I think the debate is pretty close to being over. Henne's numbers were window dressing bull****. He LEFT TWO TD's on the field. Marshall beat his man in the red zone..Henne air mails it. Marshall option his route and begs for the ball on another instance..Henne tucks it and runs. The 50 million dollar man is trying to drag Henne across the finish line and he is playing "Stat" ball. That last drive..Henne flat out blew it. There were people open, and his checkdowns were enough to setup a 48 yard try or so to win. Enough already. Guy is likely done. They KILLED his confidence. A perfect example of how a coaching staff can ruin a player. Sparano could not be a bigger detriment. These morons don;t even know how to use Reggie Bush, who in M2M had ILB on him. Bush can run WR routes. Sometimes it is as simple as playing catch with a guy who has a mismatch. They don't see it. That last drive is the definition of choking. The Browns were guarding the boundaries and using a SS and backer to cover our backs. It is really elementary at that point.
Oh..and nobody can tell me ****. I talk to people, that most "insiders" can only hope to talk to. I'll give you this...every suspicion you have of this team? Is CORRECT.
Unfortunately the ban hammer doesn't come down as often as it should. This forum is full of guys just like him who need to be cleaned out of here.
Hmm. You make me really curious now..... I know it's rude to ask you details, but feel free to elaborate what you can, lol. so what's the plan for Sparano anyway? Going down with the ship until the off-season, or fired mid-way through season?
So do we really WANT to fire Sparano and risk Nolan doing well enough for 3/4s of a year to watch us limp across the finish line with an 8-8 or another 7-9 and miss out on Luck, Jones and Barkley?
Sooner or later they insult one too many people. The nice thing about the forum is your animosity is in your post history.
He's gone at the end of the year unless we go 0-5. And 0-5 is looking like a really, really good possibility.
Sparano's continued employment just becomes a logistical barrier at some point; he'll lose the locker room soon and it'll start getting really ugly. It'll become the elephant in the room in every interview that everyone associated with the team does. At some point he will have to go; I think the natural break point is the bye.
Pretty much. Tale of two halves for Chad Henne. In the first half he was 15 of 19 for 191 yards, 1 TD and 0 INTs. A 126.1 QB Rating. In the second half he was 4 of 10 for 64 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT. A 22.5 QB Rating. Good Henne showed up in the first half, bad Henne showed up in the second half. Just like Good Henne showed up against New England (for the most part) and Bad Henne showed up against Houston (for the most part).
True, but apparently New England has one of the worst defenses in the league. I read that from another poster on this forum.... so perhaps Good Henne can only show up vs bad defenses....
Yeah, he's a goner no matter what. Now we just have to see how it happens... I feel bad for Sparano. Things started out so well and he was well liked.......amazing how it all turned to this.
Objectively speaking, it is still ongoing. Fair to say we've seen Henne make improvements in pretty much every phase of the game, from deep passes to throwing between the hashes to running the ball. However that is all Stat Monkey stuff, he has not put the cherry on top with TD's, plenty of RZ snaps, but few Td's, that to me is where Henne stands or falls down. FWIW, in no way do I think Matt Moore would do any better, in fact, I think he would get killed behind that leaky azz Oline.
It's not finished. We're still driving up and down the field and not getting TDs. We needed 15 yards or so to win and we couldn't even pull that off. Henne came to play this season, I'll give him props for that. But he is hardly an answered question at this point.
I have gotten private messages from several individuals on here telling me to find another team, since I have been so negative about Sparano, Ireland, and the talent on this team. Or I should say the lack of talent on this team. I don't let these private messages concern me one bit. Because I know that I have followed the Dolphins for much longer then most of the posters on here have been alive. I have spent well over $140,000 over the last 40 years purchasing season tickets and traveling to away games to watch the Dolphins. I have put in a lot of time and money over the years in support of the Dolphins. All I have ever asked it that they put a team on the field that will put forth the effort over four quarters to win the game. When a coach says that the problems on the field are fixable. I expect him to fix these problems. I don't expect to see the same problems week after week, much less year after year as I have with this regime. I am a Dolphin fan and I will remain one long after Ireland, Sparano, and the players now on this team are somewhere else. I just have no faith in the head coach and the GM and until Ross makes the move to rid the organization of these individuals. I will not spend one more penny attending games. I will also continue to express my frustration with the Dolphin organization on this forum in hopes that members of the Dolphin organization read the forum and understand the level of frustration we long time Dolphins fans are experiencing, as we see our beloved organization become one of the worst organizations in the NFL.
IMO, Henne has done well behind this OL. When he did have time, he was mostly on the money. BTW, on the pick, BM was being held and if not for that, BM could of been there.
Yeah he got hit a lot. Sacked five times I think. I will no longer ever question his effort or desire to be good. But you can't say this offense is scoring enough points.
I want Henne to succeed. I like his demeanor, his tools and his work ethic But he isn't someone you build around. If we had '09's running game and '10's defense, Henne would be good enough. But we don't. And he's not. So I look forward to drafting a new QB to argue about. Hopefully Henne carves out a career in this league and has some success - he's better than a lot of garbage out there. But I'm ready to move on.
