Do you really want bank on reggie bush staying healthy 2 years in a row? This is what I would like sign flynn, draft draft trent richardson who I think is going to special, give murta a shot right tackle, sign meachem, hopefully find a field stretching te in the draft. And if only we could find a free safety.
Fair enough. But if you made me choose one or the other I'd choose Hillis simply because I think he is less of a cancer.
We just drafted a RB, albeit an injury prone one. Flynn is a pipe dream IMHO, Richardson would be nice, but we should have taken Ingram last year instead of Thomas. I am a Husker homer and the only thing I'd give Murtha is a pink slip.
Why do think flynn is a pipe dream?I agree I didn't like moving up to grab thomas either he is nothing special but I think richarson is going to be a freaking stud.He looks like the total package to me a true star which this team is lacking.I think murtha can be(not saying much)but alot better than the cowboy reject.
Well, Flynn is far from a sure thing, and with Moore and Henne still here, is the FO really going to sink THAT much money into QBs? I had the misfortune of watching Murtha in his college days, and just wasn't impressed. and if he were better the Colombo, wouldn't Murtha have already beaten Colombo out?
Seriously? Can Reggie Bush match his career best performance? Do you see the flaw in there, as in this is the same mistake the Dolphins have made over and over and over again.
Legarrette Blount was even slower, and guess what? You want a big back to give matchup problems in the secondary once they break through the first level of the defense.
No love for Mike Tolbert? He's a cheaper and more efficient version of Hillis without the drama-queen bull****, imo. Same with Michael Bush. At WR I'd roll the dice on Brandon Lloyd or Meachem. Both shouldn't be that expensive.
Perhaps you haven't got the memo yet, but Henne is no longer here. He is a free agent and technically no longer a member of the Miami Dolphins. I seriously doubt that the Dolphins are going to make any effort to sign him to another contract. Right now the Dolphins have only Moore and Pat Devlin signed to contracts for next season, as far as the QB position is concerned. With Moore and Devlin as the only two signed QB's left on the team for next season, the Dolphins have less money tied up in the QB position than any other team in the NFL. So they have plenty of money to spend on this position if the right QB becomes available.
I would love for the Dolphins to draft Trent Richardson with their first round pick. He is a dynamite runner and this would give the Dolphins the opportunity to use Bush in a role similar to how he was used with the Saints. Thomas looks like a bust and Bush has only one year left on his contract and he isn't getting any younger. So drafting Richardson would give the Dolphins a top tier running back next year and in the future. Of course with Ireland as the GM, I expect the Dolphins to pass on Richardson and select another offensive lineman after they trade down in the first round.
Raiders aren't going to let M Bush go, and Tolbert would be good, but doesn't offer the long run ability of Hillis. Lloyd a bit to old for my taste.
You wouldn't sign Tolbert to break long runs (not that he didn't knock out a lot of 20-yarders this year), especially not when we have Bush. Tolbert looks like the best compliment out there to me. Esp for the price.
If they place the franchise tag on flynn finley will become an unrestricted free agent and if they fail to trade him it would cost them 14 mil for a guy that sits on the bench.
Flynn will be franchised, Green Bay will not let him go for free. As far as the rest, QB is still priority #1, Oline #2, WR #3 (one with speed), TE, Safety and RB would be about the same to me. I'd like to try Jimmy Wilson at FS. With his nose for the ball He might be the solution there. RB is not a huge priority to me if we can keep the 3 we have, It might be nice to pick up a better blocking one but if the O-line is improved it should be less of a priority.
I like him but I don't want to spend the 8/9 pick on an RB. Which is what we'd have to do to get him.
This is one of the reasons why I'd like Hillis, if we added him, we could use that pick anywhere, as some of our offensive problems would be solved for $$$ and not for the scarce resource of a high draft pick.
I have no idea why you don't consider RB a major need for the Dolphins. While Bush played very well over the last part of the season, his history of nagging injuries has to be a concern for the next head coach. Thomas had two decent games the entire season and the rest of the season he was either injured or his play was subpar. The third running back on the team is Hilliard and he is an adequate special teams player and a below average running back. Trent Richardson on the other hand would be a major upgrade to the overall running back position. Richardson is one of the top offensive play makers in the entire draft and why there is so little interest in him by Dolphin fans is hard to understand. I agree that QB is the teams number one need, but unless the Dolphins trade up to select Luck or RG3, there are no other QB's in the 2012 draft who rate a first round selection, much less the number eight overall pick in the draft. I don't expect Justin Blackmon to be available when the Dolphins select in the first round and that would leave Trent Richardson as the top offensive play maker left on the board. If he is still on the board and Luck, RG3, and Blackmon have already been drafted, the Dolphins should draft him without thinking twice.
