There are two topics that are complete national stories right now, and both are going into a tailspin of negative publicity for this franchise.. First topic,The media is now running with the idea that Ross has had his people contact Cowhers people..right or wrong, that is the perception right now.. 2nd topic... ''Safety and defensive captain Yeremiah Bell confirmed the sentiment in an appearances with Joe Rose of WQAM. “I think it was kind of messed up, you know, how he has a day in our stadium,” Bell said. “You know, I don’t think any of us thought that was right''......key word here, ''any'' I know its being discussed on this board, but once again, there are positions being taken that this should not be looked at badly on ross, for that I say BS, this is on Ross for not having the foresight to know what kind of mess this might wind up in, and boy does he have one now...Its why I wrote the thread that I did the other day bashing the move..This has turned into a promotional nighmare for this franchise, that has turned its own team against management..It all was predicatble if you think in terms of whats best for the image of the team, to do, or not to do, and in this case, its a lesson in what not to do in your stadium..once again perception is now reality.. This smells like mutiny if there is such a thing in this league..and its probably already happened, but I think if someone doesn't step up and squash or explain your intentions on both topics, your name and the teams name will keep taking tremendous hits here.. I think if our owner is smart, he will stand up and set the record strait, and say somethin man.. am I overreacting here..???
I don't know, I think you make some valid points. Ross has really done a lot of embarrassing things in his very short tenure as Dolphins owner. And nothing good has come to this franchise since he took the reigns. Him stepping up and saying something? Not quite sure what that will accomplish. I'd rather he STFU, and let someone else be the voice of this franchise.
I wouldn't mind a quick "my bad" on the whole Tebow thing, and also saying Sparano is the coach, and I've contacted NOBODY!!!!!! Can't hurt.
The key phrase is I don't think,, If he's not sure then maybe the word any and us shouldnt be used in the coversation. And yes you're over reacting.
Gator thing was a huge mistake, talking to an NFL coach I know he was laughing saying what a joke it was (although the bottom line is he made money, he is a business man first). The coach rumors are going to happen, even if he is not talking to possible coaches. I would rather he stay in New Jersey and fix the eye sore Xanadu that he bought and is losing millions on and leave the football team alone and just write the checks.
Probabley wouldn't be as big a deal if Miami was winning. When teams are at a low point fingers are pointed everywhere. If the players want to win they will find a way but they have to play harder and smarter than they have been lately.
Starting to think Ross will have an ongoing negative effect on this franchise in the long term. Would love to be wrong, cuz it's harder and less frequent to change owners than to change coaches.
ok Stitch, can you explain to me how a player on this team can play with integrity at this point, and in this situation, and how a coach or GM can make a decision based on our future if he's still employed, while knowing what is being said, reported?, and your sure all this bad publicity has no effect on anything? You think its as easy as coming to work every day, keepin your head down, and doing your job?...I don't believe that, I think its bad enough where leadership needs to step in..I think he needs to address his team, and his coach..I think he needs to squash these reportsabout the contacting of cowher..
Simple DJ - The media could report that 4 foot leprechaun was taking over this team, with Carl Peterson as the GM and Cam Cameron as his henchman, and this place would go wild. Just because people are assuming that Gruden / The Chin are talking to Miami doesn't mean that they are - Even if they were, don't ya think this would be a good time to secure the future of this team? I didn't realize these poor football players making millions of dollars were so sensitive to made up innuendo and rumors by the media... If I was in their position it would motivate me to bust my tail because my a$$ may be next. If they can't deal with it then they don't belong on this team.
Ross is not the problem he inherited a load of **** from Parcells he didn't make this mess he made a bad deal when he bought the Fins.
Also DJ, what should Ross do? Kiss Sparano's *** for sucking? Lie, if in fact he is strategically trying to fix this team so that the players could feel good? Sorry dude, outside of Long, VD Pouncy, Marshall, Wake, Solia and a few others, nobody is, nor should be safe on this team. This season is lost. 0-6. 1-11 in your last 12 home games. At this point Ross purchased a lemon from Wayne.
I listened to Bell tell his side live on the air and its nothing like this is trying to make it out to be. The season is already gone down the toilet. Who gives a crap what happens or what people think right now?
You are not over reacting. I posted in another thread how I am going to go to the next home game, party in the parking lot, then a half hour before kickoff, raise my tickets up and burn them. Then go back to partying with the rest of the people around me that I can talk into doing this. It all goes back to Ross, he can play naive as much as he wants but no onwer of any company would not allow his employees to schedule a day like last Sunday unless it had his full blessing. Its time to make that stadium empty for the next home game. We can all go in and place cardboard signs by our seats stating, THIS ONES FOR YOU ROSS, then leave, go into the parking lot and party. Well, guess I have to get the stub taken off, put the sign in my seats, then go back out and burn the remainder of the tickets. Crap, thats even a better idea.
