On his TV show Sparano singled out Wilson for his play last week. Little Jimmy was in for 22 snaps, and Tony said he had 21 PLUSES. He also said he has been VG since camp, always around the ball, and looking to make the big play. Tony called him a "one punch fighter" always looking for a knock out, and that is one aspect of his game that we have to tone down a bit. Look for Jimmy to play more today. He has become my favorite Phin, and I am ordering his jersey today.
I knew this was gonna be takin out of context BD. What Sparano is saying is that sometimes ya gotta take a little step back and pick and choose the Knock Outs when ya can make them, and not every play. This comes with experience, and Tony is right.
Its not out of context, and I dont care to try to spin it when it comes to Tony and what he says, and then what we would like him to mean. I want a roster full of Jimmy Wilson's attitude and mindset to MAKE A PLAY; be a PLAYMAKER and not look around for someone else to do it. Yes, fundamentals need to be there, but having the PLAYMAKER attitude should be nurtured; not told to tone it down. If Tony wants to say "he needs to remain a KILLER INSTINCT but play within the framework of EVEN KEEL fine"...then say it...if he cant say it and instead says Tone it Down; then dont spin it for him, he says TONE IT DOWN...when we need all players to AMP it UP.
My apology. Tone It Down were my words, and not Sparano's. I tried to say what I heard but, seems like I should not have. Your view is much more accurate that mine as to what Tony said.
