Arrington is 2nd team now behind Dowling. But since he was a starter last season, he'll at least be the nickel I'd guess.

Sorry. I should of stayed with my original thinking. ESPN told me mayo and wilfork. I knew more was out.

Patriots cut Jonathan Fanene today. As an ex-Bengal who had a nice 2011, I wonder if he'd get a look. Personally I'd rather try for Darryl Tapp or Brandon Graham as CK noted in his OP.

There's speculation that Fanene will wind up needing knee surgery, and the Pats cut him because he couldn't stay on the field. I doubt he gets a look from us. At least not now, maybe later in the year if he's healthy.

Was unaware of that. Thanks. Fanene played pretty well for Cincinnati last year; I think he had 6.5 sacks. And he could play outside and then reduce inside in passing situations. I know they're trying that with Jared Odrick, and I get why he's playing DE when they're in Under and Over fronts, but I think this defense still lacks pass-rushers. I think those who've mentioned Olivier Vernon being a guy to rush from the inside are right - perhaps he should be there. I'd still prefer a guy like Tapp on the outside as opposed to relying on Koa Misi, Derrick Shelby, and Jamaal Westerman.
