Here's the situation in my eyes, from a GM perspective you must take into account the totality of the relationship that he is involved in. As silly as that sounds, it's a must if your contemplating whether to give him another strike..If your a Gm, you due research on the woman he has married and decided to associate himself with. and you must take into account her past, and motives.basicslly you have to think for Chad because obviously he can't think for himself..

Conclusion, if you move forward with chad , you move forward with This relationship...for me, that's a nogo, his judgement is flawed no matter how much I believe he is a kind person with a good heart, who worked hard and would of been good for our team.

That woman got him fired, that woman got him no more chances, and ultimately, you chose that woman, so I'm sorry, the decision is you must go.

The only way you can appease guys like Dansby in this case is to say to chad, chad we'll keep you, but you will have to cut ties with that woman..lol, now we know how ridiculous that sounds, and how unreasonable, someone needs to tell Dansby that giving chad another chance is giving her another chance as well, and any dumass should know that that's a ticking time bomb waiting to happen.

I'm sure some players have some gang related mentalities when it comes to football, loyalty being one of them, they wanna know that the franchise will stand behind them, and if they don't feel like that's the case, I'm not so sure everything is kosher right now..

Dude, just go be a Pats fan already. We get it you don't like Ross, don't like Ireland, don't like Tannehill, don't like the talent or players on the team and you think they will be terrible. In fact you are secretly hoping because I know you've posted that you hope they end up with Barkley. Honestly why still be a fan of this team at this point? Jut go jump on someone elses bandwagon.

I'd be interested to know the assessment method Dansby is using for determining how many strikes a player has had in the minds of the people making these decisions.

I suspect this probably was the third strike. Or perhaps just a real bad second one.

How many strikes does a guy who knew this may be his last hurrah need? He knew what would happen as evidence by his comments about not giving a ---- about his career....he let his emotions get the best of him and he deserved his release.

    3 strikes....f--- of Dansby.

Strike #1 Telling Goodell your going to send him a check for fines, showing disregard for your team and authority structure.

Strike#2.. Acting a like a clown in a press conference embarrassing your franchise and the people that love the team.

Strike #3..letting an argument with self chosen gutter rat escalate to the point of police involvement.

Strike #2: Did he embarrass you? He certainly didn't embarrass me.

Strike #3: You can't help who you love.

I think cutting him was ridiculous at this point.

He can, but where's it stop? If Dansby does it, and it's deemed tolerable, then another player will do it.... then another.... then another.... until you eventually lose control of the team, players turn into the selfish me-me-me type, the team loses unity, and you ultimately end up becoming the Jets.

Easiest way to avoid that potential downward spiral is to stomp it out from the beginning, which is why Philbin made the right decision, and he should have a good mind to implement rules & consequences for players who publicly distract the team w/o first going to coaches or mgmt.

I was embarassed. Very much so to be a Dolphins fan.

Here we are with a lot of nice things to talk about. Our rookie QB who almost no one thought would be considered to come in and start right away. He was raw. He needed time on the bench, etc. etc. has come in and basically played better than the team MVP last year and all anyone cares about is Chad Ochocinco's arrest and antics on Hard Knocks.

Don't know how you can't see the unnecessary and negative attention he's brought to this team the past 10 days.

Johnson is a big boy; as such, he doesn't have to be told every time he does something that's not agreeable. Philbin can simply keep a mental note of what he deems "strike worthy".

Strike 1: walking in on a coach's meeting and arrogantly taking a seat.
Strike 2: poor representation of the organization by having a public, potty-mouth fest.
Strike 3: failing to execute in a live game. For a guy not guaranteed a roster spot, any crucial drop is critical. This isn't 2007 Chad Johnson.
    Strike 4: domestic violence

*Didn't we just trade Marshall b/c he was a headache?.... Respectfully, do you think we should keep Johnson after he's become as much of a headache in 1 month as Marshall did in 2 years here?

Keeping Chad would've sent an example to the entire team that being undisciplined is tolerable, and we're not the JESTS.

Let me ask you, if this were instead Marlon Moore, what would your stance be?

I have a seriously difficult time believing we simply signed Johnson w/o first laying down our expectations regarding his behavior in Miami, especially after we just traded a productive ProBowl receiver b/c of the distraction he posed not fitting with the direction this organization wanted to go. Chad simply just pushed his luck, and Philbin likely didn't appreciate it.

Antics on Hard Knocks? I'd hardly call anything he did antics. Aside from the coaches meeting thing (Maybe he REALLY didnt want to or couldn't go home to her. I sure as hell wouldn't want to and now we can see why)

I guess where we differ, is that I don't find anything a player does to be embarrassing to myself or my team so long as they perform on the field and their teammates like said player. Everyone obviously liked Chad a lot. You could tell Moore obviously did on HK and Dansby did as well obviously.

As for the other post and Marlon Moore question: I'd still judge him based on what I believe he brings to the field.

So obviously it doesn't bother you that people call us the lolphins. Just like it was the Bungles, and the Faiders before us, we have become a mockery. Chad getting arrested was just another lolphins moment. Sure winning will put an end to that, but right now we are just adding fuel to the fire and going in the wrong direction before the season starts.

    1) Ive actually never heard that.

