muscle beat me to a response, but I'll add this: if the guy is good enough to be our #3 hitter, why is he suddenly in need of time in the minors?

The entire team is playing poorly this year, except maybe for a couple of guys like Anibal and Stanton. But LoMo gets demoted? Yeah, that has nothing to do with Twitter, I'm sure. (And notice I'm not arguing with the Wes Helms release.)

I agree. I know Morrison has been struggling but it's not like the Marlins are fighting for a playoff spot and he's really hurting the team. I would probably keep him up and let him just figure it out in the big leagues. I think it's more of him being punished by off the field stuff.

I don't know how many times I have to say that I don't think he should have been sent down. I'm just pointing out that his numbers certainly justify it.

You're last point doesn't make much sense either. You're comparing a player in his first full season to the best offensive shortstop in baseball? Hanley has 5 years to fall back on. LoMo has what, exactly? One exceptional month?

You're pointing out that the numbers say Logan Morrison 'deserves' to be sent down. Whether you agree with the send down or not you said he deserved it. I said that those stats should only be one factor among several others that decides whether a player is sent to the minors. I actually thought Hanley was a good example of a team using several factors, I said nothing about it being the same situation. From what you posted Hanley Ramirez 'deserves' to be sent to the minor leagues right now. Maybe I can come up with a better example. It took about three seasons of Jeff Francoeur recognizing the strike zone as well as a little leaguer before he was sent down. The reason was because Atlanta had high hopes for him. Even after waiting all that time the send down was still criticized to an extent.

Why would a non contending team send a highly regarded young player who it hopes will be a star for them in the not so distant future down to the minors? Why not let him work out his problems against major league pitching? I agree that this is the team trying to punish him for being outspoken. How dare he say things about them or their favorite diva Hanley Ramirez.

I don't know how you can cite Jeff Francuer as an example of what an organization should do, considering he's no longer a Brave due to poor performance. I'm not saying he would have been better off had he been sent down, but clearly Atlanta's approach didn't work either.

He was among the worst major league everyday starters in the league. Period. If LoMo was performing, do you really think they'd send him down? If you want to say he was sent down for a combination of performance and off=field issues, I would agree with that.

And let's get something straight here, he was more than just outspoken. He called Hanley out in the media for not getting to the ballpark early enough, while later acknowledging that Hanley's never late, just not early enough for his liking. Then goes after the owner and FO for firing Mallee. Then calls out Hanley for being hurt (even though he's never played in less than 140 games.) Then cancelled a charity event and blamed it on the Marlins marketing department. Then doesn't show up for a required meet and greet with season ticket holders. Then *****es all night for getting demoted.

In what world are you allowed to criticize your coworkers, criticize your bosses, not show up for work, be one of the worst in your industry and still keep your job?

And let's be real here, he'll be down for 2 weeks maximum. If these two weeks gets him to start walking again, it'll be worth it.

Lmao. You guys are actually defending Morrison and coming at Hanley. Have you guys watched this season at all? This demotion is very deserving based on his play and big mouth. He needs to shut up and play baseball.

Who's coming at Hanley? I see people coming at management, which is nothing new for this thread and fanbase.

This is going to end well for both sides....

I'm starting to wonder if the Marlins might consider moving him at the end of the year although I'm selfishly rooting for Ozzie Guillen to be the next manager only for his and LoMo's Twitter exchanges back and forth.

Yeah, I think we can begin to count down LoMo's remaining days as a Marlin. Hope I'm wrong and this blows over.

Tommy Hutton was on WQAM today and he's backing off his original statements supporting LoMo. Apparently he had a few conversations with some players that changed his outlook. He said during the entire interview that he basically needs to cut the crap, shut up, and play baseball.

So did the demotion of LoMo come from Loria himself?

Congrats to Ricky Nolasco on becoming the Marlins all time strikeout leader.

And welcome back, LoMo. Play nice, Samson.

In the past, I could live with his inconsistency. But he isn't even striking guys out anymore. That worries me.
