It is the law of thermodynamics. Energy cannot be created or destroyed and displacing Trent Green from the future would cause energy to be in a time it wasn't. Causing the end of all things. Which would also mean no Twilight movies, so everything wouldn't be so bad.

Yeah, and he made a very fast recovery from the surgery. Just guessing without looking it up, I'd say beginning in 1996 to the end of their careers, Fryar played twice as many games as Barnett. Barnett was just another JJ mistake when addressing offense.

Edit: I was mistaken. Fryar played in 5x as many games from 1996 on, compared to Barnett.

That was almost the last year I watched football.

I have never taken a loss in my life as bad as I took the 2002 loss to the Patriots.

    To relive the torture.

The quote didn't even mention the Mare kick out of bounds to start overtime

    The scary thing?

Dave Wannstedt is arguably the second most successful coach in Miami Dolphins history. He has coached the second most games, has the highest winning percentage of any of them (yes, higher than Shula's, and excluding Todd Bowles' three game venture to end this season) and has coached the third most playoff games of any coach.

I think I want to vomit.

This also goes to show you how rare Don Shula was.

    Lobster trap...the ****ing lobster trap.

I remember when they beat the Raiders at home (the last time we won what I consider a BIG GAME). We abused the Raiders that day (even though the score does not reflect it, Barry Sims is still holding Jason Taylor). That was the best team we had since 1984 and we have not had a better team since. If Trent Green is quarterbacking that team we win 13 games and a Super Bowl. If a potted ****ing plant is coaching that team we win 11 games and home field.

****ing Wannstedt. It still shocks me when people defend that buffoon. He wrecked the Bears, he wrecked us, he wrecked Pitt and with some luck, he gets a chance to further wreck the Bills.

I was really warming up to the potential of Zimmer personally.

I'll be reservedly hopeful if we get Fisher but I'll wonder if we've overlooked an emerging home run guy in the process.

Sadly, the knee jinx was on while JJ was here. At least it felt like a jinx.

Barnett blew his knee out right after geting off the plane here basically. He went on to get his second corpse knee ligament replacement and then we cant forget the Yatil Green deal where he blew it out before preseason.

I remember at the time thinking how Marino was still going crazy despite having basically backups at WR (except for OJ) and finally towards the end an old Tony Martin.

I was cautiously intrigued & optimistic about Bowles. It'd be a kick in the giblets if he assumes a HC gig and turns someone else around.

Runs a sensible defense. Similar in fact to Zimmer in some regards as far as formations. His WLB (Burnett) is the playmaker. Randall Godfrey was his MLB for a number of years. If you really look at it's a tilted 3-4 again with a "freak" no pun intended as the RE, a big LE (Kevin Carter), a Ted in the MLB, a WLB playing WILB, and Peter Sirmon (Karlos Dansby). He likes a run stopping safety, (Bell and Jones should be fine) with a deep cover FS with some ball skills (Clemons doesn't have but he could suffice) in a high cover.

Overall Miami has quite a bit of the personnel it would need. A Jason Jones in FA and it would be more or less ready to go with Fisher at the helm.

On offense he'll fall in love with Incognito, Long, Pouncey and well pretty much all of them. Overall he has some nice personnel here for what he wants to do. As far as who he'll pick? I don't have the foggiest idea. Ireland drafts his kind of guys though in the first round. The great thing about Fisher is that he's been able to put solid OL's together without first rounders and get the best production out of them. Fasano fits well, Clay fits the mold, as does Marshall, Hartline, and Bess.

A Jeff Fisher team isn't that far off a Sparano team. It's just a little better run, makes more sense as far as play calling, and instead of low penalties and medium aggressiveness, he gives up high penalties with supreme aggressiveness. The Titans are a very high penalty team.

I still think Wanstedt was a pretty good game day coach. He was able to put a team together and win games.

He was however one of the worst general managers in the history of the game. From trading a first round pick for Mr. Can't throw Left Rick Mirer to taking Jamar Fletcher over Reggie Wayne, Todd Heap, Kyle Vaden Bosch, Alge Crumpler, Chad Johnson, Kendral Bell and even Fred Smoot (sorry I still thin Drew Brees would have been a bust as a draft pick in Miami) and Eddie Moore instead of Anquan Boldin, Osi Umenyiora, or Jason Witten. The saddest part being that neither Fletcher or Moore were in a position of need as they were both behind decently youngish players who were playing really well.

If I remember right Fisher does something like a wide sweep and then up. Kinda like a "Yeus!" and then a slight angle fist pump. He's sort of the better version of Sparano, except much meaner and dirtier.

I would expect Gregg Williams to be the DC. He's an excellent one and we have capable blitz personnel. Expect the defense to take positive strides.

Williams is one of the best and he adapts well to whatever personnel he has, unlike Nolan. Jared Odrick will play three technique, Soliai one-technique etc etc...

No more trying to fit the wrong players in the wrong systems. Oh and he blitzes quite a bit and they're creative blitzes.

I was crying so friggin hard. My dad got sick of it after two hours of it I was tearing apart the room. That was the worst game I probably ever watched. I wanted to kick every ref's *** especially after that Givens call. I hated the Patriots so ****ing much since that day. The Vikings game was another one too.

One thing I like about Williams is he allows Vilma to change the defensive call at any time, based on how he sees the offense line up. Either Jenkins or Harper also is allowed the same flexibility in adjusting the coverages based on how they see the offense line up.

You'd need to have an intelligent, tough heady MLB then with at least one safety that's a little bit more intelligent as well. A new FS like Griffin would not be surprising. If it becomes a defensive draft, it wouldn't be for the worst. The issues on offense were primarily OL based.

It could be a great hire for continuity. Fisher would be what we wish Sparano was. I'm curious though, do you benefit more by having overaggressive players with high penalty yardage or the other way around with Sparano.

  35. MrClean

    MrClean Inglourious Basterd Club Member

You can be aggressive without being stupid. I notice the Titans improved a lot on penalty ranking this season under Munchak. Under Fisher, most of the penalty problems were on defense, where his last 3 seasons their best ranking for defensive penalties was 3rd from the bottom. The were also near the bottom on offense in 2010, though the two seasons prior more like middle of the pack.

Not sure if someone wrote this already and if so, I apologize. @MiamiSportsBuzz seems to be written by Armando Salguero. Who is already writing in the forums on his own website that Mike Zimmer is expected to interview the Dolphins today. So he is trolling just to get people to go to his twitter page and website. I won't be trusting this source.

The people at stltoday do make an interesting point. They say Fisher was making $6.5 mil at Tennessee. If they're right about that, why would he come to Miami for $ 6 mil? Does that make you doubt the miamisportsbuzz report?

I still think that what is going on right now is that Fisher hasn't really decided. His agent is setting up a bidding war. Fisher may have decided on St. Louis, and the agent may be using us to get the Rams to come up on the money.

I'll believe it when I hear the announcement.

    Thanks for the info, Section.

That being said, I can't believe that after last year's fiasco, there are people treating this as if it's actual news and Jeff Fisher is already the Dolphins head coach.

I'm not falling for the trap again this year. Only this year I won't be devastated when we get burnt and Fisher takes the Rams job after they up the price. Fisher is nowhere near the coach Harbaugh is.