    2) No it wouldn't bother me. If you aren't first you are last. So unless said team has won a superbowl recently they are in the same boat as us and shouldn't be talking.

    I have unfortunately.

This is just an opinion but if I were Philbin I would address the entire team at once on the Chad Johnson situation and on Dansby's reaction. I would open the floor to any player at that time to air their gripe or concern with it without fear of repercussion. That way I could get it out there and then explain my position and once again make it clear what I expect going forward. I would also tell the team that at the end of the meeting the book was closed on the subject no matter who asked. To me this is just a good way to shut the door and move forward in camp and preseason.

I don't agree with some sentiments that Dansby should be punished in any way. I don't think a fascist regime is what you should be shooting for. Players shouldn't be demoted to second team for having an opinion. He didn't disrespect Philbin IMO he just said that he didn't agree with a decision. Now if he would have went out and called the decision stupid or ridiculous or something to that effect it would be a different story.

Yes Alex, he did embarrass me, I want new fans and their kids to love the team, not sure him in a public setting with a dolphin uniform on acting like a vulgar jackass is going to attract or inspire new fans.

He made wrong choices as to how to recapture himself and his game, doesn't mean I don't think he has a good heart, cause I do, doesn't mean I believe he touched that skank cause I don't, and it doesn't mean I think he couldn't of rebounded performance wise, cause I do, it does mean we're in bed with his choices of how he wants to act, and his choices of who he associates himself with if we wanted to move forward..It's not worth it man.

I don't need three strikes for a guy whose wife shows up at the police station with a 3 inch gash on her forehead from a headbutt she's given taped and sworn testimony saying that he delivered during an argument.

    Do you?

You know what his three strikes have been?

    Strike #1: Cincinnati
    Strike #2: New England
    Strike #3: Miami

Those are the three strikes. All the crap he pulled in Cincinnati was bad enough but then he started to lose his talent. As he correctly pointed out, it was the crap he pulled while he was playing well that made his losing his production totally erase his margin for error...and he was fine with that. He said that's how it should be.

You add on top of that stuff his inappropriate behavior in Miami, especially at that press conference...no-brainer, IMO.

I've already seen three instances in which rookie Head Coach Joe Philbin has had a difficult situation to deal with, and in MY particular opinion left something to be desired in his handling of the situations.

The thing is, Chad Johnson is the common denominator in ALL THREE situations.

Jeff Ireland sure didn't do this rookie Head Coach any favors, asking him to take on one of the most difficult players in the entire NFL to handle. If Chad were just talentless but a colorful personality, you could easily handle that. If Chad's personality were such to where he was just an a-hole and not deep down a good person, you could even handle that. But Chad is talented, a good person, AND crosses too many lines...and that's just downright difficult to handle.

    Bad signing for Jeff Ireland.

Dansby should support his head coach 1st. End of. I don't see that many reports or comments saying the Phins were seriously wrong to cut Johnson so the decision was not that extreme, so to read Dansby commenting has just stoked the fires of POSSIBLE discontent and by going public has started negative opinions which isn't required.

No, but the legacy Chad Johnson leaves behind is the unquestioned leader of the defense just went on air and made it abundently clear he "hates" and does not approve of how this Dolphins management handled the Chad Johnson Affair, and claims that the majority of the locker room is with him on that. Armando has stipulated that it's not the entire locker room, there is definitely a faction that applauded the termination, but he made it clear there's definitely a faction that disapproves strongly.

I didn't disagree with Dansby's right to give voice to his displeasure. I hate the kind of policies that make players afraid to ever say anything, especially to talk about their personal opinions. I thought Dansby couched it the right way by saying this is his personal opinion and he's not being paid to make those decisions AND they probably have more information more than he does, and "had to do what they had to do". I thought he was as respectful as he could be about it. If I were the coach I wouldn't have much of a problem with that radio appearance.

But nonetheless the fact that there's a faction of veteran players that are upset about this at all...and THAT would be my concern if I were the Head Coach. What Dansby said on radio would be a gnat next to a scorpion in comparison with the fact that so many veterans feel strongly against what I just did.

This discord is a legacy handed down by Chad Johnson. One that need not have occurred, if Jeff Ireland had passed on the idea of giving a rookie Head Coach one of the most difficult players in the NFL to handle.

I've heard a lot of times that he's a good person. Unfortunately he requires babysitting, not an ideal situation for a brand new head coach who has to focus on rebuilding a football program.

    Fair enough point.

On the flip side, perhaps it's good we got something like this out of the way early on (during the Philbin era) so that players in the future know to not test him. It might create some locker room tension now, but setting an early example might be good for the locker room's future.

I'm afraid it will create hard feelings that will come back to the surface when things aren't going well. Philbin doesn't yet have the track record to not ever get tested.

But, if we go back to the idea that Philbin, like a parent, just drew a line which taught a valuable lesson to all the kids, even though they didn't like it... then in a way Chad gave Philbin a chance to prove himself and earn their respect if not their love.

The question is, do they disagree but like/respect Philbin for it, or does the rancor extend deeper?

Jeez no one ever backs the players its kind of sad I'll say it again the giants always seem to run there mouth when the players don't like something that happened and it seems to work fine for them. You guys just want to exile everyone for saying anything against the organization.
