Man it even makes me sad when ZT news isn't posted in Miami Dolphins Discussion. Wish him the best over there.
Sad.... it'll be shock for me when on opening day, the announcers won't be saying "And Middle Linebacker, perennial pro bowler Zach Thomas."
54 is still "THEE MAN"... I still can't fathom such an idiotic move as releasing a player like Zach and its why I'm still in a state of "Blah" over this franchise. The Cowboys are assured to have a dominant D this year with Zach's guidance. Am I the only one too still trying to warm up to Bill (head-coached the hated Jets during some REAL rivalry years and Pats) Parcells regime? I know he's great with personel but still in the "weird" phase for me... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=jc-zachthomas052308&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Good read...
As much as I loved Zach as a player, the man really should have called it a career before he does some permanent damage. I love the fact that he's a competitor but he needs to think about what his life after football will be like if he suffers another and more severe consussion. As far as Parcells goes, I can't argue with his history and I really like the direction that the team is heading, but I do question more than a few of the moves that they've made this offseason (Henne, Booker, Mormino, etc).
Iam just grateful that hes here leading our beloved dolphins, his personality, intelligence and toughness is exactly what this team playing in this town needed
Parcells has a history of destroying the success of a franchise. Dallas is the example I will use. Prior to Parcells, 5 Super Bowl wins, 8 NFC Championships. During and after Bill Parcells, no playoff wins.
To blame Parcells for the Cowboys lack of success would be incredibly foolish. Is he to blame for Dave Campo's run before he even got there? It isnt like the Cowboys were going to Super Bowls one year, Parcells showed up, and they started sucking. He made them back into a playoff contender, and they were far from being even that good before he arrived. It seems a bit unfair to compare Bill's few years in Dallas with the decades that proceeded him and then bash Bill for not having as much success during his short time there. Parcells wasnt a screaming success in Dallas but to say he destroyed that franchise is flat wrong, and completely ridiculous in fact.
Miami pre-Parcells is much worse than Dallas was. If the Tuna netted them 0 playoff wins, what will he bring us? Or is Romo cursed? They should have taken Quinn.
While I'll admit to being a skeptic of the Tuna's, just as I was jj's until he turned the D around, I'm personally glad that Zach is not here any longer. I loved the man and player while he was here, but I don't think I could have dealt very well with him scrambling his brains again while here. I still think he should have hung up the cleats and gone back to Texas as a Fins hero, but that is now his choice. No, I am still glad we don't have to watch ZT go out there and make his brain into mush any longer for the Fins...Now, I hope it doesn't happen but the type of damage that he has done so far is irreversible and can only get worse as he continues to play... I hope for his sake that Dallas cuts him in TC before it happens again....
Miami is worse, but that still doesnt prove that he destroyed that franchise. He helped turn it around if anything.
Cmon, they are a stacked team talent-wise, a playoff team and champion contender for the next few years at least. Parcells turned that team from a complete dud to contender. Blasting him because the Boys didn't perform that great in the playoffs this year is just silly. There were one of the best teams in the league and lost a playoff game, its not a huge issue.
Well I wasn't saying that Parcells is going to ruin the Dolphins I'm just saying it's a little hard to see him not as the Jets or Pats coach whom I despised at the time... As far as Zach, Dallas made the right move that will pay off, he wasn't getting hurt all the time. He'll be going to the Pro-Bowl and playoffs this year at the least.
Parcells isn't the coach here either and thats a huge difference. I think his act as a coach has worn thin, I don't see him coaching in the NFL anymore.
How did a thread about Zach turn into a review of Parcells? I miss Zach already, but wish he would hang up the cleats, he has worked too hard and contributed too much to the NFL to have his life after the NFL destroyed in quality by another concussion. They should move this thread back into the Miami dolphins discussion area, just for the Parcells discussion.
Dude, you're a great poster, but this is the dumbest thing I've ever seen you post. Dallas went 5-11 three seasons in a row before Parcells got there. He took them to 10-6 his first year there. He also has set them up to be contenders for the next few years, including going 13-3 last season. What were you possibly thinking with that post?
