LN needs to have the best season of his career. And Ocho needs to have a Cincinatti-esque season. And going forward, LN needs to join the next level of NFL Wrs. Not Marshall's elite level, but the next level. Then I'd call it a good transition.

You have no stats. And even if you did, they don't tell the whole story. Agreed otherwise.

What if CJ has about the same kind of season statistically as Marshall's best year here, and everyone else does about the same....would that be enough? What if we produce more passing yards or completions or receiving TDs? What if our record is better? I mean if you say he makes us a better team, then wouldn't our record reflect that?

I think it goes by the offensive numbers IMO....wins maybe but games can be determined on defensive TDs as well of ST.....

Too me I am looking how the passing offense does, ratings and its efficiency, and how Bush does...call me crazy I dont think Bush has that great a year without him, and that the philo on offense is changing...

Then people would dig deeper and look for 1st down completions, YAC, etc. just to prove their point. It is endless.

Lets see what Marshall does this year in Chicago. A place that has been a graveyard for WRs since Willie Gault.

IMO, he sounded equally as impressed with Martin. Considering his background as a OL coach, that says something equally as special about JM, albeit a premier QB is harder to find than a premier right tackle.

OL is definitely 100% better than last year. Jake is healthy, Pouncey has a year of experience, and Hicks and Martin will be huge upgrades over Carey/Colombo, especially in pass protection.

people really need to not worry so much about the Vontae Davis thing. In the end, as awesome as Hard Knocks is and as well made as it is, it's still 'reality tv'- and produced/forced drama is part of the territory, it gets people talking. While under-preparation and whining are areas of concern, we have no idea where everyone stands and are forming a completely solid opinion of VD with about 10 seconds of camera footage plucked from an entire WEEK of filming. These guys are good, they can make you believe anything you want to.

It instantly reminded me of this very interesting (and funny) article from Cracked pointing out things Reality shows do to get you to talk about them more and everything. http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-secrets-making-reality-tv-they-dont-want-you-to-know/

all this said, Hard Knocks is not like all those trashy reality shows out there. These guys are actual professionals doing an ACTUAL job, and it isn't produced solely for the purpose of marketing cheesy brand names and such.

All I'm saying is take the 'drama' portions with a grain of salt until you hear from coaches, leaks, and writers who are being told the stories first hand and legitly, rather than jumping to conclusions based off of a tv show. I think VD is a great DB, but yes he better be in shape and be able to hold his liquids by the season opener!

The unearthed bodies of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez would've been upgrades over Carey/Colombo (too soon?)...Was it me or was Ireland just straight up feckin' with us last year?

One thing working for us is a fairly favorable schedule coupled with a Dolphin team that should be significantly more prepared for week 1 than 2011. I could see that turning 6-10 into 9-7, especially if a couple breaks go our way for once.
Look at our non conference games to go along with 2 vs the Jests:
Houston (who might not be fast out the gate this year, and 1st game back for Schaub)
1pm September home game vs Oakland followed by 1pm home vs Jets
    Indy
    St Louis
    Zona
    Seattle
    Jax
    Tenn
    Cincy

We have possibly one of the easiest opposing QB schedules of 2012, no?

The thing with Vontae isn't just what he was saying, its what the coaches were saying during the show. Philbin alluded to him acting like a child and always going to the bathroom when they do walk throughs and 2 other coaches mentioned he doesn't go at it 100%. It seems like their patience is wearing thin.

Philbin never said anything about him "always" having to go to the bathroom.

I'm not as worried about him as most of you are. When he's been healthy he's been a pit bull. I love having him here.

I know I am late to the party, but here are my thoughts (I know some of these points were already made, but regardless here they are in chronological order):

1.) Dawn Aponte's comment about Tannehill was just plan stupid. This leads me to believe the Dolphins were not cooperatively working toward an agreement with Tannehill. Just plan stupid as Ck pointed out many of times before. It's like our front office has the view point of, "this is how its going to be and no concessions will be made."

2.) Really awkward Jeff Ireland moment: Ireland talking to Braylon Edwards, “Actually, we met probably when you came out of college. Probably back in the day.” Just awkward because we were widely thought to be choosing between Ronnie brown and Edwards. I believe Edwards even made a point of saying he wanted to make the Dolphins pay for passing on him after the draft. My simple point is why open an old can of worms when it didn't need to be done.

3.) Stephen Ross in a response about Ireland's future, “We take it one year at a time.” Not too confident or committed it seems.

4.) Ireland interrupts Edwards after asking him a serious question to make a joke. Weird and poor etiquette.

5.) I like how Ireland talks to players in couches besides to the players as opposed to directly opposite them and behind a big desk.

6.) I thought Chad going into the coaches meeting was comical and Philban handled it well, with a calm demeanor.

7.) Johnson seems really motivated and hungry. He has a weird relationship with his wife. Funny dude overall.

8.) Philban meeting Ryan Tannehill for the first time was kind of funny. Philban looked like he was shocked and so happy to see Ryan for the first time. It was like a guy meeting a super hot girl for the first time lol.

9.) Hard Knocks had a great shot of refocusing from Ryan Tannehill's head to a picture of Dan Marino in background. It was great because they didn't do any cheap voice over during it. It was silent and powerful and it stirred my loins.

10.) Les Brown just doesn’t have the muscles and body for blocking yet. He just looks too skinny and lean to be out there blocking. It really shows in his blocking that he hasn't been blocking since high school. I don't know if he will make the team could be a candidate for the practice squad though. He is a player that most likely would clear waver wires and with his work ethic could turn into someone by next year.

11.) Philban talking to Chad Johnson about saying f*** during the interview was really awkward just because it was so indirect. If Philban would have just come out and said exactly what was upsetting him that would have worked much better than beating around the bush. Philban's body language was really off to; he wasn't even looking at Chad Johnson and his body wasn't faced a different direction than Johnson's. Philban probably hasn't had to have many talks like that and it showed.

12.) I like that Philban told Johnson that if he had any problems he could go to his office and say “Hey Joe.” For some reason I like when bosses act personable.

13.) Love the fast-paced training camp. If you practice fast, you play fast.

14.) I don't want to be overly critical of Philban, but he seemed pretty awkward most of the time during the first episode. His entrance into the QB meeting was just odd. He walks in real slow like he was entering the wrong room. The makes awkward chit-chat before asking “what kind of coffee do you guys have?” and then immediately saying “slide over ryan” and changing topics before they even had a chance to answer. To me I think it just shows Philban's lack of experience being "in charge."

15.) Someone else mentioned it but, Matt Moore throwing something away right after Philban left was pretty ironic… He couldn’t be happy being listed as the number 2. I think it also showed when he was sitting there nobbing his head real affirmatively. I do that when I am angry, but know there isn’t anything I can do lol.

16.) This QB battle is going to get intense. I think all three guys could make legitimate cases to start and they are all relatively close in terms of talent and skill. I really don't see one player running away with it this year. That being said, I see Garrard starting the beginning of the season with Tannehill playing later on in the season. It should be interesting.
