my #3 RB. If I had to choose, it would be Ricky. cheaper, harder worker, better RB if he's only getting a few plays/game. Let Lexy, Grigsby and Sheets fight it out for the 4th position. If Lexy loses and gets cut, it's not a big deal. He's replaceable.
I agree. Plus he is the Big Banger type RB that we seem to be lacking otherwise. I'm hoping Clay has some downhill running in him, as that could make him a very nice addition as well. I really think they are going to give Lex a long hard look this year and either increase his role with the O or cut bait.
Okay, I changed my mind about our kicker..... he's out..lol But I'm still on board with Ronnie. IMO, he's a lot better in the blitz pickup.
RICKY! Ronnie would be nice too, but I feel someone is going to pick him up soon if Dolphins don't show interest. None of the Running Backs on our roster have had experience being a feature back in the NFL. Bush is exciting, but has only played all 16 games once. And this is not a passing team. The Colts and Patriots can get away with having any running back and don't need a top 10 rushing game. We need it bad to compete, Top 5 perhaps. And about Carpenter the kicker...I think he was fine. He won some games. The kicker should not be relied on so much though. Can't blame him for missing some of those long field goals because the Dolphins could never move the ball enough.
I just think there might be some dynamics keeping Irish from resigning ronnie and ricky, negative ones, I really don't know if its good for this team to have either here after how things went down. I also like putting Reggie in a position of leadership and mentor, I think he's ready for that role and I believe from his comments he's ready to embrace that role.
