First cat ive seen to pick us over the jets....He says and I quote, ''Call me a "Jets hater" all you want. I am used to it. But New York fans, please tell me one area of this team that is improved on paper from a year ago. I see the arrow going down this year for the Jets''..

Anyways, I'am not concerned about the Jets, its all Patriots all the time, they are not happy with ocho's progression, and I've said before, i've looked at his body closely, he's lost his core strength and thickness, probably due to neglect in the weight room because of so much offseason activity..Fans are also questioning Dion Branch's speed..They come out of preseason with no significant injuries, and as of right now, are not happy with Ryan Mallett, i can show you 10 quotes from one thread where fans are questioning his potential, and trashing him, citing very poor pocket presence, serious lack of mobility, and bad decision making..They are nonos happy with their third round pick..Also Brandon Merriweather has been cut.

I'am gonna continue to visit their site to get any kind of info I can get..

Seems like many don't see it coming and really going by how the last Season finished...

IMO, this team will surpirse, barring injuries, and not in a bad way

I believe he's the guy who was pretty high on Chad Henne before last season started. It's good to see somebody at least go out on a limb sometimes. I hardly even read season predictions anymore because these media types are generally too lazy to ever try to actually find and call the handful of teams that will inevitably make the jump from bad or average to good every season.

A question... Ashley Fox stated we have a tougher schedule this season. I have also read this in other articles.

I just wanted to confirm, but... here is my math...

    Our Division Opponents:
    BUF (x2) 4-12
    NYJ (x2) 11-5
    NE (x2) 14-2

    2010 Non-Division Opponents:
    GB 10-6
    PIT 12-4
    CIN 4-12
    BAL 12-4
    TEN 6-10
    CHI 11-5
    OAK 8-8
    CLE 5-11
    DET 6-10
    MIN 6-10

    2010 TOTAL: 138-118 (.539)

    2011 Non-Division Opponents:
    HOU 6-10
    SD 9-7
    DEN 4-12
    NYG 10-6
    KC 10-6
    WAS 6-10
    OAK 8-8
    CLE 5-11
    DAL 6-10
    PHI 10-6

    2011 TOTALS: 132-124 (.516)

If we go by 2010 opponents' final records... by my calculations... our schedule is slightly easier this season.

    What am I missing here?

We shouldn't bother watching, Ashley Fox has already let us know that nothing is going to work out and we will suck. Great comment Ashley Fox! I should apply for a job with ESPN, clearly their standards are low so my lack of experience shouldn't be an issue. I mean hell, I can come out before every season and predict everything to be the same way it was last year. That sounds like some easy money.

If you look at our 2011 non dvisional opponents, only 2 made the playoffs in 2010, in the 10-11 period we faced a tougher schedule

True, but that's a matter of opinion. Just look at our Phins. Almost every 'expert' in the NFL has us declining or, at best, equaling our 2010 7-9 record. However, that doesn't mean that's going to happen. On the flip side is Philadelphia. They are this season's paper champion... just like the Cowboys were last season. The Cowboys wound up 6-10. I'm not saying the Eagles are going to be 6-10 just like the Cowboys were... I'm just saying that opinions are just opinions.

As an aside to that, while we may have a couple of 'rising' teams on our schedule, such as Philly, there are some teams that could very well slide. The Jets spring to mind. So do the Giants, KC, Oakland, and Cleveland. Any of those teams... easily... could take a step back. Heck, if a team 'rises'... they gotta be beating someone, right? Another team has to fall.

So, calling it a 'tougher' schedule as an opinion really doesn't count for anything. Going by the numbers... our schedule is actually easier.

I actually don't mind of schedule to be honest. The opponents don't bother me nearly as much as the layout.

We play our division home games at night once and 1:00 PM starts but neither of the 1:00 PM starts is during the really hot/humid weather. We get kicked in the balls there AND we have to play Buffalo and New England in their parks in December. We gain no weather advantage but they gain a massive weather advantage. In fact, we don't play a 1:00 PM game at home until October 23rd. That is Ross pushing for less 1:00 PM start times at home in September so the fans don't have to sit in the crazy hot weather. I understand that but we should be pushing for any advantage we can get to win games. I like seeing the other team wilt in the sun by the middle of the 3rd quarter.

Having back to back road games with the 2nd game of that back to back being a roadie to San Diego is crap.

    Playing on thanksgiving is crap.

Playing back to back divisional road games in cold weather cities in December with one of them being on a short week is a total ****ing joke.

Playing on September the 18th (at 4:00 PM) at home and then not playing another home game again until October 23rd and having that game being on a short week is even more of a ****ing joke. Whoever laid our schedule out should be punched in the face.

With all that said, I don't mind the opponents like I said. We are due to beat Houston, Cleveland is mediocre, San Diego is beatable especially early in the season, Denver is rubbish, Kansas City was a mirage last year, Washington will be terrible, Dallas is mediocre as is Oakland.

The only non divisional opponents on the schedule I fear are Philly and the Giants. 7-3 in non divisional games is a very realistic goal in my opinion. Split the division, go 10-6 and be a Wild Card. If we win the winnable games, sweep the Bills and get a split with the Jets or Pats we are a playoff team.

One of the other bloggers (James Walker?) just announced today he will be transitioning over to the prime AFC East guy. Hopefully soonish, since ESPN Boston and NY post **** on the Jests and Patsies all the time, but we get jack.

Also, in 10-11, we faced all four teams from the AFC and NFC Championships. I don't see how anyone can call that an 'easier' schedule.

If anything, what may be tougher this year is order of schedule. I do not like opening on Monday night against NE, then following with a team we have never beaten. Also, playing on Thanksgiving is not anything to give thanks for IMO. Finish with a few cold weather games too. Buf and NE back to back on the road in December. With it bracketed by two of our toughest home games, Eagles and Jets.

When she writes about being short on talent. I would not agree with her in regards to the Dolphins defense. I think Miami has plenty of talented players on defense and will end up with a top 10 defense by seasons end. If she is talking about the talent on the offensive side of the ball. I agree with her. Right now the Dolphins have only two players on offense who would be starters on the better teams in the NFL. Jake Long and Brandon Marshall are those players. While Bess and Bush would make these teams. Neither of them would be starters on the better teams in the NFL. So when you look at the fact that only two players on the Dolphins offense are good enough to be starters on these teams. I don't know how you can argue that about the shortage of talent this team has on the offensive side of the ball.

I agree he is one of the top slot receivers in the NFL. That is why I stated he would make one of the leagues top teams. Slot receivers though are not considered starters, but usually come into the game on passing downs only. I think very highly of Bess as a receiver, but my point was that the Dolphins really only have two players in Long and Marshall, who could start for the top teams in the NFL. I am sure Bess and Bush would also get plenty of playing time on these teams, even if they weren't starters.

So that means that we have two players who could start and two players who would be able to make the team and get playing time. It is the other seven starters on the Dolphins offense which makes the talent seem very weak, compared to the better teams in the NFL.
