Good move... thanks to Alen for bringing this to my attention. Figured it was worthy of a separate thread :hi5:

If nothing more, he's a guy that might help us and Slaton is expendable with Miller coming on...

Didn't see it anywhere else...sorry, but a move (if it works out) worthy of talking about...

Just adding to the list of #4 and #5 WR's we already have.

Actually AA would be our #3 or #4, he has legit deep threat ability.

Also means "Dash" makes the team.

I like the trade, but by itself it doesn't solve wide receiver. I don't know how feasible other moves are though.

Makes sense with the Gates cut. Difference though is at least armstrong has some productivity

    Still don't see a #1. Barely see a #2.

An improvement over Gates, with the same kind of player, for a guy who would've been cut anyway. Good move given our other personnel at RB.

That is what we got to work with, for some odd reason teams are not linning up to peddle quality Wr's.

If we get the healthy Armstrong of 2010, he's your #3 WR (e.g. starter).

44 catches, 871 yards, 3 TDs. 19.8 yards per catch.

That's what he brings. A downfield threat. You just wonder if he can stay healthy.

It's interesting that the trade isn't "final" yet. Leverage on another WR trade perhaps?

Well, I have to say Anthony Armstrong > Clyde Gates

Also, don't shed a tear for Steve Slaton.... he did well to get back healthy again, but an oft injured running back is always a risk to be injured again. I like our running back group with Bush, Thomas, Miller and Lane. Dare I say top 10 in the NFL?

So a guy who was deemed not good enough by Jeff Ireland 3 years ago is now being traded for as one of the "answers" to our problem that apparently he didn't see coming.

    Wonderful.

But AA is a decent player, swap of unneeded guys on a aprticular roster. Not awe inspiring but decent value.

he's essentially a little less fast Gates, with better awareness, routes... everything. But there must be a knock on him. I just don;t follow the Skins (and wasn;t he on the Bears for a bit??) to know.

Yeah, a really nice trade in terms of finding the perfect partner to trade something that hurts neither of us but helps both teams.

Had P Turner at that point, AA was an OTA star but faded when the pads came on, he went to DC and he and McNabb had a nice connection down the field.

Let me get this right. Jeff Ireland is trading for a guy he cut 2 years ago? Is that right? Ireland has a job how?

By no means would the position be 'solved'. But could be a valuable piece.

If healthy, he legitimately upgrades the position. And you deal from the bottom of one of the few positions of strength on this team to get him.

Makes no sense for Washington. Slaton isn't better than Hightower, Helu or Royster.

From what I understand the knock on him (at least last year) was that he struggles getting off of press coverage and was driving the Redskins a little batty because he wasn't improving any in that regard.

The Skins decision to release Tim Hightower today seems to go against your opinion.

Cuts aren't strictly a GM's decision. It could be Ireland wanted to keep him but Sparano preferred some others on the team.

Not saying that's how it is, but criticizing him outright is silly IMO when we don't have a clue what went on to lead to the cut.

Both teams are probably waiting on how the cuts play out before finalizing anything. This sounds like a plan B on both sides.

THT is coming off a knee surgery and his knee was swollen and sore after the Colts game (sad news for us) THT is pending release or IR
Helu played his 1st preseason game on Weds the same game whenre Royster played in only his second preseason game and was dinged during that game.

Armstrong was the odd man because we added Garcon, Morgan and Briscoe and would likely have been released.

Armstrong is not a complete WR by any means, but he's an elite deep threat.
