Brian Tracey breaking down the concept of investing a mere 3% of your income in learning new skills and information as well as techniques.

    A couple of thoughts here:

-I think current America is so focused on how bad things are, that most are not bothering to try and make their own situations better, this in the face of exploding college enrollments, the plain fact is College done well teaches you how to differentiate yourself in your thinking and professionalism, once completed you then have to face the horde of others who just graduated themselves, a catch-22 unless one takes the extra step of actually effectively applying increased knowledge you are wasting your time.

-There is an equally valid approach that revolves around inner centered self fulfillment approaches to life, however this path also requires reliance on riding events and suffering, or prospering, from the times, as long as that is understood then there is no real downside.

Fun stuff, my personal philosophy is optimism is always preferable to cynicism, so solutions are better than complaints from my point of view.

    Admirable attitude, padre.

I've been searching for new employment for several years now with no success. My experiences have been that a college degree - once a thing which gave you a leg-up on the competition - is now nothing more than the price of admission to even be considered for a job. Having a degree alone is no longer enough. Now you need other skills, a huge personality, or most importantly - connections. Knowing the right people will trump qualifications ten times out of ten in my experience. So the best advice I would give, if asked, would probably be networking

Mostly, the really funny thing is there is no course on "networking", lots of them on stuff of marginal utility, but dealing with people..not so much...this with the internet and such knowledge available for "free" with even a search with the amount of effort it requires to find Bob Griese's stats from the 70's

As for Mr Tracy's video series, well worth the view, especially the portion about how the brain can expand if you challenge it.

This is probably the best vid in the series, the E2E ratio, education v entertainment ratio, which is fairly simple to balance out, yet few people do, this is one of the reasons why I don't play video games, the time involved in playing the things to me is just sort of wasted as there is no prize at the end of the hundreds of hours you spend on the things, so why bother when you can learn how to accomplish things that help your life?

Now the flip side to that is, such time spent could be considered networking, so there is another side that shouldn't just be ignored.

I play video games for the same reasons I watch NFL: to be entertained.

That said, I appeciate the overall message at play there.

Just avoid the 50 to 1 E2E ratio!
