I was trying to think... Lamar Miller wearing #44... the last running back we had that wore #44... Rob Konrad? And of course he's a fullback so that doesn't count... before that? Mr Clean??
and the money shot... Jeff Darlington @JeffDarlington I don't believe you can learn a lot from rookie minicamp, but I can conclude this from today: Tannehill throws one pretty, pretty football.
As a 1/2/3 it'd be VD/RM then SS. With RM then moving into the nickel. Sean Smith gets a demotion...but hardly noticeable since I'm sure we will be in the nickel/dime probably 65% of the time. Right now I think our #5 CB isn't on the roster. Will probably be a late pickup. And I sure hope someone really comes up and nails Carroll downward, because I don't want to see him as the #4 CB.
It might. I think it's a cool # for a back. Original for us. Paul Lankford CB was the greatest dolphin to wear #44... and that's not saying much.
Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero Practice is over... Ryan Tannehill throws a BEAUTIFUL out pass. GREAT comeback, too. I have to get Armando's tweets from retweets as he apparently has me blocked. For the life of me I don't know why... EDIT... might have something to do with the following tweet:
People comparing Ryan Tannehill to Chad Henne...it's actually not as far off as many would hope, but just remember that if Chad Henne had 4.5 speed, handled pressure and threw the football on the run like Ryan Tannehill does...he wouldn't be Chad Henne.
Henne had a hell of an arm, he could throw it on a rope, Tannehill's ball flight on the deep outs have similar trajectory, but if those passes are accurate, that by no means is a bad thing... I'am excited to see our Qb scramble, keep his composure, keep the eyes downfield and deliver strikes.
I can definitely see the physical comparisons between Tannehill and Henne. And as CK alluded to, it's not necessarily as bad thing. Tannehill is miles more athletic though. BTW, tell me that Tannehill doesn't look like Henne here, the face/helmet make them look like brothers.
that's a good shot, it's good for the players to see what a first round physical prescense looks like running around.
at first, we'll compare him to Henne... once he's started a few games, we'll be comparing him to Marino!!
Tannehill showing off some flexibility. By the way, this offense is going to run a LOT of bootlegs. I can feel it already.
Man I hope he doesnt keep that helmet, I don't like that facemask style at all. I think the Tom Brady facemask looks so much more bad ***.
Find it interesting that, at least so far, only one player that I can see has tweeted since practice ended. Kevyn Scott. Kevyn Scott @K_Scott26 O wow.... I forgot about this South Florida Heat!
Jacquies Smith @Jachalp3 Now that I got a nice first day under my belt time to get better Derek Dennis @6BONECRUSHER3 Day 2 in books had a solid practice back to hotel to prepare for day 3!!! Josh Kaddu @JoshKaddu First practice in the books.gotta get use to this humidity ha but the weathers beautiful out here.1 down 2 to go
eh, I'll go ahead and post this here because I'm selfish: http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/42015/dolphins-rookie-mini-camp-notes
Hard to not see a head to head competition for these two. They will have others in the mix , but you can't see both making the roster imo.
I would not bother. They have a crew looking up that way and have security remove anyone up there when things are closed to the public. Been there done that
Well, if folks recall Henne ran a ton of bootlegs when he first started for us, but Defenses caught onto them and cut them off. Henne could only roll right iirc, he was actually fairly accurate on the deep stuff, his problem was lack of killer instinct in the red zone.
I think it's as possible as anything else that our 3, 4 and 5 WRs are Gates, Cunningham and Matthews. Then again, one of the final 3 could be Marlon Moore, Fuller or Moye. Far too early to attempt to form any accurate reads on how it will play out. Other than when Bess was a rookie, usually the receiver who flashed in mini camps, disappeared in training camp. Guys like Kirby Dar Dar, and Brian Manning come to mind.
Funny thing is, Moye and Fuller are "big man's game" players to a "T", different names from Wallace and Pruitt, same template. I suspect Fuller is a good bet to at least make the practice squad, if not the roster.