Neil Rodgers said it best, back when Jimmy Johnson and Dan Marino had their fued: Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... Jimmy and Danny... Danny and Jimmy... Danny and Jimmy... The skit was mocking talk radio callers that couldn't stop talking about the QB position.. Same thing happened when Fiedler was here.. Pennington was the lone bright spot.. The only non-supbar QB play we have had since the mid to late 90's... Marino was a shell of himself the last 1/4 of his career.. I often wonder where this franchise would have been had Jimmy traded Marino when he arrived in Miami.... Eithey way, everyone here makes valid points.. I've NEVER been a blind homer, in fact I was always one to recognize under-performers or so-called superstars that were only superstars in internet forums and not on the field. With that being said, I have a soft spot for Henne.. I still see all world potential that can be improved.. I see a leader on offense. I see a QB that has been destroyed by poor coaching and a team that is in a constant state of dissary... I don't want to be right. I don't want to be wrong. I just want to see this freaking team live up to it's potential....
I never said that this offense is scoring enough, I'm only defending our QB's play. I agree that our O needs to score more, I agree 100%. Our problems on O are our OL, not our QB.
So let's trade Henne to a team with a strong offensive line. Because we don't want him to be the Dolphins QB of the future. I do agree that our offensive line is terrible, but I just don't see Henne being the QB to take this team to the playoffs over the coming years. I also have no doubt that the new head coach next year will have no desire to have Henne as the QB he has to rely on to keep his job. After Henne's last season at Michigan, his head coach, Lloyd Carr was fired. Now it appears that Sparano will get the ax after the season, if not before the season is over and Henne is the QB. I doubt that the new head coach will want to go with Henne and risk his job. Henne is a free agent after this season and I just don't see the Dolphins paying the money to keep him as the starting QB after this season.
New England has the worst pass defense in the league. In 3 games they have given up 1,163 passing yards. That's on track to be historically bad. The current record is 4,541 yards held by the 1995 Falcons. The Pats are on pace to give up 6,164. That's nearly 1,500 more yards than the worst pass defense in NFL history. They gave up 416 to Henne, 378 to Rivers and 369 to Fitzpatrick today. So sure, Henne has the most passing yards out of that group, but it's still not very impressive to me.
Weird time for this thread Bum.... Having said that, it's clear to me Henne's better. It's hard for me to tell how good he could be. He's playing behind an atrocious OL right now. That's our biggest issue on O.
This thread came at halftime Coral.. I stand behind the premise of it, but still have to admit that Henne could of, and should have performed better in the 2nd half. However, this lose is on the D giving up a TD with under a minute in the game and our offensive line failing to block.
Because there's no way Henne going 4/10 with a pick in the second half had ANYTHING to do with the loss, right?
At some point the QB has to share some of the responsibility for your team not scoring enough points and being bad in the red zone. He's done some good things but this is not something you can just ignore.
The team was up 16-10 with under a minute remaining, after using the running game to eat clock and TOP. 4 of the 6 incompletions came on the last drive, where I clearly stated that Henne could have performed better. Where did I say Henne holds zero responsiblity? Do you have issues reading? I mean you quote my post which states, " I stand behind the premise of it, but still have to admit that Henne could of, and should have performed better in the 2nd half. " and you immediately post that I said Henne had nothing to do with the loss? The D giving up a 6 point lead in the final minute is why we lost. And yes, Henne could have done better on the last drive. Does that make sense to you, or do you need me to break it down further?
The Dolphins have been rebuilding for ten years and what they have built is one of the worst teams in the entire NFL. So I will take the rebuilding job done by the Bills organization over the non rebuilding job of the Dolphins organization, any day of the week. It should also be noted that the Bills hired a new GM and a new head coach in 2010. It was this new GM and head coach who are responsible for the turn around of the Bills. If the Bills can become a better team than the Dolphins in just two years with a new coach and GM. This clearly shows that Sparano and Ireland need to be fired, because they have done a terrible job in their three plus years of rebuilding the Dolphins.
And i will say again,a real qb with the ball on the oppositions side of the field would have drove the team to a at least a winning field goal attempt. That is not to much to ask for any qb.Hell mccoy drove them for a winning td with much less talent than miami has.Henne can look good at times but he does not have the intangibles to be a winner. He is without a doubt the worst qb in the division.
Calm down just a little. Not saying Henne is looking all pro. Just saying it's clear to me that he's not the biggest issues we have. In fact he's looked much improved. Not to mention that a lack of sufficient pass blocking can force QB's into poor performances. This OL is in fact attrocious at pass blocking. To ignore that as a legitimate factor would be folly.
LAWL Read your own post dude Sure you say Henne could have performed better but then turn around to place the loss squarely on the Defense and the O-Line. It can't work both ways. Plus, you weren't supposed to be replying to anything I posted anymore. What happened to that?
