And here's the first one. I hope it isn't going to be like this all year long from either side. "Told you Henne sucks". "Told you Henne needed the chance".

I don't think it'll be like this ALL year.. perhaps 4 to 8 games. I suspect one side will have been proven correct by that time. Hopefully, one way or the other.

Many poor passes are completed. That is a terrible definition of a poor throw.

I also pointed out the many degrees of passes. You just decided to ignore most of my argument and made your decision that it was a good pass based on the point that the wide receiver got his hand on the ball, which is plain silly.

The good: The defense and play-calling in general.

The bad: Chad Henne didn't have 5 TD passes. Cut him. GENUINE CHAT

If you are going to judge my opinion, you should at least get it right.

EDIT: Plus at the same time, how is it not, "its your opinion or die." The people I have talked to about this are at least being just as stubborn as I am.

    My good and bad.

    Good

Henne: Looked comfortable and aggressive. He relies more on his feet and makes some plays even when the blocking is poor. He goes through his progressions and is making fewer poor throws. I thought he missed Fasano for a TD on that pass that was almost picked on the sideline. He may just not trust Fasano to make that catch. He just missed on those two long passes. It seems to me that just putting a little more air under those passes will turn those into scores for us.

Bush: Looked quick and relatively powerful. He never seemed to go down with the first defender. Okay as a runner, dynamic as a receiver out of the backfield.

Thomas: Struggled up to and on those first goal line carries, but then looked more comfortable. My sense was that he was learning and adapting very quickly.

Sheets and Grigsby: Sheets ran better than last week and Grigsby's blocking was stellar.

Clay: Made an appearance and had a nice catch and some nice blocks.

OL: did a better job of opening holes although still inconsistent.

Defense: Shut down a very good run offense. They did struggle with the TEs though. You just can't be to critical when your opponent doesn't even get to your side of the field until the last play of the 3rd qtr.

Offense: The ball was spread around to many targets. They threw deep and though they didn't connect it seemed the WRs were always behind their defenders. The run game was much improved. I said I was hoping for a just one sustained drive and one quick strike. I got one out of two, but even though they missed on the quick strike (two close over-throws by Henne and one drop on a Moore pass), the opportunities were clearly there and the misses felt correctable.

    Bad

Murtha: Too many penalties. I debated putting the OL in the bad, but it seemed to be mostly Murtha who struggled.

Moore: Didn't look nearly as comfortable as last week. He did have a possible long (perfect pass) TD dropped by Moore. That fumble by Moore was just ugly.

Overall, we beat a team that we considered inferior like we should beat an inferior team. Henne has now had two games with a +80 QBR (83.9 and 87.8). The second game added two players (Marshall and Bush) who are expected to be his primary weapons. The second game also had run support. That is the +85 QBR that many of us have been saying that Henne could provide with a better supporting cast and enough support from his OC. Henne's pocket awareness, mobility, aggressiveness and deep accuracy have all clearly improved from last year. If the deep accuracy continues to improve (one of my biggest complaints about Henne), that could easily make him a +90 QBR player. I don't think there would be many here that would complain about that.

I agree that Murtha struggled but no one mentions Columbo had one of those false starts. Henne over threw those long passes but that is just timing which will improve. Henne needs to learn not to lock onto his receivers though, and look off his target or it will lead to Ints. Henne was a good leader last night and that is a good sign for an offense that struggled last year.

Consistency is a problem. My point was he looked like he was capable as did the rest of the O. He needs to look like that more than he has in the past.

As to the long passes, Matt Moore missed two long balls as well. That touch needs to be developed over repetition and time. However, the fact that he actually threw the ball deep and we did have guys in position to catch the ball will do more for the overall offense even tho we didn't complete those balls...It'll give BB and co. something to think about...

As you said, the Panthers DL is pretty strong, the fact that OL was able to handle them was encouraging. The time of possession in the first half and the heat had a lot to do with that as well...

I can't afford to ask the question of the OL giving him chances being Henne's credit or not. I have been a proponent of fixing the OL first, then see what Henne can do. All last week I argued that the OL was so poor, that blaming Henne was useless. My point was pretty much proven, even it is only one preseason game. The holes were there for the RBs, the protection was there for the QB and he was able to hit those guys and move the ball. So your thought of questioning whether Henne or the OL should get the credit is a matter of perspective...neither 100% right nor 100% wrong.

The "Henne sucks" crowd would have us believe that no matter how good the talent was around him, he couldn't do any better. However, he showed us he can....will he continue to build on that, we'll see....

