Isaako was just cut by the Jets after they signed a punter named Malone. He could go to the Dolphin practice squad?

I expect you're right about that. Wonder if they pick up one of the practice squad players onto the 53 man roster in place of David Garrard, and then put Aaitui in that player's roster spot.

If they did sign anyone off the practice squad the players that would make the most sense would be a kid like Burden or Presley because of their need at cb and ol with injuries to Jerry and Long.

I wonder why the Jets cut him. They did release another DT after signing Aaitui. I'll be extremely happy if Miami can get him back. He showed alot of promise during the preseason.

Because they finished learning what he had to tell about our defensive schemes.

Nice catch. I'd expect him back as well. Dolphins told him they wanted him if he got thru waivers.

I wonder if David Canter is talking about the Jets here...

They claimed the guy three days ago and now they cut him.

This was my suspicion as well.

I'm not sure a defensive linemen is going to be able to tell our opponents information that is all that valuable.

Wouldn't it be funny if he didn't give up the info!!! Just so he'd get released!!! I doubt that is what happened, but it be hilarious if true.

Burden is already available for practices and teams generally only have 7 OL dressed on game day. Maybe now they'll dress 8. Long will start and play either way.

I guarantee that is what happened. These NFL teams have guys paid Big Bucks $$$ to get that information out of them.

Aaitui out for season, plot thickens

    Per Canter's tweets....

Sounds like the Jets used an old injury waiver to flat out waive him rather than waive/injured, in which case Aaitui would revert to the Jets IR list if/when he cleared waivers.

My assumption is that the waiver agreement was with the Dolphins and transferred to the Jets when they claimed Aaitui (and therefore his contract) off waivers Saturday.

I noticed that his contract was thru 2013. So any team claiming him would get another year.

So if this is guaranteed what happened, I guess that means we'll waive Troy Nolan in a few days.

The Jets play the Bills this week. So why didn't they claim a waived Bills player if that was their primary reason for making waiver claims?

If he reverts to the Jets IR by clearing waivers, then he gets his salary while on IR.

Normally yes. But appears that this injury waiver allowed the Jets to simply waive him, rather than with the waived/injured designation. In that case he wouldn't revert to IR. He'd just be out on the street.

I would hope/assume this waiver was solely between he and the team and doesn't affect whatever insurance he has/had with the league.

That's the other great thing about IR. Not only would he be getting paid, but he'd be rehabbing at team headquarters and dealing with team doctors. He misses out on that and a $390,000 salary.

I'm sure he's had better days.

So, when he clears waivers, he becomes a street free agent.

He appeared healthy when with us. He played all 4 games. I wonder what exactly is wrong with him, injury wise?

Yeah Canter was saying on twitter it was a waiver for an old injury that got him cut, the one from college reoccurring perhaps.

I mean, I can't find any solid info. But based on all the information out there. It leads me to believe he injured his knee. Which would likely require season ending surgery. Its speculation, but based on all the tidbits out there.

Isaako took one look at the Jets facility and fell down with a season ending injury sending him back to the PS at Miami, good man.

Because he's not injured, he just could stand the idea of being on the Jets! :wink2:

hmmm... I hadn't heard about the injury thing with the Jets, but after watching HK tonight and then remembering they had cut him earlier in the day, I was hoping he'd be back with Miami on the practice squad. He sure didn't look like he was happy to be heading elsewhere. Clearly we wanted him to clear waivers and make the PS. I guess that's out now. How many kids did the man have, 3, living with his gf? Maybe he and Root can make some cash singing on the side... :shifty:.... Hope he makes it back with us next year. Can never have enough strong Samoans.

If he has an actual injury, I'd like to see the Dolphins show some humanity, and sign him and place him on IR. Pay his salary for the season, rehab him, and get him ready for next year. It could really pay off in the long run. Heck he'd have been on PS likely all season as it is. So rehab work at the team facility would be one step removed and nobody could poach him.

I'm not sure if that's possible since the Jets waived him, it appears he was injured... they called it pre-existing and are fighting the injury settlement.. without a settlement, he would revert to the Jets IR? With a settlement, he would be free to sign with any other team. But I would agree.. if that's possible to get him back into our facility. Not like we are using the salary cap this year for anyone worthy of note :shifty:

EDIT... reading what Canter wrote again, still a bit fuzzy on this as it seems he along with the NFLPA / comp attorney are going to fight the Jets over the injury thing. If the player wins the fight, you could see the Jets having to pay him (either thru a settlement or IR, although the IR seems likely now with the way it has ended). Seems Tui hurt his knee up there, which is a damn shame. Hope he ****s the Jets for all that they have though....and then next year he comes back for us.

It's interesting Canter is saying doubtful for Tui ever to end up a Fin again. Is he bitter about Miami cutting him too?

Fact of the matter is Kacy Rodgers said he'd jump up on a table for the guy to continue being a part of the team, and everyone seemed really worried he'd get poached off waivers (which he did). Even if he can't practice all year because he's injured, even if he has to wait until next off season to sign a futures contract, I would think based on what we've seen that the Dolphins would love to have him back next training camp. But Canter says "doubtful" knowing full well that Tui won't be signing with any team in 2012. Why?

    Logically, it either means:

    1. He doesn't want Tui to sign with the Dolphins
    2. He thinks something will change between now and then to where the Dolphins don't want him back

All fairness to the Jets, I live about 15 minutes from their facility. It's state of the art, and the organization does go out of their way to treat their players very well.

What a big bummer after watching hard knocks, I wanted to see him on the practice squad. Sounds like a career ending injury.
