Who's out there next year at WR that could be a great pickup for Miami? I think with a good WR signing along with a FA or rookie TE the offense will be in good shape next season as long as Beck continues to improve like he should and Ronnie gets healthy in time.

The OL could still use some improvement of course but I don't think it's as crucial as WR.

Patrick Crayton in Dallas is a FA. If they have Terry Glenn back in big D they might not re-sign him.

Bernard Berrian is my choice! Offcourse if we can some how steal Moss from the Patriots why not! Patrick Crayton suffers from alot of drop passes. So I say my choice is Berrian

Moss seems nice but they always tag their guys out of reach so I wouldn't bet on it.

But I'd go for it if it seemed reasonable.

At this point I'd bring back Clayton and Duper as old as they are just because I know they would'nt drop half the stuff our guys do.

Its pull your hair out ridiculous.

Also, I wish we'd get someone that JUMPS for the ball and fights to bring it down like Moss does or our very own Oronde Gadsden did.

Not get run over by the CB everytime.

I also like Berrian. Guy is a legitimate deep threat. He and Ginn on the outside would represent some serious speed.

Some might shy away from having two slight receivers out there. Can Berrian block?? But having that kind of big play ability outside is more valuable than a good blocker who can't create separation or catch the ball.

We really need to find a legitimate TE. If Martin stays on his feet last night, we win.

Wow, totally forgot about that play. He was wide open... granted the ball was underthrown, he still had an advantage with the thick turf slowing the defenders down... a real TE would be fantastic.

Commentators said it was a TD. He was behind the defense.

There's a host of young, pretty good but not proven starter quality WRs out there that I'd prefer Miami choose from.

Berrian is one, but there's also Bryant Johnson and Devry Henderson that have not been mentioned.

Out of the TE's, the only guy I'd really be interested in is Dallas Clark. He's not put up huge numbers in Indy, but he's there among a host of targets as well.

I was initially pretty strong on LJ Smith, but he's had an absolute dog**** year and everytime I've seen him he has been nonexistant except for dumb penalties.

We definitely need a TE but you really can't blame Martin last night. He made a couple of really nice catches on some pretty tough balls.

Now the one person I can blame is Derek Hagan. He has to make that catch. That would have been a huge play. Hagan is awful IMO and we have to replace him. Let the Derek Hagan experiment be over please!

Berrian would be a great addition. :)

They said if the pass wasn't behind him Martin was behind the defense and it would have been a TD.

whoever we sign, it won't make any difference unless we have better wr coaching.

why is it that i watch other teams and their receivers catch the ball with their hands instead of trying to catch with their chest pads, like dolphins' receivers do 98% of the time? and who teaches them that - or rather, who allows them to be that ****ing lazy with technique, when technique is everything for a wr?

it struck me most watching hawaii this season; (as a westcoaster, i get to see them a lot) all of their receivers, without fail, catch the ball with their hands. they are disciplined and well-coached, and as a result you rarely see a ball on the ground after a pass play.

It's not because somehow in hawaii, receivers magically decide to have good technique. it is forced on them by their coaches, who don't stand for anything less than excellence. they don't run sloppy routes, and they catch passes - period. they don't see the field if they don't comply.

now think about this: how different could chris chambers' career have been if his various coaches had done him the service of insisting on good technique from him, and benching him if he didn't comply?

more exciting than any fa we could sign this offseason would be to see the hire of a tough-minded wr coach and an oc that backed him 100% when it came to compliance in the basics.

We definitely need a guy who could go across the middle and pickup the tough yardage like Welker did, but I still have an ounce of hope that maybe Derek Hagan can be that type. If not, then Patrick Crayton certainly fits the script.

However, a deep threat is a necessity. Once Ted Ginn breaks through, he's going to see the double consistently. In that sense, Bernard Berrian FTW.

Nice points! As much as we all like it when when we snag a highly rated WR in the draft, the drawback is it usually takes them a couple of years to develop. The problem for us may be prying one away and not over paying in the process should a guy hit the market. Never-the-less, I'm with you all, Mueller needs to get an upgrade at WR and TE in here, ASAP!!

I think we'll fail just fine with what we have without bringing in proven losers.

you go to war with what you have, and, I'm ok with our crew. No need to bring in losers that can't make a team.

Derek Hagen is a Chris Chambers padwan, he just has not developed into a quality NFL Wr.

If he continues to put the "dropits" on display the rest of the year we should think about upgrading and moving on from DH.

No Patrick Crayton is a legit wr who will (maybe) only be available because Dallas has a ton of guys whose contracts are up at the end of the year and they wont be able to re sign them all.

I vote we give excuses for DH as much as were given for CC.

He's got a few years yet to develope his...."Potential"....Key difference is, CC was just CC. He was that at UW, and, he never changed and, he never will.

I agree DH is not performing......Oh well..Lets give him as many years as CC had.

As much as it pains me to say it I agree, at least about looking to upgrade. We may or may not give him another year to see if he can iron out the drops but I dont want to go into next year counting on him to be the number 3 guy. I would be OK with keeping him as a 4 or a 5 though and letting him earn his way back if he can. His rookie contract is cheap so its not like keeping him around will hurt us in that department.

DH drives me up the wall like CC did, Monday he got open deep, lept high up in the air to snag the ball, which was thrown with a nice touch BTW, the ball hits him in the hands..bounces off his chest and landed incomplete...

Wr core of Ginn, Hagan and LBooker doesn't sound terrible if Hagan can improve that concentration, if not, we can take yrs off of the CC learning curve....and save gray hairs for Finfans across the world...lol!

I've flipflopped on DH. I thought he should be given another year to develop, but you know what, he's been catching balls since high school. If he hasn't learned to do it right by now he never will.

I'd look for a possesion type receiver in the mid rounds or pick up a bargain in FA. It looks like we want to have Lo Booker switch to WR, so that would be 2 speed guys assuming he works out.

Where were are, the 141'st best reciever isn't going to help us.

    Hagan......

Hagan has been a huge disappointment to me. His rookie year, I thought he had an uncanny abilty to get open due to his speed and route-running. He seemed to be the total package.....then he started dropping the ball. I hoped that it was just rookie-jitters and that he would figure it out, but he never has. Freakin' shame, but in order to be a pass-catcher, you actually have to be able to CATCH the BALL! LOL

With Jason Allen starting to improve . . . . the question marks from that draft are NOW shifting to Hagan. He has to get better with the hands . . . he could be such a weapon, but if he can't consistently catch the ball, he does us no good. I'm not gonna give up on him yet, but I wanna see some strides from him these next 5 games.

As far as FA's are concerned, I like Berrian as well . . . imagine him and Ginn, those 2 speed demons would give teams fits.

I think we should get a big posession receiver, a 6'4" guy with great hands

a new TE and a big WR would be the perfect complement to Ginn

I want a Toby Mcguire look alike to run out of the slot. Where have all the hero's gone. I need a hero. A throw the ball into a crowd and come out with it WR. A guy who goes over the middle...cathes the ball...gets completely murdered..gets up....flips the ball to the refs...and runs back to the huddlew to do it all over again.

The preceding message was NOT a rant on how we should have signed Wes instead of trading him. I am VERY happy with our new center thank you very much. I just want to find a Welker clone.....

You think maybe Lamar Booker could be that guy?
