http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/08/11/pre-preseason-power-rankings/ Miami is at #20. a good read.
I am really wary of the Saints and can see them making a deep run. The fact that they signed Shaun Rogers and Aubrayo Franklin has been underplayed. PFF rated them as the number 1 Pass and number 1 Run DT over the past 3 years respectively, I believe.
Very good summation IMO. Not to turn this into a Henne thread, but that is a very accurate account. I think it underscores just how important that position is. Championship caliber defense. Good receiving corps and some speed elsewhere. If the other spots are average, a guy like Brady could win a championship. Granted, that's a Hall of Famer. But insert, say.....Josh Freeman. We're probably ranked in the Top 10 on that list. Again, not debating Henne. Just how we'd be viewed and the level of expectation that would come with a certain level of QB play.
I don't think the Browns have the worst talent in the league either but I could well see them finish dead last. New HC, new OC, new DC and a switch from 3-4 to 4-3 lacking core pieces in the front 7 and faced with a shortened offseason ... ranking them last is actually pretty smart. Couple of days ago, you wanted to cut off your little Aqua. Cut the Titans some slack.
I agree Muck, and even more so on NOT a Henne thread. They are giving our D it's due, and are faulting the team more than Henne, which I also believe to be fair. I think if our RB's were more established, we would move up the list as well.
Have you seen the titans roster? If Chris Johnson isnt there teams are going to absolutely hump them. I hate that we are ranked 20th. How the hell are the Texans 9th? The Texans are everyone's Cinderella every year and when the clock strikes midnight they become frogs again. Why would this year be any different? It wont be. Ill take our defense and mediocre offense over their crappy defense (crappy aside from Ryans/Williams/Steroidhead Cushing) and good offense. I think a lot of people are underestimating our team. Haters gonna hate....
They have us ranked #9 in the AFC behind Pitt, Pats, Jets, Balt, Houst, Indy, SD and KC. At this point, it is difficult to argue our rank.
Yeah, they are listing the same ones I did, aside from KC, that we have to beat out for a playoff berth.
I hope fans don't want Henne to fail. But he is right in the sense that it's comforting to know that IF he does fail, we know we have to move on.
