The words of Terry Bradshaw while doing the highlight clip of his TD run on Sunday. Not sure if this has been discussed or not, but was this his "Fuzzy moment"? Wonder what Reggie thinks about it.
Reggie B's issue in a nutshell is he is not making decisions quickly enough, he drops his hips waiting to make a jump cut or side step and holds the move to long instead of seeing it's just not there and driving into the defender to pick up a few yards. That is the difference between him this year and last yr, he's still a gamebreaker and I'm happy to have him however the team needs him to up his game.
I think Bradshaw is still picking toejam out of his front bridge! In this era of hyper sensitive uber political correctness... not even Godfrey Cambridge could get away with that kind of comment. He could not even tell the joke about the professional young black man carrying fried chicken in his briefcase - which he did about 30 some years ago. Or, as my Grandma used to say to me.... "It's just not done!" That was all it usually took. Terry. That's just not done! Not today! Even if some of us old Southern white football players probably ate as much fried chicken, collard greens, blackeyed peas, buttermilk cracklin' corn bread sopping up the pot liquor, and a heapin' bowl of nanner puddin' as anyone else.
Its actually a completely innocent comment. Link Terry Bradshaw is a goofball, but not a racist. Most people would realize that comment could be misconstrued as racist and therefore not make the comment, but Bradshaw is just...not equipped to think ahead in that way. No harm, no foul.
Ah the PC world we live in! Wade Boggs ate fried chicken before every game... There goes that stereotype eh? In swear people look for reasons to be offended.
Think how much better of a hitter Tony Gwynn would have been if he was black and ate fried chicken before every game.
One of my good friends, a girl, who is black, texted me last nite if I knew a good Chinese restaurant in her area. I replied, " I understand your craving, black people love themselves some Chinese food, idk google it" She replied.." You damn strait we do, theres one in every hood." I know I couldn't say certain things if I were on tv because of how ignorant some folks are, but I tease my friends all the time about their ethnic stereotypes, and they do the same to me, it's fun. Another little funny story, sometimes when I'm with my brother/ friend who is black, and we'll be driving, and I'll see a KFC, I quietly poke him to get his attention, not saying a word, he'll look at me, and I'll point to the sign, and smile..We crack up.
After submitting my last post the marketing ad atop the page was actually KFC with a picture of a bucket of chicken. No sh**.
Personally I am over all the PC crap and the fact that everything you say is racist anymore. I blame the lawyers!
My wife's in law is Mexican, we're Vietnamese, and we make fun of each other, all the time. I get disgusted when Asian associations get offended at every little thing. Same asians who make fun of white/blacks/mexicans out of their presence all the time. And those other races do the same to everyone else. We're too sensitive.
One of my college roommates was a huge baseball fan and told me some baseball "urban legend" that Wade Boggs once consumed 72 beers (36 going out and 36 coming back) on flights to and from the west coast when he was with Boston. Don't know if anyone knows if that's true or not, but if it is, that's impressive.
I already made a post about this isn't racism, because Bradshaw was actually pointing his joke at JJ, but can we also stop pretending there aren't very old and very major stereotypes and offensive jokes about black people and fried chicken. This isn't out of the blue or anything. I don't know why people are getting incredulous over the notion.
Agreed. It's a stupid stereotype. Now if watermelon and grape drink were introduced with the chicken...then there is a problem IMO. People need thicker skin, and need to save it for real injustice/racism like Rush Limbaugh on ESPN talking about McNabb.
Since when did fried chicken become some type of socially unacceptable food to where its use in imagery by Bradshaw could be interpreted as racially insulting? And why is it that people of an unrelated race are typically the ones who make such a stink about these types of light-humored comments? Besides, who doesn't like a fresh bucket 'a chicken, especially of the fried nature? It's as much a southern, white food as it is black. If it were me on that run and Michael Irvin shouted, "He's chasin' that Starbucks gift card!!!", rather than boringly saying, "He's really running hard on that play.", I'd shoot him a Tweet thanking him for the laugh.
Yeah, but did you eat neck bones. In other news, smoking marijuana is now legal in Colorado. Here's to the Broncos' being on our away schedule next year.
Everything but stewed tomatoes and okra, and chittlin's. They are definitely off the menu. But fish n' grits, with hushpuppies... ummmm doggies. Lordy, don't let my doctor read this or he will be all over me like white on rice.
