Yeah saw that.. they picked up Okur and used up the rest of their cap. They are also signing Deshawn Stevenson to the mini MLE.
Don't flatter yourself too much man. Heat fans can handle people hating on Lebron but if you expect them to just let you talk crap, you have it seriously twisted.
Alright no more arguing with Heat fans... God loves us all. I'm just happy to have basketball back to argue about to Begin with. Although I'm starting to agree with the naysayers that a shorter season, or a pushed back season does make a lot of sense since the NFL is king of the world. Pop quiz, who won the East the last time we had a shortened season.
Wish I knew the answer to that haha... I personally hope he stays in Orlando. He should take his talents to South Beach though....
Personally I want him to go to Minny! Pereferbly as a FA I know there is likely a 1% of that happening but : / a man can dream.
Um the first 3-4. After that its become fail with some news when Paul got traded, untraded, retraded, Howard rumors etc.
Go New Yawk, Go New Yawk, Go! Probably Brooklyn with Hedo's ridiculous contract for Lopez, fillers and 2 firsts unless the Lakers swoop in and offer Bynum and a ton of additional assets that have yet to really be acquired. I dont believe for a second they would offer both Bynum and Gasol because to be honest 2 good bigs > 1 very good big
I didnt say it was gong to happen tomorrow. I know hes out up to 6 weeks. Plus theres no way Orlando will want Dwight coming back for the All Star Game in Orlando, representing the Nets. So not til at least then. Cp3 bailed on the plan set at Melo's wedding with Amar'e. Got to wonder if Nash comes next year for the MLE if Coach Pringles is still around. Even if Baron Davis has the type of year hes capable of, Nash will be another year older and may not necessarily be looking for a starting gig.
Sadly though, this was the most interesting part of the NBA season until maybe May, so many gms that aside from injuries or in season trades it is hard to get fired up over any particular one for months, to me anyway.
Decent performance by Knicks, both teams obviously rusty but Anthony was santa clause for Knicks fans today. If u wouldve told me NY wouldve let Boston shoot 51%, outscore NY by 18 in the paint, and the old bastads even had twice as many fastbreak points! And the Knicks would only score 106, it woulda sounded impossible for them to get a win. BUT they pulled it out late but the need for a quality PG that isnt 0ver 30 is still there, and honestly Im not sure where he will come from either. This and the fact they left Garnett open too much is troublesome but fact is a win is a win.
When one becomes a Knicks fan, is there some sort of contract the organization requires signed that causes the fan to only think and speak of delusional roster construction? Nash isn't a. going to the Knicks b. for the MLE c. just to play for Antoni. In more relevant developments, the Heat are destroying the Mavericks and Norris Cole looks like a star in the making.
I dont think Nash is anything more than a quick fix and a reason to keep D'antoni....ONE DAY we will somehow acquire a solid all around PG. Just hope Melo and Amare arent on the back end by then.
Marbury was NEVER a good fit, he was Alen Iverson without the heart. Francis started off a very good PG in his career i thought but somewhere along the line he thought he needed to be a scorer first. Gimme Charlie Ward back anyday of the week.