There was probably a lot of the same kind of recrimination while the Titanic was going down. What is happening now is to be expected, and for Ross to give a public speech now would make the same difference as the captain of the Titanic giving a speech and telling his crew and passengers not to panic; that the thing with the iceberg was being dealt with.
Are you overreacting? Yes. Does this kind of stuff need to happen anyway? No. If the man can't act like a professional then he needs to step the hell back and let someone else handle things before he does do something really freaking bad.
I'am not advocating that, buts its directly what I'am talkin about if they gator promotion is why you feel the need to do it, I think some mending with the fans is in order and taking ownership of the fu%$ up..I know the season is toast, I'am also talking about perception that is out there that could lead to Cowher not coming here because of it...I just don't think you can let this run on the path it is without making sure people know the truth on whether or not you contacted Cowher..The perception is completely degrading this coach and team, its undermining their efforts, and no matter how bad they suck, I think a leader of a franchise should step up and set the record strait..Let the media know you would not put this coach and this team in such a light by contacting Cowhers people...Let the team know you intention of why you had gator day, so they don't have this false sense of why it happened, because obviously they are taking it in the way that I'am sure you didn't want them to.
no he shouldn't but thats not what i'am referring to Rush, I'am talkin about having some dignity and protecting the image of your team.
It's a beautiful train wreck so far DJ, no need to do anything. It's like diving deep into the sea, whoever dives deepest will be able to recover the pearl. It's the only thing they're in competition for right now...My precious!
I believe so and heres why. First of all, if I'm a dolphins player, my job is to beat the other guy across from me and that is even more true when something on a college level becomes an opposing team's QB coming out party ........ damn sure ain't gonna happen in my house! All this whinning after the fact is just a poor loser's excuse imo. Oh poor me, my owner made me look bad, yeah right just shut up and do your job! All this says to me is that this puke has no loyalty to his team or HC or owner!
Bell needs to STFU and play better, along with ALL his teammates if he wants to be taken seriously. He shouldn't give a flyin' f*ck about what's going on at halftime. As far as I'm concerned, they can keep sucking it up at this point. I haven't watched the last two weeks, spent more time with my kids, and was actually much less stressed, so go figure. If that means we have a ray of hope next season with a new QB and Coach, count me in. And burning your tickets in the parking lot? Really smart, that'll show 'em, considering how you already paid for the tickets and put money in their wallets.
NY Giants fan just this, burn their tickets in piles out in the parking lot at Giants Stadium in 1978. A lot of you do not remember that or maybe never even heard of it. I lived about 5 miles then from Giants stadium, did not have season tickets but was in the parking lot the day the fans did this. I went to every Giants game and never had a problem buying cheap tickets in the parking lot. Giant fans had it with Wellington Mara and Tim Mara. Its almost a mirror image of what Ross is doing with Miami. A once great franchise being run into the ground by a mindless owner. In the Giants case it was two mindless family members. Then commissioner Pete Rozelle stepped in between the 2 Mara clowns when all the news channels on the planet earth showed irrate Giants fans burning huge piles of their season tickets out in the parking lot, then staying out there instead of going into the game. It only happened a few games but it was enough for the commissioner to step in and give fair warning to the Mara family they had better get their sh&t together or get out of the football business. This is what Ross needs, to be warned get it going and stop the BS or get out of the football business and the only way to do that is get huge national attention on how distraught the fans are. Message board crying, suck for luck stuff, phone in shows, none of that works. The Giants fans did it right, burned thousands upon thousands of season tickets and did it in front of the cameras for all to see. I know things being the way they are these days, Miami fans would probably never do it in mass but if we did ? LOL, you bet your sweetness that Goodell sure in hell would notice and Ross would be given a speech such as Wellington and Tim Mara were given so many years ago. If I knew how to get it going I would be the first to light the fire on his ticket.
Either stop his BS or if it takes selling the team to someone that actually wants to own a team then yeah. Tell you right now, Ross is never going to change, never and to be honest I do not see a good HC even wanting to come down here and work for a man like this. Sure I would love Cowher but it was mentioned more then once he was not happy seeing Ross board a plane last year while his HC was back sitting in his office. I also know IF Cowher did come here there is no way in hell Ireland will still be here. People around the land know Miami fans are pissed, they also know the same fans love their Dolphins. Question is, how much does Ross really love his Dolphins. Burn the tickets baby, it works. I do not blame the players either because they had no idea their Boss, Ross, was even like he turned out to be. So in short, yeah, I would love to see Ross sell the team because as I said, as long as he is the owner its going to be a clown act because no good GM or HC or any good coach for that matter is going to set foot in S Florida unless they are on the visiting team. Watch.
