I watched the Broncos - Patsies game last night and could help but wonder how many more records Marino and Shula could have set if they ran the score up on everyone they played like Belicheat and Brady do. The Patsies were winning by a 32 point margin late in the 4th quarter and still kept all of their starters in and had to kick a FG to get 3 more points. That was not only poor coaching because key people could have gotten hurt it was just another classless display to add insult to injury. I can't wait to see these bums lose. Shula never would have done anything that foolish and classless ever. Maybe Belicheat is suffering from micro ***** and needs to over compensate.

I think it's pretty classless too, but the reality is that it is up to the other team to stop them.

Meh. If you don't like it you better stop it and its been their MO for as long as they've played. Not my cup of tea but if soemone had got hurt I wouldn;t have felt bad.

Shula and Marino probably could have tripled their records if they did stuff like that. They had too much class.

The game has changed alot since then, the QB's today are putting up video game numbers due to the rule changes that protects the QB more. Marino had a hell of a run at the record and he is by far my favorite Dolphin player ever.

The Pats are famous for running up the score and it is a risk. You would think they would learn from the past when they were up ahead big time and Welker went down with a season ending injury. I can't stand that Brady and Belichick are soo close to the record, but it is what it is.

I can see why he did it though. The only way you guarantee that there is no chance for Tebow Time is to keep piling points on him. Sure wish we could have when we played them.

Last night's game was over at halftime. There was no way Tim Tebow was going to be able to overcome a 28 point deficit. If memory serves me correctly, the highest deficit the Broncos have been able to overcome was 15, regardless Cobra is correct. Belichek and the Patriots in general are a selfish disrespectful organization that shows no respect to their opponents, either as professional players or a professional organization all together.

Rest easy though in this thought...the last time the Patriots were a powerhouse vying for the Super Bowl was the '07 season and when the Patriots went undefeated during the regular season...and seemed to easily steam roll thorugh the playoffs to the Super Bowl, they met the defense of the New York Giants and not only did they shut down Brady and company, they slapped them in the face by taking away the Vince Lombardi Trophy, which everyone had seemingly already adorned as belonging to the Patriots before the playoffs began.

The same is going to happen this year guys. The disrespectful classless Patriots are either going to get the taste slapped out of their mouths next week when they face the Ravens (my prediction) or in the Super Bowl itself when they face either the 49ers or the Giants (my prediction).

Bottomline, all that running the score up will result in failure once again to attain a Super Bowl Championship.

Belichek must have been bullied when he was a kid and now this is how he gets back at people. He is an angry man who takes it out by designing to crush other teams and he is good at it. The whole team buys into that and they feel they have something to prove. They are so arrogant why not keep all the starters on the field and keep scoring. (of course they did slow down a bit in the second half - I was expecting a bit higher of score truthfully.)

Let's face the music though guys. If it were our Dolphins doing this, we'd be rationalizing this as a team making the most of their 60 minutes a week. Coach and team get paid to perform on both sides of the ball.

I would be embarrassed for my team being embarrassed; never the other way around.

As you can probably guess: Yes! I do wish Shula would have done what Belichick is doing now. "Oh yeah, you wanna call me classless? Well, you're incompetent; Unlike you, I'd rather be regarded as 'classless' and successful, rather than meager and incompetent."

How many games did we lose this season because we couldn't put together 60 minutes of solid ball? I'm no Patriots fan. I've come to realize that I hate that they can run it up much more than I hate that they do to run it up.

Yep, only scoring 10 points in the second half is running up the score. 1st and goal, and they run 3 straight times before the FG, yep, that's running up the score.

Brady could have broken the TD record if he would have thrown instead of handing off 3 straight times.

You can be successful AND classy. Don Shula is the winningest coach in NFL history, racking up more wins than any other coach...and he ALWAYS did it with class. Shula NEVER ran up the score. He demonstrated class and respect. He knew if the Dolphins were playing an inferior team, he didn't need to run the score up to prove the Dolphins were the better team. You never saw Griese or Marino throwing the ball deep for the endzone midway through the 4th quarter when they were beating the brakes off of their opponent. That's treating players with professionalism and respect...and when you treat other teams with professionalism and respect, you yourself are respected.

Ever see anyone TRY to take Marino out of a game? Ever see anyone TRY to INTENTIONALLY injure Marino or Griese for that matter? No and the reason is Shula and the Dolphins treated their opponents with respect by not rubbing the faces of their opponents in the turf at how inferior they were compared to the Dolphins.

Belichek and the Patriots don't show that respect...and because they don't, the're going to get slapped down either next week against the Ravens or in the Super Bowl against the Giants or 49ers.

It's as if offensively that team has one speed: Go. To ask them to change this style of play just to run the ball (something they haven't really done well since the Dillon years) and chew clock would be asking for too much IMO. Their running-backs are crap, so if they resort to running end-arounds to Hernandez or Welker, it's probably seen by some as getting "creative" unnecessarily being up by a large margin late in the game; thus attempting to run up the score.

That said, if as a defender you get a shot at Tom Brady late in the game in a losing effort... hit him as hard as humanly possible! Maybe that will call for Belichick to change this style.

  19. Running up the score does not bother me as much as hiring McDaniels the week before the game. That IMO is poor sportsmanship. They need to install some kind of rule to prevent it from happening in the future.

I never wish injury on a player, but I was hoping someone rolled up on Brady's knee last night to teach that classless team a lesson.

I'm tired of this team shutting down in the second half when we have a lead

Yea, maybe so, but SHULA has been to 6 Super Bowls, the first coach to go to the Super Bowl with two different teams, the first coach to go to three consecutive Super Bowls, the first coach to go to 4 consecutive AFC Championship games, the first to go undefeated an did it all without losing his sportsmanship, showing the other team and players the respect they deserve as professional football players.

    TDK,
I guess NE scoring a whopping 10 points in the second half is running up the score.

One of my best friends out here is a Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics fan. We get along because out of our hate for the Jets. Being in the middle of Pope Tebow country, I'm so sick of hearing about "Timmy". I was actually pulling for the Pats last night. I don't think the AFC is very strong this year and I said in another thread that whoever wins between GB/NYG will be the SB winner. I still think that.

look, i'm no patriots fan, but who flippin cares...it's the nfl, strap on your big boy pants and score points and stop the other team from scoring, hell i wanted them to score 63, then the 62-7 wouldn;t have been the most embarassing thing i've seen on tv...people hate winners...remember all the hate The U got back in the day for thumping teams? stop the scoring or get out of the way...i'd love it if miami loaded the scoareboard..it's sunday, you're playing with the big boys, grow a pair and you know what, good for NE for signing McDaniels...shows they are smart and take advantage of the system, we'd all love it if Miami had a 1/4 of the smarts NE has

Off topic, you can't blame Tebow for all the attention he's receiving. All he's done is played his heart out and it's been the MEDIA that's blown Tebow mania out of proportion.

Tebow's the same kid now that he was as a freshman starter at Florida.

Well, generally I think that BB is classless in that respect. This wasn't the first time we've seen this from them. That said, this was a playoff game, the Bronks are known for 4th qtr comebacks (yeah,it was a really loooong shot, I know, but...) so I don't know that you can knock them too much. But they don't have a running game (NE), so they had to pass, pass, pass even though they were so far ahead...
