Some trade winds blowing... http://DolphinsTalk.com James Jones may be on his way to Miami DolphinsTalk.com REPORT: GB and Miami talking James Jones trade[h=3][/h] The NFL Network is reporting tonight the Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins are working on a trade that will send WR James Jones to the Dolphins. Discuss!
consistent 5-7 td, 600 yard guy. Will compliment Bess and Hartline I believe, comfortable with Philbin offense.
Interesting if true. Still, James Jones is a 3. I see the fit schematically but not in terms of roster makeup. Hopefully we don't give up more than a 5th round pick here.
We need something but with his cap hit GB cant be getting more then a 4 or 5 imo. Or send them a 6 and crappy Matt Moore who will proceed to produce like a pro bowler in their offense and get flipped for a 2 in a few years to some sucker (probably us).
What makes you so sure he's a 3? He has the size, speed and limited playing time excellent production. If you keep Jones you have an all around WR, Hartline an all around WR that can play all three spots, a slot receiver, and a deep threat.
I think at one time the word around the league was he was expected to be released. Good receiver and good fit tho. He should be able to get some snaps right away. Would give up a 4th or a 5th but only because we are desperate.
Moore for Jones would be good. I would settle for that. I would then look strongly at the waiver wire for a wr to develop on the roster.
He immediately becomes the #1 receiver. Trying to compare his stats while playing with Nelson and Jennings against his opportunities playing with Bess and Hartline just doesn't seem fair.
There is a part of me that wants to go after Wallace. But only if I thought this team could win. I am not disillusioned about how bad this team is.
He did catch 7 Touchdowns, so don't ignore that, could be a solid red zone target. If he had 6 TDs and 600-700 yards, I think people would be happy. And who knows, maybe he would shine as a bonus. It's also nice that he would be back with some Packer staff. Certainly better than anyone not named Bess (Or Hartline, but how healthy is he?)
Jones for a fourth would fine, if we only gave up a fifth it would be excellent. Maybe they cut Philbin a break? Let the guy play out his contract this year and then give him a deal if he produces. Not like we would cry too much to cut a rookie drafted in the fourth or later anyway. Still hoping for a surprise cut that we can add to really give Tannehill a good WR corp to work with.
If we could of turned the VD 2nd round pick it would of been a brilliant move. If we're talking a first rounder any team could of just offered him a contract better than what he was tendered.
Got a chance to see James Jones when the Packers played Cincinnati here in town last week. Despite being listed 6'1" 208lbs, I thought he looked bigger than that. Sneak quick, sort of like Brian Hartline, but tougher to bring down in the open field. Don't remember him getting a ton of passes thrown his way in the game. I think he could be an improvement over someone like Brian Hartline as a #2 WR, but I wouldn't ever consider him anything more than that. In other words, Miami's still lacking a #1 receiver who can be a game-breaker even with James Jones on the roster.
I think Bess is really. But if what you said were true it is more testament to how bad this team has fallen.
I'd rather go into the season as is then overpay for a WR who is not going to mean much in this upcoming season. These draft picks we got are going to be really valuable next year when we bring in a bunch of young, good players
In typical Dolphins fashion, he will probably be acquired for a 3rd rounder, then proceed to forget how to catch passes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Hes had 9, 6 and 6 drops the last 3 years. Hes a #3. Hartline has been better or equal to him each of the last 3 years.
He's still a massive upgrade anyway you paint it. If gotten for a 4th or lower, this is something you do with your eyes closed.
Yeah I know. i still want him. I just dont regard him as more then a 3. Hes had Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball while Hartline has had Moore and Henne and Hartline STILL had better stats and fewer drops. I think that says it all
I don't understand that line of thinking at all. Philbin did not leave his cushy job in GB to come here and lose. I wouldn't be surprised to see 10 new faces on this team by Monday.
If the draft was today, and you could get James Jones in the 4th or 5th round, would you say no to that?
If he is as good as Hartline, I will get behind it. Remember, we are planning on a 3 WR set, or more, so we dont really need a 1 right now. Which ever one they double up on, the other should be good. That is even before you look at Bess.