I love this gloating like Chad Henne just made the Pro Bowl or something. It will be a while before anybody can think about pulling out any 'I told you so's so I'd keep these in my pocket personally.

That being said I just watched the first half of the replay and mostly liked what I saw. One of the passes to Reggie Bush was perfect, he hit him perfectly in stride and Reggie didn't have to change his speed or make any adjustment at all. He still seems to overthrow the long ball even though it was only, what two attempts?

Reggie Bush looked so good maybe I should try to get him on my fantasy team. That man just sold a few Dolphins jerseys last night. He clearly has something to prove to the Saints for letting him walk and to everybody else as well.

Well then let them look like fools rather than joining them. The Henne debate is not going to be settled with preseason games so it's amazing people are posting like it can be.
'Where are the Henne lovers/haters now!!' Give me a break... Henne's had great and poor regular and preseason games in his career. What we're all looking for is for him to shed inconsistency. I guess that can happen in two weeks in August.

It's the feel of the offense and about Henne's confidence. You would have to be blind to not notice that his footwork has improved immensely. That is the most important cog in a QB's mechanics. Thanks for stopping in and being a buzzkill.

I thought he looked good personally. He's definitely moving better than last season, no doubt about it. Sorry if you needed to try to call people out to feel good. I'm not trying to put down Henne's performance. It was a good performance and I personally enjoyed watching it just a few minutes ago. People trying to call each other out in the preseason is pointless and certainly premature. That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying Henne's not going to continue to have improved footwork and movement. There's no reason for any buzzes to be killed.

Me personally I'm just tired of the "suck for luck" crowd...I feel like we have a 500 team that with a few breaks might play a few meaningful games in December..not seeing Hennes poor playing leading to a 4 win season jmo.

with another Fasano drop..... and you did happen to see the ground game received every attempt inside the 20 right?

Even with Fasano's drop, 15-25 is 62.5% and 8.5 avg. Terrible numbers. Terrible'. <sarcasm>

I said 2 years ago that I didn't feel that Henne had the poor pocket presence that people made it out to be.
From day 1 I've felt Henne was so accustomed to Jake Long blocking his blind side at Michigan that he didn't really have to use his feet.

Originally I thought the reason he was taking hits and appearing to have little awareness was b/c the guy is just a tough SOB who wanted to stand tall till the last second.

I said that as soon as he starts using his feet and realizes what he can do with them (like a baby learning to walk) that we're going to start seeing a different QB out there as he becomes more and more familiar with his abilities, and then develops those abilities. The extra conditioning he's put in during the offseason has really given him an extra edge, too.

Most QBs don't know what they can do with their feet until they start using them.

Ah, yet when I used that arguement last week, that it was just one game, I get berated that the poster is allowed to have already made up his mind after Henne's 3 years in the league. That the poster has seen enough to know his opinion is valid.

I'm not completely behind Henne, mind you. I feel he should be given the benefit of a new offense, with improved coaching, a more cohesive offensive line and some new pieces to play with. I'm trying to take a wait and see approach. If someone wants to call that indecisive or even homer-like, then that's fine. Just trying to see both sides of the arguement. Although this week we've only heard from one side thus far, with a couple of exceptions.

I didn't say you called ME out but you were definitely calling people out. I don't hate Chad Henne. 'Where are the _____ now?' is pretty much the definition of calling people out. I just called out a few posts, I probably should have just ignored them but I guess I can't keep my mouth shut, or my fingers off the keyboard...

There's no bandwagon. We're just happy that our QB played very well and showed noticeable improvements in his game. If you want to reserve any positive emotion until the season starts, then that's entirely your choice.

Hey I never said one side was innocent here. It would be nice if we could move on a little since football is actually being played again now. I realize we're all human here but we can at least be happy after a good performance right... You see people taking potshots in some of the threads since last night as if there are people sitting at their house fuming that Chad Henne might lead the Dolphins to victory. Come on..

Certainly I called them out last night. Were you here last week after the game when people were starting threads, hating and standing on the edge of the cliff. I swear they only come here when there are negative things to ***** about. A lot of missing faces here since the game last night, I won't mention names because they know who they are. I'm always here regardless and back up my stance good or bad. Let's hope things keep getting better and the team improves so the trolls move along. I don't miss them but will still wonder why they are hiding.

Gobbledygook. One word. And it doesn't make any difference, you won't read anything anyway unless you think you could possibly use some small part of it to call me out over later. You proved that by calling me out as a Henne hater.

Never mind that if you just stayed on football and kept from being a dick to other posters, you could be a real positive force here, given your analytical and communication skills.

Hey, but...you do what you have to.
