Pure speculation. There is no way to know that. He may have, but he also may have thrown 3 ints and cost us the game.
Props to Matt Moore for being the best at what he does, being a backup qb coming off the bench who can come in and contribute to a win. Starting on the other hand is a different story.
Trading Moore would be ridiculous. He comes in and leads the team to a win against a hated opponent, and gets traded forthwith. I can just imagine how that would go down in the locker room.
Might as well trade everybody else who helps the team win too, eh? Cam Wake, Jake Long, Sean Smith, Randy Starks. Trade everybody with value.
He's a non-starter, who will most likely be gone next year with some value. Half way through the season I say goodbye.
Eh, if you can get the picks, you do it. But can see if FO says no to any offer too. I am sure Devlin has support within the locker room as well. Moore wont be in the locker room next year regardless. Take the picks..
In the process, you potentially jeopardize your chances THIS season, by trading away a proven and reliable backup.
And we know for sure, he is in football shape? We had the chance to keep him rather than Moore at the end of preseason. What has changed, except Moore showing again he can be relied upon?
Poo poo on this thread. Keep Moore. Hopefully tannehills fine. Keepbwinning football games. **** everything else.
Its a calculated move is all, Devlin and any FA on the wire (Garrard, etc), and the draft pick. Just saying if it happens I am not screaming "what are they thinking", I am willing to accept the reasons for it.
Besides, stats wise one is just as well signing UDFA's over 4th rd picks. MMoore did what he had to do, if Gaffney hangs onto the ball he throws for how many Td's?
We don't know either way if he's in football shape or not. The move after the preseason made the most sense at the time because of Garrard's injury. What has changed is after a horrific preseason in which he was beat out by a rookie Moore, proved he still has some value as backup quarterback, maybe even a starter if a team is desperate enough.
No worries, for some it is impossible for them to give MMoore credit. That's fine..they can look foolish in so doing
Matt Moore looked real sharp at times. Might be the best option if we're seriously going to compete for the playoffs.
Moore had a very good game. There is not a qb controversy Tannehill is teh man but Moore is a great backup and proved it today
Matt Moore, for whatever reason, doesn't play well until it really counts. He's a valuable backup that I would trade for good value, but if not, then he's more than welcome on the team. Why take a chance with Devlin, when we have a guy who has proven he can play in the NFL. Pat Devlin may the guy who excels in practice and pre-season and then withers away when the clock starts. Why would you risk that with a billion dollar franchise.
Besides Moore is a great teammate, he could have b*tched about not starting but has been there to help. we dont need to trade him and his value to us is more than what we would get for him IMO
Looks a lot like the thread after the Titans game in 2010 with people begging for Thigpen to start. A game in relief against a battered and injured Jets team does not mean week in and week out we could count on Moore to do this if need be. Moore may get by on savvy, but let's not pretend he's all that talented. He wilts against good teams and the Jets are not a good team.
I was very impressed with Moore today. I'll admit that I didn't think he fit in this offense and his play in the preseason supported that. But he was very solid today making some very nice throws and taking care of the football.
Yeah, I agree, he's one of those guys that just comes in and gets the job done, but never good enough to wrest a starting gig from anyone... While I would not be uncomfortable if they trade him and get a pick of some sort, I'm glad they haven't and that he's here to hold the reigns while Tanny recovers...
Today showed why you don't trade Moore, he was a leader out there, pulled Incognitio (2x) and Pouncey away from fights and 3 stupid penalties. You need a good backup and a leader like that to win in this league.
why cant we trade Reggie Bush and Brian Hartline for a good wr and just keep Matt ? if we trade we need to get more then a 5th rd pick and frankly a 3 rd rd pick might be a reality if we play our cards right.
Except Matt Moore proved himself last year on THIS team with THIS group of guys. In context, this is completely different. Matt Moore looked very comfortable in there on short notice. And this offense is much better coached, which helps every QB on the roster that much more.
He's beat the Jets (6-10 last 16 games)twice, the Bills (4-12 last 16 games) twice, Kansas City (4-12 last 16 games), Oakland, (7-9 last 16 games)and the Washington Redskins (5-11 last 16 games).
I don't think MMore needs to prove how valuable is for this team, he already show to us that is a decent QB, better then what a lot of people are giving credit for and personally I don't really care which teams he did beat when he was playing, the only thing I care is that is was able to win. On the top of that is a good team player, having him backing Tannehill is a good thing.
