I just wanted to see if any of you guys wanted to play a short little side game. It's pretty simple, as the gist of it is you have been given an NFL expansion team in any city you like. Now as the new brain trust you get to draft players from any of the other 32 NFL teams. Now you won't be able to nab the likes of Larry Fitzgerald, Tom Brady or Jason Pierre-Paul because they would more than likely be protected.

Just like the 2002 Expansion draft, Griddles and I have gone through the 32 teams and picked out 5 players from each team not protected. So there are 160 players to select from and yes Peyton Manning is available. You have to think short and long term with your team, and no you are not drafting an entire team just a core you believe you can build around.

Give your team a city and name. Name your coaching squad, no college coaches or coaches retired for more than a year. Quick explanation of your offensive/defensive philosophy and no you don't have to be super detailed, this is just a quick game.

    Rules.

    1. You get $34,000,000 budget which equals to 40% of our salary cap this year. The Texans had to work with 38%.

    2. Maximum of 2 players from a specific NFL franchise.

    3. Brief explanation of why you drafted the player.

That's about it, some people will draft 10 players, some 14 as long as it adds up to $34 million.

Winners will be determined by a vote of your peers, I'll need 5 volunteers who will give us a top 3, with each place having a different value. We'll tally the point total and voila a winner.

If you want to be in this, just post below and I will post the 160 players you can draft from around 7 PM EST.

Offensively I want a solid OL and a deadly passing attack with serviceable RB. Defensively I want to be aggressive. Gets some pass rushers and BLITZ. Get some corners and have at it show the opposing team no mercy. Looking forward to the pool.

You guys are silly, I figure you guys wouldn't hire any current HCs but coordinators as HCs. It's ok, if the game catches on it can be refined.

Really? I thought he was a defensive guru? And isnt Eric Wedge a great offensive mind? I mean the Mariners score about 3 runs a game....that's good right?

It's a test run. If it's fun and works well enough we can expand it.

Basically there are 160 unprotected players, for now everyone can have the same player on their teams because this is a what if you were given the 33rd Expansion team and this is the list of guys you had to choose to put together a team.

Now Peyton Manning is on the list, I'm under the assumption he will be a popular pick because everyone needs a franchise QB, but there could be doubt that he's ever healthy enough to go if you believe in all those neck surgeries. Think of how the Houston Texans got screwed when they took Bosseli and his guaranteed 6 million. You have to justify the pick.

Now we can go about this two ways, we can make it so we have 8 GMs, and we can do pairings for head to head matchups.

So instead of everyone being the 33rd Franchise, half would be the 33rd, the other four would be the 34th franchise. You win from a vote, and would move on in a tournament style to crown the best expansion Franchise GM.

I decided to cap it at 8 GMs. You will be paired up by the order you were signed up. Basically it means when you draft, you can't take someone your opponent took.

There will be then a vote, winner moves on.

    Skeet84 vs BuckeyeKing | ToddsPhins vs Fin-Omenal | Boik14 vs Paul13 | BigE vs TBA
