Im sure this conversation is going on somewhere in the mix of these threads but who are we throwing the ball to? I'd say right we without a doubt have the worst wr core in the league or the least proven at least
haha for those who dont know egnew he is a beast... if he came out in the draft when he was most productive he woulda been the top tight end but he fell off because blaine gabbert left and his production fell. other than tannehill i think this is our most exciting pick, with the wr core we have now i feel like this guy will turn into our number one target. so be excited about him.. seriously
I could see us running a lot of 2 TE stuff, a la NE last season. Even if we took a WR in Round 3 he probably would take a couple years to develop. I'm worried too, but I like what we're doing. Ireland must have some confidence that Gates is going to develop into a consistent home run threat.
I don't know about that. I see Hernandez as a next-generation H-Back. If we wanted someone like that (who can block, run the ball a little, and catch) then we probably should have went with Orson Charles. With Egnew I see a poor man's Jermicheal Finley - a guy that can be flexed outside to create mismatches against smaller and less physical cornerbacks.
Egnew has the best vertical and broad jump in combine for a TE this might be a great grab almost a WR. Edit: the 21 bench presses for a tight end is better than the 19 the Jets linebacker pick was LOL this guy is a big boy.
Guys in case you haven't noticed there are a crap load of Wr's who are sliding right now. There is going to be someone there at great value in the 4th.
Some names to think about: - Marvin Jones - Nick Toon - Greg Childs All have a very good chance of being there when we are on the clock to tomorrow.
yeah he would have. reading the scouting reports if he would have came out after 2010 he would have been a first round pick
in 2010 with gabbert he had 90 receptions almost 800 yards and 5 tds last year without gabbert 50 receptions 500yds 3 tds... with a good quarterback he was productive
The problem is a) he's a receiving TE who doesn't block ... Don't we have one already in Clay? b) we don't really have any WR threats. Obviously, like the Patriots you can have two TE's - but our offense is not the Pats. WR's are key to the WCC. If we were trading down - get a WR. I like the OT pick (we needed one desperately). The real issue for Miami was that by the time the 8th pick in round 1 came up, all the top 6 players were gone so no-one wanted to trade; and everyone knew Miami wanted Tannehill; and there were so many players on board - no one wanted to trade up. The best deal we could have gotten was from the Eagles at #15 (who gave up a 4th & 6th to get to 12; we might have gotten a 5th or a 4th next year to go with that); but I wonder if they were afraid of dropping past Seattle. It seemed that not long after we got Tannehill, Seattle dropped back. Wish we could have traded down and picked up a 3rd or 4th; I think we'd still have gotten Tannehill. But, it's passed ...
Why havent we heard more from this guy? just to small?
NO! Just NO NO NO NO NO NO NO If you want a Canes WR it's Tommy Streeter, who is going to be an absolute superstar IMO. This is coming from a Canes fan, Benjamin SUCKS.
Sucks? Not sure I agree... Would be happy to take a 4.32 speedster at some point in the late round. Try and convert him to a WW type. If it doesn't work, owell. He's still fast a **** and can return.
WR Chris Givens Marvin McNutt Marvin Jones Nick Toon Devon Wylie Would love to get two of these guys somehow.
Criner, Toon, Jones, McNutt or Streeter are on my wish list for tomorrow. Preferably Criner and Streeter, that would be sweet
yeah I dunno I thought Benjamin would have a better year he just never seems to get in the end zone. Streeter should end up the better pro my main issue with him was his vertical jump was horrible but hes a taller bigger wr that ran close to 4.3 and he found the end zone a lot more than Benjamin this year.
