I wouldn't waste any any draft picks on a guy who is going to hit free agency.....ie Jennings and Bowe...

KC isn't going to tag him again so he will be there in free agency, go get him then....he is going to cost the same amount of money whether you trade for him or don't, so essentially you are just giving away picks for 12 games.....

It is whether or not Bowe will want to come to Miami like he says he does or if he is just going to use them as #leverage

I say we load up on tight ends and pass rushers and then just mind ****, to use one of DJ's words, coaches.

Another tight end to start hedging bets would certainly not hurt. That's a position that is becoming like the QB position on a Ron Wolf team...should draft one pretty much every year.

I think Charles Clay is the big disappointment there. I'm not sure expectations of Egnew were realistic. I thought perhaps 10 or 15 catches from Egnew mostly in the second half of the year and I think that's still realistic. But I think a lot of us were thinking more along the lines of 30 or 40 catches from Charles Clay (some were thinking much more than that) and that's not coming to fruition at all.

Given the fact that Egnew cant even dress I am starting to get nervous hahaha....

I wonder what the free agent market is for tight ends this year...I know Bennett is one and so is Fred Davis, outside of those 2 I am not sure....

I don't think Martellus Bennett is all that different than what we have in Fasano. One could argue that Fasano may even be a better receiver. Bennett is a great blocker, and he will help your strong-side running game, but I don't see him as much of a receiving threat.

Given the tendencies this staff has shown, I refuse to pass any judgment whatsoever on either Rishard Matthews or Michael Egnew until I see them dressed and on the field getting snaps and opportunities.

Bennett is and always has been a better and more explosive athlete than Fasano. Better frame, too.

His role as a blocker was dictated for the most part by who he had to play behind, not necessarily by his skill set.

I also doubt Martellus Bennett will leave the Giants. The only wildcard is the Giants have this thing going where they truly believe they have the best TE Coach in football (and it might even be true) and they will not pay through the nose to keep anyone at that position because they know they can just have the next guy step in, get coached by this guy, and come out smelling like a rose.

Yes, he is a better athlete, but he has issues as a receiver. He is inconsistent with his hands and loses focus.

It looks as if they have set the plan for next season evaluate whats in the stable now and upgrade when something better is there or not at all. I am glad they aren't grasping for anything wasting the picks even though it looks like with anything better than a Naanee the WR's could start to turn the corner for the team.

Over 2010 and 2011 he had 5 drops and 50 catches. That's not really that bad. I'll take the superior frame and athleticism especially if he's also a good blocker.

Dustin Keller with an even decent QB can be a dangerous receiving threat. That's certainly worth exploring in the offseason.

I mentioned that CB is a position I would love to address in free agency because I have a lot of respect for how long it takes for a corner to get good, and I have a lot of respect for how a veteran corner can help your team as opposed to a young kid.

I think the TE position is kind of the opposite. That's one I'd like to draft. Seems to me those players are always pushing the envelope as far as size/athletic ability are concerned and sometimes it seems their windows of production are small. They lose their edge too quickly. The good ones don't make it to free agency and by the time they do they're used up.

Part of why I think it wouldn't hurt to take the Ron Wolf-QB approach of drafting one every year.

I'm interested to see what he could do with a real QB throwing to him anyway. I think he'll be dangerous if the Jets let him go and a team with a good QB gets a hold of him.

But we'll see. I don't think he leaves

I disagree. If we have a top ten pick, we can come away with a game changing type of DB, and won't have to pay him Brandon Carr type money.

Have you seen Morris Claiborne play? I want one.

By all means if you see a Morris Claiborne point him out for me. But even Patrick Peterson was a pretty bad corner in his rookie year. And Prince Amukamara, injured, and still struggling. Better hope you've got yourself a Claiborne or Haden and not a Malcolm Jenkins or Leodis McKelvin. Even the guys that end up good usually take a while.

I look at it as not really a this season thing. If we can get a Bowe, or any other #1 WR, that would give them this season to work and learn the system. This gives us a certified #1 who is set with the system and Tannehill for 2013 and beyond.

IMO, the time to make such a trade was during training camp. At this point, we can either just roll with what we got or cut The Legetron and sign someone like Gaffney or Stallworth.
