This one is so full of ****ing win. Shut down the focus groups and all the other rubbish, go with that. Keep the helmets the same (with this logo). Bring back a TRUE aqua, not the colour they call "aqua" now. Go with the old jerseys. No ****ing piping. No drop shadows on the numbers. Aqua and orange, period. White pants and white jerseys or aqua jerseys and white pants and that is ALL. No "alternates", no orange and for the love of everything, no more ****ing aqua pants.
I'd like to see what it looks like w/o the white above the eye, and IMO having the entire fish outlined (or heavily outlined) is a bit much and slightly distracting. And look at the helmet carefully----- the dark aqua line along the dolphin's head actually becomes the helmet (the original did this, but it wasn't this extreme and noticeable) . Also, the gap between the dolphin's forehead and helmet look terrible (also more exaggerated than the original as this one looks like it's floating). It'd be nice if the helmet were tad smaller so it doesn't overpower the logo. Would also like to see what other variations of white pattern along the belly look like. Although the design has overall good eye appeal it's not good enough to be a finished product IMO.... but it's a good starting point. Completely agree with all the rest.
I've said it more than a few times that I like some of the Nike stuff but that logo looks totally fake. Give me the CARTOON look over that disaster any day....
Digging the **** out of this. Like "retro-modding" a car. Elements of the old with a new flair. Hope this somehow gets into the FO's line of sight.
See, I like that logo too, but it's nearly identical to the one we have now. So why bother changing it?
I like the jerseys, but I agree with those that don't particularly dig the grey, particularly that shade. Having said that, I wouldn't wretch at adding some greyish-silver if done tastefully. I think it might look pretty cool in combination with the aqua jersey, similar to the picture but not quite as grey. The white jerseys, however, should stay white. Any greyish-silver there should only be as an accent, and done in moderation. I could do without the grey alternate jersey.
That logo is fine. The colors are good. the dolphin is good. the sunburst is good. The helmet is horrible. Its the old helmet and it makes the dolphin look like a tard wearing a safety helmet. There's no need for a helmet at all. Its pointless to have it on there. Its always been dumb. Tradition can go **** itself. If anyone thinks it needs to stay because of tradition, then you're crapping on the past. You're basically saying the only thing that matters about the accomplishments of this team in its golden days is a stupid fake helmet on a dolphin...on a helmet. Its disrespectful. Lose the helmet.
I gotta still chuckle at those wondering how in the hell someone thought of putting a football helmet on a Dolphin that is the mascot for a football team.... Yeah..... it's really out of left field. I mean a football mascot wearing a football helmet....... Yeah I just don't see the correlation.
Who has been stumped by why they put one on there? I know why Oscar Meyer made a vehicle that looks like a giant hot dog...but I'd rather drive a Ferrari.
That's a ridiculous comparison for the argument and as for the discussion on which car you'd rather drive...... quite frankly the Weenie Mobile fits you more than the Italian car.

Obviously we "get it". It just looks stupid. The "jet" on the jets helmet doesnt have a helmet, or the texan, or the bronco, or the saints etc etc..... Its pretty simple (in more ways than one) "lets put a helmet on the dolphin cause its a football mascot har har har" It would look sleeker, modern and BETTER if it were off. IMHO.
I'll wait to see what they come up with, but a tweak would be fine. Uniform changes to go back to the classic 70's look would be a good idea. Oh, and as for helmets on animals?
Look If you don't like it that's fine. I get it. I just find it hysterical when the argument is made that it's ridiculous for the designer to have thought to put a helmet on the Dolphin when it makes all the sense in the world. Some People make it seem like it was the most inane thing ever done.
Naw it's all about preventing concussions, player safety! I mean, even the animals are protected in the modern NFL. Who could make fun of us when all the OTHER animal logos have helmets, right? Make it happen Goodell.....
Look it's unique to our logo. There's nothing wrong with being unique and not being like all the rest. I actually really like that about our team colors and logo..... they are unique, extremely relevant to the area the team represents and to the sport itself. Like I said. If you want to discuss whether you personally like it or not have at it. To say it's a ridiculous concept or that it simply dosen't fit or even better that "it's disrespectful".... LMAO.... then what has become ridiculous is the actual discussion.
The argument is made all the time in these threads that the concept is ridiculous. It's like the PoFo in here. If you get called on something just divert the discussion.
It is not that the concept is ridiculous. No one is saying that it doesn't make sense. It is that it looks silly.
No one is *****ing about it's original design, we are making a case for it's removal considering they are updating our logo..... See my next post....
I don't understand what you're saying. You're essentially proving my point that the basic design of the logo should stay the same since it's been like that since day 1.
all of those are mean animals (ok maybe not the cardinal and seahawk). But We have Flipper. With the birds you can make them menacing. Ours will always look like it is jumping through a hoop at Sea World I know in real life dolphins are mean, they rape, they attack, they kill. But still, we have Flipper. Leave the helmet.
You said earlier whats the point of changing things if it looks like the original. I am saying, as are others, to make changes so its not a pointless change. Removing the helmet, imho, would greatly improve our logo. It looks ridiculous. I don't care if it's been there since day one. We are not randomly saying "whoever designed this 50 years ago sucks" we are saying "it had its run, it looks ridiculous now.....lets change it"
Fair enough, but I just don't agree. Our logo has been tweaked a few times but it's always had the same main parts. Aqua dolphin, white helmet, and orange sun. I think it should always be like that. I GET the argument on the other side, but I just don't agree with it. I love what we have now and I love what we had before. Whatever changes may or may not be made, I hope it looks like it always has.
The reality in all of this is that there will never be a logo for any team or organization that an entire fan base will love. The challenge for a team is do you keep a branded icon identity or do you change everything up every few years to make sure you identify with every type of fan out there?
And by the way, looking at the logos from other teams that was posted. I don't understand how ours looks "cartooney", yet those other teams don't.
