Funny thing is, MMoore is more like a GB wr, he's maybe 6'1, 195 or so?

He's definitely not that tall unless he's grown in the past 3 years (found out he was 6'0"3/8 at his pro day), and I don't think he's quite that heavy.

To me the writing on the wall has been that Philbin doesn't really like Moore and that Garrard is his guy. Peter King essentially confirmed the second part of that whereas some things Philbin said earlier in the season about Moore gave me the impression he doesn't really like him much.

I suspect that is correct, MMoore can play Qb in the NFL the problem is Philbin/Sherman's offense simply does not match up to his strengths.

MMoore can run hot and cold, throws a good deep ball, this offense requires accuracy and athleticism, two things MMoore does not have in abundance. He tosses far to many wounded duck/inaccurate passes. I thought he'd be a good fit in KC but they added the immortal Brady Quinn.

NFL.com has him at 6' even and 190. So that ten lbs would be it. His Pro Day ht/wt was 6003 and 182. So by this point, adding a little muscle and being 190 would seem logical.
I guess I could have said top 9 WRs to include Julius Pruitt.
Other than Moore being a couple double whoppers with cheese under 200, the rest of the top 9 (other than Bess) all exceed the 6' and 200 levels though.

edit: Actually Gates is slightly under on both. Team site roster has him at 197, and 5'11, but his measured height at his pro day was 5116.

I guess I must be a blind Matt Moore homer, because I ain't noticed the writing on the wall indicating any preference Philbin has of Garrard over MM. Nothing he has flat out said, nor any hints he has dropped. Other than Garrard playing some WCO early in his career, I do not see any leg up that he may have.

He did for me when he said "I met Matt Moore and he was really positive"

EG: I gave him some bad news and he was still positive about his chances

I can grasp at straws with the best of them... and I have to admit, that's really grasping :wink2:... on a similar note, NFLN had a poll... who would start opening day for the Dolphins. 40% said Garrard, 38% Tannehill, 22% Moore. Maybe they all know something that I don't. Maybe we should try that same poll here... oh and speaking of fits for the new Dolphins offense... how about Clyde Gates? Compare him to the receivers we drafted/brought in as UDFA's.

I have to say that if Matt Moore isnt the starter from week 1 that its doing the Dolphins a huge disservice. I cant see why on earth we would start Garrard over Moore. Garrard has no upside or trade value. I see him as a vet that will eventually be cut seeing now that we have Tannenhill.

Its truely odd how 2 people can see different things in a player. I see Matt Moore as having plenty of accuracy and athleticism. I really dont see a MAJOR weakness in Moores game. The only thing that could possibly keep him from succeeding would be the pressure on him to carry this franchise to the post season (something he couldnt do with Carolina when having the chance).

The more I watch Moore the more I fall in love with him and trust that its his job to lose this off season.

For all the talk prior to the draft about wide receivers, and the disappointment when we didn't draft one high, it appears like there is going to be a high level of competition with quite a few very promising young receivers in the mix. That much competition could also raise the bar and thusly the level of play. This is going to be a fascinating part of the off season.

I can see some of what some of the conversation about Moore is about. He's a pretty decent QB and throws a nice deep ball, but his accuracy on the shorter quicker throws is inconsistent IMHO. He also doesn't have great vision and good vision is critical in the WCO.

All I've read is that his biggest issue is he's not thick or strong enough to handle getting jammed. He's tall and fast and can catch, but if he's not a "Big Man" like Padre said.

Three things that Philbin said yesterday as far as what is going to separate the group of quarterbacks this summer from 1st to 3rd string:

    Accuracy
    Decision Making
    Play Making

IMO, Matt Moore is not as much of a play maker as the other two. When the play breaks down, and the qb has to move around and make a play with his feet... improvise... that's not what Matt Moore does... certainly not when comparing him to Garrard and Tannehill. How much better will he be in the accuracy/decision making dept's than the other guys determines whether or not he's the day 1 starter. Also, the likelihood that a play breaks down earlier in the season vs later in the season may be higher. So, I think it's going to be interesting to watch. I'm sure we'll know by week 3 of the preseason who the starting quarterback is going to be. Going to be a fun preseason though.

Draft status is no big deal with WR. Mark Clayton, drafted in the 8th rd, would have been an UDFA. I'm pretty optimistic we will come out of this thing with some receivers who can at least catch the damned ball.

Actually, the overall pick number that he was though, #223, would fall in the 7th in the current draft. Still, I totally agree with the point that WRs are one of the more likely positions to find anywhere in the draft or even as a UDFA.

    J. Haulcy-Bateman didn't sound like he knew one way or the other, but wasn't fund of the weather. Not clear on whether he would say no, or if he will get an invite. I wonder if any of the players invited will get an invite, but I am personally pulling for long haired Chaz to get an offer. Would be sweat to see a guy move to the football like Zach used to do. That has been sorely missed in Miami for some time.

    From the national football post..

"Wide receiver—Jeff Fuller, Texas A&M. He was one of the higher ranked players coming into the 2011 season. Two front office men told me last fall Fuller was a first round talent. He didn’t play as well as a senior as he did as a junior. He had a poor senior Bowl. Everybody got down on him. But it’s still crazy that he was undrafted. It will be a surprise if he does not stick with the receiver-poor Dolphins.
