One thing that was weird was him saying that Matt Moore is not in competition with Henne. My thoughts on that were:

    1. Finally, Sparano gives a (albeit qualified) vote of confidence in the guy we all know will be the QB this year
    2. Jeff Ireland can't be happy with what Tony Sparano just said.

All off season long they talked about getting competition for Chad Henne. That was their main goal. When they signed Moore, Ireland said they did that. Sparano in effect just told him, "No, you didn't".

I know Ireland had said all offseason long that they wanted to bring in competition for Henne. However, did Ireland ever say that Moore was that competition for Henne? I don't recall him ever saying that.

IMO, Ireland wanted to bring in some competition... but when his targets for that competition didn't work out... he brought in Moore as a backup.

Did Ireland ever say that there would be a competition between Henne and Moore?

I interpreted what he said as that its gonna take more than a few practices and a game to make it a competition..for him to say otherwise considering both bodies of work, would be a slap in the face to Henne..I think he did the right thing, but I think what your implying is if there is some sort of misscommunication or rif between the two? Sparano and Irish? I don't think this is enough info to make that case if true.

If you watch the whole presser, Sparano really praises Henne for being able to handle pressure well; for his scramble for a first down, his pocket awareness, mobility, etc. He just said he should have thrown that ball away on that bad pick and kind of shrugged it off. I can see a lot of improvement based on the very things he mentioned. Henne should absolutely get a pass on this hypercriticism he's been receiving lately.

Moore is a solid, savvy veteran. I'm pleasantly surprised with him as well.

The coaches and regime have lied so often, or just talked nonsense that means nothing, that I just don;t care what they say anymore.

A shame, becuase I would love some insight on the team, but I don;t feel I'll get it from the coaches' public statements.

I think its more accurate to say that the fans and media were talking about bringing in competition all offseason. Ireland gave some very lukewarm endorsements of Henne that helped fan the flames I don't recall him or anyone else saying anything past the obvious, that we'd have to find replacements for Penny and Thigpen.

What Ireland did speak about early and often was the need to add speed and playmaking ability. Which is exactly what he's tried to do. It seems like his Henne related comments were blown out of proportion to say the least.

Well I dont know if you guys remember this but when the season ended Ireland and Sparano were not on the same page and Sparano lost confidence in Ireland because of it and several talk show host said that he didnt think sparano will last long but anyone can be wrong when it comes to the dolphins hell I thought we were going to really upgrade our offense when the season ended but here we passed on vince young and we passed on te Zach Miller .

I bet Ireland and Sparano still dont like each other too much and this may not have any bearing on the topic per sae but its still there and it is showing to be kinda true.