Well they dominated the first and second quarters and played as well as we can ask of a team that really hasnt played together much. The second half they looked like crap with depleted depth after the Shumpert and Jeffries injuries (Shumpert - Strained MCL 2-4 weeks and Jeffries calf is day to day). As for PG, Toney Douglas didnt do poop on D to stop Rondo. I know Davis has given Rondo struggles in the past but that will depend on Davis' game shape. When hes motivated and not taking stupid shots hes tremendous. But this is also the best team hes ever been on in terms of talent. B Diddy does give teh Knicks the dimension that we didnt see today...someone who can create shots for others, penetrate and dish, and make good decisions with the ball. Shumpert impressed me with his ability to get over the pick and roll and stay in front of Rondo and his hustle and tenacity. He needs to refine his offense, especially his jumper but boy can he get to the hoop and explode. He has a very bright future. He should be the Knicks starting 2 by the late season next to Davis. We need their athleticism starting and then Fields and Douglas off the bench since Fields doesnt always mesh well with Anthony. Is there a contract with the Heat and their fans about delusions of grandeur? I simply speculated it because Nash will be: A: 38 B: Already has a boatload of money C: Probably values a ring more then a few million more that a second or third tier team like Phoenix can give him D: Already has a town house in Manhattan because he and his wife love it there. They have been seen every summer around Central Park for the last few years. E. Still likes Coach Pringles even though I cant stand him. I was simply speculating based on the those facts. No need to be sarcastic about it. I dont really think I did anything to deserve that. Luckily PG's arent a pre-requisite for winning championships like bigs and wing players. PG's can be found. See for reference: Parker, Tony Rondo, Rajon Fisher, Derek Wing players and bigs first and foremost! I think a motivated Davis could be good enough to get it done. Toney Douglas isnt. Hes a SG trapped in a PG body.
Just an FYI for everyone: The NBA is making NBA League Pass free from now until January 8th. You should get all the games on TV. I love how I can watch the Wiz and Heat now. Knicks fans might wanna watch the Heat for some good bball these next 2 weeks
My point is that not only are you a year too early, but you're making several leaps in logic. For instance, valuing a ring, thus going to the Knicks. If he values a ring and wants to play for nothing, he'll go to another team with a better chance, probably staying in the western conference in the process. You did start this thread talking about how CP3 going to New York was inevitable.
Knick fans get to watch good basketball nowadays every game that we play in. Heat fans may want to stop wishing they were the inevitable champions after the sting of last season. I wasnt saying anything was definitive therefore your point about leaps in logic is kind of presumptuous. I never said NYK was the only option at that point. I think the Lakers and Mavs could be in play as well since LAL is not far from his in season home in Phoenix and he has roots in Dallas + Kidd's age possibly opening up the role for him. I think NYK would be in play for all the reasons I listed. I started this thread based on CP3 sticking to the plan HE helped draw up at Melo's wedding and with the urging from CAA, the managing company representing him and then him publicly coming out and saying it. That CP3 went back on his plan....I cannot account for. That said..Tyson Chandler's 6 blocks today, the addition of Baron Davis, and the late season add of Kenyon Martin looking very possible....Not sure that doesnt serve the Knicks about as well as CP3 would have considering how much depth and interior toughness they lacked.
That's what I'm talking about, though. You weren't wrong, everything else just changed at the last minute! You were wrong. Whatever reports were made about CP3's purported intentions were exaggerated, embellished, the result of misinterpretation, or some combination of the three. Underpinning all this is a belief that NY is a destination that athletes want to go to. Maybe in baseball, sure; but in basketball? No one has wanted to play for the Knicks for a long time. CP3 accepted a trade to the Clippers over playing for the Knicks. All I'm saying is, cool it with the "of COURSE Player X wants to play for the Knicks" train of thought that fuels these posts. Player X wants nothing to do with the Knicks unless they cough up more money than anyone else, and even then that's not a guarantee.
Thats where your hatred for the Knicks blinds you. Its not that I was wrong. It is a FACT that Amar'e, Melo and CP3 planned to come to the Knicks at Lebron's urging after they knew about the Superfriends trio being formed back during the Olympics in 2008 when Wade, Bron and Bosh talked about the idea. That is one of the reasons CP3 moved to CAA, an agency run by Lebron's friends was because he felt they would get him to NY. It only changed for CP3 once he realized that he couldnt get max money because the Knicks didnt have the assets to acquire him. All I am saying is what really happened.
Watched the Clippers play late last night, at least the 2nd half...just wow...they take shots that matter. 18 ft jump shot to shut down a GSW rally..no problem, and Billups/Paul and Mo Williams all throw it up.
