IIRC, it is not set on as the crow flies, but on radius of TV signal penetration.

And that was before cable, so who knows how cable penetration is calculated?

    Live from the Internet.
I don't know what's your business when you're in town, but we usually gather at the Hooters by the mall to catch the away games. You are more than welcome come by.

As for the Rams game...the only way we come close to a sell out for that game if we beat Jets and the Cards, which may not happen lol
Hell, we can be 1 - 3 going in to the Rams game. I'm sure StubHub will have some good deals for that one.

Yeah its based on the broadcast affiliate.

The CBS station there has say 5 antennas (for example) and they are scattered throughout the area. Let's say they each have 50 mile radius. There's going to be overlap, but there's also going to be sections not overlapped. Now, they are only able to stop the game from a given antenna or all of them. They can't have one antenna broadcast the game to some people and not to others. If they had an antenna whose range was completely outside of the 75 mile radius, then the people that receive their signal from that one could get the game.

I don't know if I explained that well or not.

No absolutely not, nothing would make me happier than if I have to eat my words. The problem is I do not think it will happen...you guess it...because of Ireland's stewardship.

I am going to the game.

And the odds of me running into Jeff Ireland are zero, so I won't be getting into any altercations (not that I would do that anyway)

I fully understand where you are coming from. My intention was never to be unfair to the players or the coaches. Unfortunately sometimes the only way we have to show our displeasure with a sports organization is just to refuse to go to the games. I guess what I learned last week was that the only person I was really hurting by refusing to attend the games, was me. I love going to the games and I love the atmosphere of being at the stadium. I understand that for many people, there are economic reasons they do not attend games. Fortunately for me, I can easily afford to to go the games and if me going to the games helps to lift the blackout for those who can't afford to attend the games, great.

You are a great fan and I certainly understand your desire to protect the culture of the franchise. Sorry if my comments over the past year have somehow led you to believe that I didn't care about the players or the coaches. That was never what I wanted to convey in my comments regarding my frustration with, Ireland and Ross. I can see how my comments could easily be seen as a knock on the entire organization. I'll try to be more careful in the future when making any negative comments, to ensure that I am specific as to whom I am finding fault with. This way it will not be a knock on the entire organization.

He said the tickets have been in the family for almost 40 seasons! That means that they have forked out a ton of money in support of this team, and it's been wasted money the last 10 seasons. At some point people grow tired of a product that's just not worth watching live, and hardly worth watching it on TV. Yet he went ahead and purchased season tickets again to see if, MAYBE, things might get better.

This is exactly how I felt a couple of seasons ago. After buying season tickets for over 30 seasons, I grew tired of the product that I paid my hard earned money to see.

The season that I stopped buying them it did not matter what was going on. New offense, new defense, new coach, new whatever! I mean when you say is that fair do you think it was fair to the hardcore season ticket holders that they had to spend at least 3000 a year to see a failed product? These players, coaches and the owner are walking away from every single game with a huge profit in their pockets! Yet the season ticket holder walks away having left a nice portion of their hard earned salaries.

Care to say it's not fair to the team again?

Once the first few minutes of a game are gone, it is up the the players to do something to create a continuous energy force up in the stands. It's always that way...

Absolutely Oz..you say you grew tired of the product, well, are you happy you have a team to root for?, and did those teams compete hard in your opinion?

You mention a period of ten years, there were 3 different regime changes in that time, they all deserve a fair platform, and to me part of a fair platform is untainted support for each, and that's because I think if your carrying over negativity from regime to regime, it makes the job harder to be successful for players, coaches, and execs.

I've been to I think 12 live football games if you include some hurricane games and I just don't enjoy it as much as on TV. I can go to a Marlins or Heat game np but football is better on the TV to me.

The thing is, is that this is the 5th change in the last 10 seasons. They continuously sold out every game for a good portion of those abysmal seasons. That answers your question right there. But after so long it becomes a huge problem when you're spending thousands of dollars to see consistant crap. At one point me and a friend had 5 club seats but that was during the Marino days. That is a boatload of money man.

Their job is their job. Do it for love and a fat paycheck! Don't do it only if I'm up in the stands screaming and yelling your name...

Because you think they should do it for money and personal love doesn't mean the arena and the energy of a crowd doesn't push them harder..

Just wanna say thanks for continuing this subject with me and not getting to upset, at least talking about it keeps the topic relevant, and because I believe that we need a new stadium, I can't stop.

But DJ the Miami Dolphins are not getting a new stadium. They have a new owner who just bought this one and he is asking for public funding to help renovate and that's not happening either.

Also take a listen to the Raiders game. The crowd was small and pretty damn loud. Why? Because the players finally gave them something to cheer about. They have to get the crowd going somehow and doing their job is not good enough. They have to do it well...
