right now its like Fantasy free agent wire....you see something you like, you have to jettison someone that held the spot.... hot and heavy moves and lots of bodies are quickly moving between teams.
Wonderful. He stood out for me each game but of course they have a master plan , so why should we worry . Really think he will turn out to be a player.
We have great depth at those positions, nfl media types on twitter were "oh, the patriots had 7 guys they waived claimed!" I believe that is #5 for us as Matt Kopa was claimed by the patriots today.
Or keeping other guys at other positions cough... JJ ...cough ... Yeatman ...cough ... Spitler cough ...
No surprise there. I liked what I saw out of Kopa. I thought he was much better than John Jerry, and on a par with Feinga and Garner.
Totally agree , and I don't think it will be remotely close. You think he was a game one signing? Shades of Norman Hand? ouch. RIP btw.
I dunno. I just thought there were many better TE options out there. He is more an assistant OT than a TE. He runs like a OT. He moves like a OT.
This was the one discussed player I didn't want to lose. Better prospect than the other guys people are *****ing about IMHO. But hey, you can't always keep them all when you're good. Sometimes circumstances dictate putting guys like this at risk. FYI Volin confirmed it with Kearse on the phone. - sent from my EVO 3D via Tapatalk -
Interesting. Ben Volin earlier reporter that he was on the phone with Kearse and he said that he was claimed.
So, if we can get Kearse on to the PS it will be some consolation, just as long as Edds makes it there too. Though neither is safe there from being poached at any time.
Only thing I can think of is maybe Volin dialed the wrong number when he called Kearse. He thought it was big Frank telling him he was claimed by Carolina, when it was just some drunk dude in a bar somewhere.
If he passed through waivers unclaimed he could still sign on their PS over ours. So he could be headed to Carolina and not be claimed by them at the same time.
Until he knew if he cleared waivers, he would not be able to decide on options for which PS he'd sign with. Generally players cut after the final cutdown, sign back to their original team's PS if they clear waivers and are wanted, so if he does end up signing elsewhere on a PS it would be unusual.
Eh, IDK Mr C, to me we are dickering over the very bottom of the roster, chances are good neither one does very much in the NFL to begin with, I keep an eye on this sort of thing and it is just rare that these cats do a whole lot, not impossible mind you, but really rare. I'd like to keep them both, but this is not some deal breaker "those idiots" sort of move, a NT from a tiny college and Edds who never played a down?
The Kearse thing is an odd one. You'd think if Carolina didn't claim him, someone else did. Volin is working for Jeff Ireland....... we want him back on our PS so we send out Volin to tweet that he's been claimed by Carolina when he actually hasn't... no other team tries to get him because of that (claim or PS)... and wallah, he's back with Miami...
Nice to put positive feel good spin on everything, what with the season about to kick off, but Edds showed more positives in 4 preseason games than Spitler did in 8 preseason games or at any time last regular season. Kearse will have a better NFL career than Weatman will. You can quote me on that. BTW, the very bottom of the roster is Jerry, Mastrud, Spitler and Culver.
Deal breaker , perhaps not but it is just one more "thing" . Players on the roster instead of them are head scratchers , and not like big dt's haven't panned out from low rounds or even Miami cuts as I mentioned with Norman Hand. Really how many fringe TE's are needed? and if it was a priority then it should have been but wasn't multiple times. The good thing is necks are on the line , and that is how it should be , I do hope they succeed , but if they don't no more mulligans, it is adios time.
I like Dante Rosario very much, and it was about time we signed a decent backup TE and he is easily the best we've had since David Martin in 2008, but I will be very very very surprised if Weatman or Mastrud ever amount to solid NFL TEs. I'd be really happy to see Mastrud develop, because he is from Oregon, but he is probably the next one out the door, though I do not think Weatman is any better.
Not saying that NONE ever pan out, not at all, this is one of the areas I specialize in as a fan, just saying I've seen plenty of players with similar skillsets amount to nothing at all, afaik Kentawn Balmer is out of work, and Chris Baker signed in DC, they receive chances just on the chance that the physical tools happen to match whichever scheme and they turn into something. Case could be made that Ryan Baker is the best of the lot of the whole "practice squad to the roster" deal and it is more his versatility that keeps him here rather then some outstanding physical talent.
The comment was more to Mastrud and Yeatman ,Rosario has some talent , but as you mentioned and I also believe Kearse will have a much better career than either of Yeatman or Mastrud and I doubt either are long for the roster. I would not have gambled losing Kearse for either one of them . I also said I am not big on spy theories , but it makes me wonder with NE up first.
Well, like M Moore, I watched Rosario play in Carolina, if I had to compare him to someone, Justin Peele comes to mind, he was just sort of a dude in Carolina, not bad, not great, they had Jeff King and Bainridge and he just sort of was there.
Ben Volin closed by saying Kearse told him he was getting on a plane to Carolina tomorrow. I think we can assume he cleared waivers. If I had to guess, I'd say Miami is now holding 'his' practice squad spot for Edds (first) and he ain't waiting around. Whether he's going for a workout or to sign is anyone's guess at this point. - sent from my EVO 3D via Tapatalk -
