The "Screw The SFL" thread has been stopped. I completely disagree. This is a "Football Forum" and, as such, there will be disputes as well as debates. For those not familiar, this is what happens on "Football Forums." Perhaps the "Mod Squad" should look to moderate different types of forums. Boy scouts/Girl scouts come to mind, and they may get a bonus of camping out cookies. It is sad that I find myself posting on this, as opposed to enjoying a Phins win. However, it is just in my nature. I guess you know better than me on running a forum but, I do know best where it is worth posting, at least for me.
Some are just pissed because their pride was compromised by wanting to lose. The thread should have stayed.
I have a problem with anyone telling me what I can say when it is within the guidelines of acceptable behavior. In this particular instance, SCREW THE MODS, as they have absolutely no idea of what they are doing. JMHO.
Agreed. MANY posts on SFL but, the one against is stopped. Even funnier is one of this forum's founders posting on it. Sorry, just don't get it.
Gentlemen, I was raised under the premise that if something is wrong, it is wrong, regardless if it is something big or small, and that if you let little things go, you become a little person, I lived by that premise, and have no intention to change it. IF anyone believes I am wrong, tell me why. Otherwise, there is no reason for comment or discussion. Any forum survives because of it's posters. Mods serve a purpose to make certain that things do not get out of hand, not to inflict their views on what is said. I come here for some fun and to talk about our team. If someone chooses to stop that, and/or limit what I can say (with no reason), I have better things to do.
Yet this post falls outside the guidelines of acceptable behavior. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the site rules. Still know better?
You cannot create a thread thats an indictment of - or referendum on - other posters. That has not ever been acceptable, nor will it ever be acceptable. Had someone created a thread titled "Screw those wanting to win", it would have been dealt with in the same way, because its disrespectful and constitutes an attack on other posters. And to be clear, there are staff here that are on both sides of every single debate. Nobody is imposing their viewpoint.
I know I've recently disagreed with the mods for closing a different thread, but they are being consistent. And when you insult almost half the fans on the board instead of just enjoying a win, I don't think you can really be all that worked up on your thread being closed.
I would have to think that you would know the site rules, and much better than me. Yet, you posted on the thread, and very well might I add. It was a VG thread, and worthy of discussion.
Screw The SFL Bandwagon was an opinion on a thing or idea, NOT an insult to anyone on this board. Luck, who is the one for the bandwagon, called it stupid. I don't think he was talking about you or insulting any poster. JT, and a number of other Dolphin players, called it sick and assorted other things, nothing complimentary. I do not think they were talking about you or insulting any other poster. This was one of the ugliest games I've seen. I still loved cheering for my team to win, and them doing so was great, as opposed to the woulda, coulda hoping for a loss. We are what we are. We will win or lose with our teams best effort, no matter the SFL. I can live with that, and enjoy it. I'm on the Miami Dolphins bandwagon, and that's all I care about. This is the OP. Show me where anyone had any reason to take offense. All of the posts were very civil as well, and it had the makings of a great discussion. Then, like the refs in the game, the Mods SCREWED UP and ruined it for no reason. And that's a fact.
Muck, Let me first say that you have my utmost respect as a founder of this Phantastic forum. You have done a GREAT job. That being said, I did "finally" read the site rules. IMO, I have observed all, and shown respect to posters. In reading the rules, I would have to question the enforcement of "May not use this forum to solicit or advertise" and the size of Sigs, 300 pix high by 500 pix wide, which is 4" by 6.5 roughly. I am being a PITA (Pain In The ***) and somewhat enjoying doing so.
No one does use the forum to solicit. If they do they are IP banned. The sigs we do have some leeway on but if it is way over its removed or asked to be reduced in size. We worry a little less about the sigs as long as they arent rude or streaming because frankly all it affects is the sites loading time when you or I click a link. The only reason thats in place is because the average person gives a page about 7 seconds to load and the larger the sig the more loading time. I wasnt the one who moved your thread, I didnt even read it to be honest but objectively speaking if I saw that in passing and I was a part of that "movement" it does come across kind of obnoxious. Whether its intended to or not, it basically calls out every supporter who wanted Luck. Thats just my opinion not speaking as a mod but as an objective observer.
It's a pissing contest that should have been allowed to stand IMO. It looked to me like Muck commented on my post then closed it..... Hell I may be wrong and that is the right of the staff. That thread should have been left open after all we have gone through. It discussed a movement and didn't really call anyone out personally. Much worse things go on here. There are personal attacks going on all over the place. Maybe this is a proper area to dispute those type of issues. Leaving this one open is a good way to handle it. Outlets aren't a bad thing. I share the same convictions as SB...... I think.
You acknowledge its a pissing match so why would it be allowed to stand? If you feel there are worse things going on, its your responsibility to report those. Theres like 10 active staff members and over 1000 posts a day. We cant be on every single one of those when we all work; its just not possible. So if you feel there is something unjust KP, then report it and if we agree we try and put out the fire.
It is the high quality standards set by, imposed by, and enforced well by the Mods. That is why I choose this site over any other. Our mods, and our posters, are what make this forum great. Posters who personally attack other posters for their feelings should either grow up or find another fan site. JMVHO
I acknowledge the SFL versus the non SFL as the pissing contest not the thread that was closed. It should be allowed to be talked about and brought up to the ones who turned their back on this team at a crucial time. There was plenty of bashing and threads from the SFL movement that had to be tolerated by those who opposed the movement. It was repeated over and over that we didn't care about the future of the team because we wanted to win. Should the thread have been worded a little differently yes but it had good meaning. Mods and staff are supposed to not show favoritism and I think it was closed because that person disagreed with the posts. That doesn't seem quite fair. About the personal attacks just read any response to my opinions of Marshall. The counter response is always about me.
Boik, The mention of adds, etc was nonsense but, was asked to read the rules. I could care less. I do respect your opinion. However, there was no calling out in any way, shape or form to anyone. The SFL bandwagon is an idea, a concept, or "a movement" as you say. Taking an opposing view of that idea, concept, movement, is in no way being "kind of obnoxious" to any poster, only the idea.
Killer, This thread was NOT part of a pissing contest, and took no shots at ANY poster. It's hard to believe that anyone would take offense to the word "Screw" but. I guess there are some who do not read newspapers, watch TV, or cartoons. To those offended by that word, I do "somewhat" apologize. In my OP, I offended no one, and chose the "Miami Dolphins Bandwagon" in place of the SFL Bandwagon. IF anyone was offended by that, I might consider using the "screw" word again but, that would appear to be disrespectful, and I will not.
Completely agree. Now, show me where that was done in the OP or, any post in the thread? Does anyone bother to read things before forming an opinion? Fascinating.
When you said "SCREW THE MODS", you basically gave us the middle finger. I gave you the opportunity to acknowledge it and you instead walked away from it. The bigger mystery is why I haven't already kicked you out after basically telling me and my staff to **** off. I haven't even given you a warning or a or points. Matter fact, that changes now. You've repeatedly disrespected myself and my staff in this thread, rather than just making your point. So you will be afforded the opportunity to explore other posting opportunities. Regards.
