I can understand the thought process behind Wallace active because of his special team prowess, but not having Gates active seems really silly. Put the guy in 5-7 plays a game to draw the defense, throw a couple of bombs to him. Why else did we draft him? Wallace adds absolutely nothing, IMO, as a receiver to this team
wait, what?, gates will be on the 53...we'll carry 5..Marshall, Bess, Hart, Gates, Wallace....I don't see the confusion.
I'm sure Gates will be active on game day as long as he shows in preseason what he's been showing in camp. It'd be absolutely insane and ******ed not to.
I think JT's value to the team will be as much helping the young guys, and Wake some, as his play on the field. I would think Misi has to be happy, and absorbing more than he learned last year.
Dont mistake carzy motor and talent for knowhow and skill. Jts older but you can bet hes forgotten more things about the craft than wakes learned in his time.
So does Gates become the new Patrick Turner. Sparano: "I always meant to put him out there but never got around to it"
JT has more sack than anyone now playing the game. He got many of those with his head, as opposed to his body. I know he can teach Wake a thing or two, and Misi more than he now knows on rushing the QB.
I think with JT's pride and Cam Wake opposite him, we will get the best out of JT this year. Pod, are you saying that wallace is going to be on the game day roster over Gates.? or because its 46, were only gonna activate 4 receivers and wallace is gonna beat gates out for the spot.?
Please. Let me know when Wake puts together the body of work JT has. He's showing great potential but has to do it consistently and have the full game that JT has had. Your JT hate is bleeding through.
Most of the time in recent years we only activated 4 of the 5 WRs on the 53 man roster. I don't consider Wallace a lock to make the 53 man roster. Gates would really have to mess up not to make it.
Yep. He said it can put you off balance and can put you on your back. He prefers the pull & rip or rip and pull or something like that. That was the best part of that interview and what he said made a lot of sense.
He was right, however it is one move that should be in their arsenals though as Bruce Smith said: "You have to set them up"
Hopefully, the problem with that is Sparano is a roster fanatic and if he can get similar production out of Bess/Carroll/Bush that is one roster slot left open for an additional Lineman or LB.
Rushing the passer is as much a mental game as a physical one KillahP, if a player is known for a swim or arm over then the Olineman will simply be ready for it, when the rusher just shows speed and rip and club moves, but then breaks out the arm over at a crucial moment in the game the OLinemen is unprepared for it.
