it is being alleged. The proof comes with corroboration. I am sure that will come as well.

UPDATE: Manny Navarro is now saying that the "Tainted 12" will not suit up for the opener. But yeah..NOTHING TO SEE HERE!! MOVE ALONG PEOPLE!!!

Turn on the radio. In fact...turn on ESPN in about 15 minutes. Read the Herald tomorrow.

More crappy investigative journalism with little evidence that has no bearing on the joint investigation of the NCAA and Miami. Can hardly wait.

The politics work both ways. Miami will not survive a second beating. The ACC and ESPN (and their TV contract) do not want to see Miami's program die.

Miami's program is not as relevant as it used to be. My fear is that they will be thrown under the bus by ESPN and the ACC.

ESPN is beginning a drumbeat...so I think we know where one of them stand.

You know, if the probe can focus on just the window of the statute..then we might get off rather easy. Although Charles Robinson says that it will be expanded, which is not good.

I can;t see how they hurt the football program that much if the window is only the statute. The basketball program looks like it is ****ed though.

I really don't and I'm sorry if that offends you.

I don't believe in the amateur student athlete hokum that the NCAA tries to sell. The athletes are there for one reason, to play their sports and earn money for the institution and the conference. They are not there to go to school. If some of them take advantage of the education then great, but the fact is a large percentage of the guys at the big time schools don't, won't or simply can't.

I see absolutely no problem with Cam Newton shopping his services to the highest bidder. This is America, right? Capitalism and all that? And this is coming from a liberal Democrat

Miami HAD to report it, thats the thing, it is too big not to report.....If they dont report it, it makes them look REAL bad, as opposed to them playing the "report it I am a victim" card they are doing now...

I dont see how because Miami reported unsolicited, makes them any less guilty...

    We didn't even bid.

Even what Shapiro did for Pachan, who was as important a recruit as there was for us, was basically nothing:

    Bryce Brown:

    Is this even considered bidding?

Donna Shalala could bury us. That moron is basically holding our fate in her hands with the NCAA investigators.

Maybe we can throw the basketball program under the bus to save the football program?

Oh..and that article posted...was compiled by a bunch of 35k a year journalists.

I am sure that the Toad of Coral Gables could have done the same backround checks and not accepted this scumbag's money and then not compounded it by kissing his *** FOR MORE.

Shalala, if she has ANY HONOR, should resign TODAY.

It's pathetic if he had no idea. It's been said that he kept Shapiro away (far away) from the program when he was here. Not so much.

Offended? Hardly. I'm not one of these righteous people that act like everything is holy...

However, if you want to be paid for on field production and paid to come to play on a certain team, then you shouldnt be playing at a school. Play in the UFL/CFL. If the players choose not to take advantage of the education they are offered, thats on them. If I offer you a million dollars, and you choose not to accept it, thats not my fault. Thats your fault. Same goes for the very valuable education they are offered... especially at a school like UM.

Should high schools pay for players too? I mean, they are athletes playing at prestigious high schools hoping to get recruited by colleges. They are at those high schools for one reason.... to play their sports. Should they get paid in high school too?

Now, I'm completely in favor of a player accepting marketing and advertising deals. I dont see any harm in that if they player has worked hard and is marketable. However, anything more than that is unacceptable IMO.

In 2001...Shapiro started a sports agency and immediately made a pledge to UM of 150k for his name to be on a student lounge.

Miami took the donation...no questions asked.

    How stupid can you be?

Pat Forde says that Miami is eligible for "repeat violator" status because of the baseball teams violations in 2003.

He was a CO-OWNER, and appeared in the articles of incorporation. SO YES..he STARTED a sports agency. Don't give into wearing the Ibis costume.

    Here is the proof:

it took me 5 minutes to find that. of Course..UM takes checks from this guy.

appears is every single renewal...here is the last one in 2008 before the ponzi scheme came tumbling down.

    http://www.sunbiz.org/pdf/407002B0.pdf

If I sign a deal with ANYBODY..I do a backround search that costs me 5 minutes, and I can find their entire legal and license history in business int eh state of lorida. I pay $45, I get their credit report, and their entire history int eh united states.

The U couldn't do what I do, when I sign a contract with a client for a few grand. In their case..they take millions, which suggest massive corruption.

That doesn't prove he had any involvement in any type of management.

Either way, thats ten years ago. I haven't seen any legitimate evidence of anything regarding current players. The guy has some text message records and some receipts from restaurants and nightclubs. Even by his own admission, he used cash to avoid any trail. How convenient.

And I'm sure as hell not wearing an Ibis costume. As I said before, even a slap on the wrist will be the death of the football program. All I am saying is that people are making this out to be some almighty scandal, when the reality is all he did was let these kids party with him. Just the fact that they are even saying he "bought drinks" for kids should tell you everything you need to know about the severity of what he did.

I am sure, most universities are lining up to take 150k from sports agencies.

I have a hard time seeing the NCAA giving UM any significant sanctions for a $150k donation that was already returned.

Also, keep in mind that people haven't even started fact-checking the Yahoo story yet. Should be interesting to see how much of it actually checks out the simple common sense test.
