Isn't he just the same as drafting a QB? He is 23 years old. He put up some nice numbers at Delaware. Why are we just dismissing him all together? He is big at 6'4" 222 lbs. What is his story?
He had a pretty awful preseason. But meh, I dunno. Gotta see if the new coaches keep the guy. FWIW I wasn't really impressed.
He's very limited. And he can't handle pressure. I would be surprised if he ever made it into a regular season game for any team, much less develop into something.
Last year before the draft, CK brought him up in the Club. Either UD posted videos of him or I found them elsewhere.
oh, because you almost have to dismiss the preseason this season, with the lockout and all that crap.
I saw him many times at PennState. He never overly impressed me. I know he left due to the fact that he felt he wasn't getting enough playing time, and PSU is not known for turning out great qb's. I know he did well at delaware. But he didnt tear up the smaller schools the way Newton did. I would like to see him succeed like I would any player from Penn State, but I have my doubts at this level.
I got to see Devlin play twice while at Delaware against William & Mary. W&M has one of the best FCS defenses and has recently beaten/been competitive with ACC schools. Devlin looked pretty bad in the two times I saw him. Had limited arm strength and showed poor decision making. He seemed to do fine against the rest of the CAA, but didn't do anything outstanding. I like him, overall, and wish we gave him some playing time once the reason was done for already.
He had a poor game in the FCS playoffs last year as well... The kid is extremely raw and there hasn't been anything to indicate he can handle an NFL job, even in the preseason he only got a handful of plays...
From what I heard, he took the majority of practice snaps the week Moore was down with the concussion.
As a QB, being overlooked for JP Losman is the equivalent of a Elementary School teacher being overlooked for Jerry Sandusky.
I was curious about him as well. Maybe it's because I am a Penn State fan but I had high hopes for him there and I have high hopes for him now. He'll probably have a good chance to make the team next year. Who knows. If we stick with Matt Moore and don't address the QB need he'll probably get a shot. Of course that means another wasted year of losing.
