Nah. But I think we'll be over .500. I don't even think we'll make the playoffs, but I firmly believe we're better than average.

I just don't see where we got worse except maybe WR but that is debatable.

    Better QB
    Probably better coach
    Better DL
Better LB scheme for us IMO
    Better CBs
    Better at RB
    Better Safeties

    ? WR
    ? Blocking TEs and FB
    ? OL

I think the new system, and fast pace will lead to more errors and penalties than under Sparano.

Overall, I think we could win up to 8 games, or as few as 5

It's a 7-9 win team this year. As for Chad not speaking to the media it's his choice not a clamp down by the team. Maybe he thinks he looked like an *** and wants to tone it down. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy that has a gray area. He is either flapping his gums or shutting up.

I would say we're better on the OL. I mean Carey/Columbo are not here, that has to put a "+" in the column doesn't it?

I just don't see how being demonstrably better everywhere but WR and blocking TE can equal less than the 3 more wins, when we've also had a much better offseason.

I never understood why teams try to muzzle players just let them talk if they can't back it up its embarrassing enough for them and they'll learn to shut up. The giants always seem to run there mouths when there winning its overblown tbh.

    Well away from here
I think this si giving his new coach some respect. Basically, 'coach told me to handle my business professionally, and how I portray the organization, so not speaking is the easiest way to do it.'

If Chad was truly unhappy, he'd a find a way to show it, he wouldn't hide it, it's not his style. I think Chad is about business this year, you can tell he was not happy about how last year went and he's committed to being better. Plus he needs to make some noise the right way to stay employed, he knows that.

Finally, don't underestimate how much weight Philbin's comment when asked by the Hard Knocks crew if he would cut Johnson if he didn't rein in the comments he made at his press conference. Philbin answered right away that they would do it. Chnaces are Chad saw that on TV last night and it resonated, and not in a bad way. Philbin was honest, not mean or demonstrative, just calm.......and that can carry more weight than being loud and demonstrative. Anyone who saw that 20 second exchange in Philbin's office knows he wasn't kidding, nor did he avoid the question. Philbin would believe in and live with that decision. That came across loud and clear to me.

No way we didn't get better at O-line. No one can be worse than our right side last season. As for blocking TE, we didn't draft any because we have a top flight blocking TE already. That's not a question mark just because Les Brown can't block. Fasano is an elite blocker. FB, who knows. WR I can say we have on paper gotten worse. I don't know how that will translate to on the field.

This whole thing where Chad Johnson supposedly needs to be able to run his mouth 24:7 in order to play well strikes me as complete BS. It has struck me as complete BS in the past and it continues to strike me as complete BS. It's an excuse for a guy to keep doing exactly what he wants to do.

He didn't have a good season in NE because he didn't fit the system and he never understood the complex system of option routes. Pure and simple. It wasn't because he was silent or stifled or any of that BS. It was because they gave him zero benefit of the doubt based on his history, and he just wasn't getting it.

Also, Chad said he wasn't talking to the media. I'm willing to bet the Sith Lord up there didn't even put up with Chad being Chad in practice. I bet Chad is fine.

I just watched it. I love Hard Knocks. After the first episode I have no idea why teams didn't want to be a part of it. There isn't anything I can see that hasn't been available in reports on the team.

I really prefer your theory to mine, for a lot of reasons.

End of the day, we need Chad to bring even 75% of his old productivity to this team.

However that happens is fine by me.

Well, Egnew can't block either. Thus Mastrud ahead of him on the chart.

Overall we do look better. Just not at TE. I think we are even with last year at starter but with less depth.

I see us as a 7 to 9 win team. Our schedule is very weak, and outside of the Pats, so are our division rivals. I'm not granting the Bills a wildcard because they backed the Brinks truck up to Mario's door. How'd that work out for them when they did that to Fitzpatty?

At WR though, we are worse without Marshall and it is not debatable, unless you want to be snarky and argumentative just because its the type of thing that can't truly be proven by an answer or numbers. A young guy needs to step up this year BIG TIME at WR.

What number would they use to prove they are better right now without him? They do not exist.

yards by wide receivers and points per game. Both that were down when Marshall was on the field.

They don't. Because so many variables occur when he "was" on the field, opening up the run game, drawing double coverage. Perhaps scoring, after he set a play up and left the field. I'm not sure what numbers you speak of either, and how far they go back proving we are worse with him. Does it go into the Feidler/ Marino era? And to argue with numbers if we are better "now", when a body of numbers don't yet exist for the now..

I look at it as an addition by subtraction with Marshall. The drops, the attitude, are all gone. It remains to be seen if it was a good move or not, but I have no problem with it.

I think maybe Chad did watch. I think he saw himself lacking class cursing so gratuitously if he did watch. Maybe he feels a little bit of shame. I curse. If I knew many eyes were on me, I'd try to conduct myself with a little more couth.

Alright Garrards kid singing the Miami Dolphins song was adorable. I think Matt Moore has the best wife/gf so far btw....I'd rather her than Les' girl, she doesnt look as fake.

I didn't mean depth in terms of quantity of human bodies. I meant good quality depth players who I'd WANT to see in there.

I don't see anyone other than Fasano who can catch and block well.

Actually I take it back. You have a point.

I just think Egnew and Brown are useless as tight ends and thus have not improved us.

So why didn't opening the run game help the team score more points? Why didn't drawing double coverage allow other receivers to have better seasons?

I do not feel like fishing up the post Section126 wrote, however he showed that the receivers numbers were down and the points per game were also down when Marshall was on the field.

I wouldn't say it is fact that Miami is better off with Marshall, however I can say without a doubt that saying so isn't just being argumentative and snarky.

i think in its most simplistic form, you look at a roster with or without Marshall, its worse without him. but yeah, im kinda tired too. lets just agree to disagree.

I agree that in its most simplistic form looking at the roster, it looks worse without Marshall. However football isn't played on looking at the roster. There are plenty of good arguments that Miami is at least just as well off without him and a few decent arguments that they are even better off.

I think there are tons of significant reasons why we are better with him, and a very few relevant reasons why we are not.

If you are saying we are a better team with Marshall, then what is your evidence and what would need to happen this year for you to think we are better without him?
